Some Thoughts

February 28, 2025 at 9:28 am by Claudia

Good morning!

An interesting 24 hours here. Both Don and I have been feeling stressed – about money issues for sure, but mostly about the state of our democracy and the world. Don tries very hard to avoid the news, but sometimes that is impossible.

Anyway, on Wednesday we ended up having a terrible argument that spiraled out of control very quickly. Eventually, I left the den and went to bed early. We weren’t talking to each other Wednesday evening and that continued into Thursday morning until we finally reconnected and talked everything through. We were acting out. The stress had become so intense that it had to be released and I guess that’s how we released it. We feel much better now.

I share this because I am absolutely sure that this kind of thing, whether it’s an argument, feeling edgy, acting out, feeling panicked or scared or angry is happening to the vast majority of us – both here in this country and throughout the world. Find ways to manage it and let it go. It isn’t good for us and feeling that amount of stress is giving them too much power.

I do believe it will all come to a head. And I do believe that nothing that seems to be happening in DC will ultimately have any power. They’ve gone too far and it will all come back on them. They’ll implode.

That’s how I see it. And I pray I am right.

That sense of the outcome doesn’t always help when we’re in the midst of this mess. But I’m trying to pray and hold to the light.

I filmed a couple more videos – this time the subject matter is my egg cup collection.

I’ll post the second part tomorrow.

Hang in there, my dear friends.

Stay safe.

Happy Friday,

Midweek Edginess

February 26, 2025 at 8:19 am by Claudia

What a nightmare we’re living in. Cuts to Medicaid? Medicare? I can only pray that it ultimately doesn’t go through. All I know is that I’m not sleeping well and I feel quite edgy this morning.

I moved the little wooden ducks that used to live on the little shelves in the den. I had the thought that they’re most likely putz animals, so they might belong upstairs with the sheep.

They seem happy.

Since I had the phone with me, I turned to my left and took a picture of the wedding cake toppers.

There are a few that are a bit hidden, but most of them are visible.

This one is for a golden wedding anniversary.

Ice update: It’s almost gone! There’s still a bit of snow and ice. Yesterday, I was actually able to walk out the door and down the driveway to get the mail. No icy patches! This has been such a slog; all the snow, the ice, being trapped in the house. It will be warmish again today, so even more snow will disappear.

I’m sorry this is short, but I really am  edgy today. Not enough sleep, worry about the state of the world, about my nephew, who absolutely needs Medicaid. I’m sickened by the evil that lives in these people and I’m hoping for a karmic payback.

More on Friday.

Stay safe.

Happy Wednesday.

Finished Puzzle, Ice, Spring is on the Horizon

February 24, 2025 at 9:35 am by Claudia

Finished. It’s really quite beautiful – Eurographics designs puzzles that feature famous works of art. In this case, the artist is Haruyo Morita. She is a Japanese artist who worked as a kimono painter and her primary art subjects are women in kimonos, like this one.

It was a challenge, but worth it.

It did get warmer yesterday, enough to melt some of the icy snow. We still have a lot of thick ice on the parking area above the driveway and we’re going to have to get out there with our ice chopper this afternoon. It won’t go down below freezing tonight, and that will be a big help.

What a week it has been: snow, ice, trapped in the house for days, the horrors in DC, subzero temperatures. But the sun just came out and even though it will be partly cloudy, I’ll take whatever sun there is. Hey, it’s 9:16 am and it’s 35°! It isn’t freezing!

Who is surprised that the Felon is a Russian asset? Not me. I’ve known that for years. I’m just happy I can now use his Russian name on social media. It’s all starting to unravel.

We are officially in the last week of February, which has been a brutal month here in the Hudson Valley. I’m quite happy to see it hit the road. March can be challenging, but even so, we’re that much closer to spring. And that is very good news, indeed.

Sorry there’s not more to share with you! That’s the best I can do today.

Stay safe.

Happy Monday.

Welcome!

Welcome!

I live in a little cottage in the country with my husband. It's a sweet place, sheltered by old trees and surrounded by gardens. The inside is full of the things we love. I love to write, I love my camera, I love creating, I love gardening. My decorating style is eclectic; full of vintage and a bit of whimsy.

I've worked in the theater for more years than I can count. I'm currently a voice, speech, dialect and text coach freelancing on Broadway, off Broadway, and in regional theater.

Thanks for stopping by.
