A sign of hope and green things emerging from the ground. My early-bird day lilies, always the first to bloom, are edging their way out of the ground. Oh how I long to get out there and clean up the gardens! But I know, after over 16 years of living in the Hudson Valley, that it’s just too darned early. So I must be patient.
And frankly, I’m still too under the weather to actually do anything out there.
I looked for signs of the daffodils that are on the edge of the woods, but there aren’t any at the moment. For now, leaf mulch must be kept in place to protect the ground and the plants from any sudden freezes.
I have some tax work to do today (filing an extension) and I need to get some groceries, but it’s slow going, as I had a cough-filled night. Thankfully, I slept in, so I’m not feeling too ragged.
It’s sunny out there. Birds are singing. Hopeful signs of spring.
Sadly, I’m not in any shape to march tomorrow and I’m disappointed about that. But I’ll cheer the marchers on and watch MSNBC’s coverage.
I played around with some of my McCoy yesterday. Most of these pieces were scattered throughout the den and I suddenly thought they might make a bigger impact if I placed them on the music cabinet. Since my chair faces this cabinet, I’m enjoying this big splash of aqua. Smile-worthy.
Gosh, I love collecting.
Okay. Have to get a move on, and by ‘move’ I really mean ‘crawl.’
Happy Friday.

That is one beautiful collection! I love the color and the play of texture upon texture is so pretty!
Claudia says
Thank you, Shanna!
Linda @ A La Carte says
The Aqua pieces are so pretty grouped together!! Great visual impact. It has been sunny but COLD here so just trying to catch up on reading. My Mom was sick but is doing better. I have told myself today is clean up the house day, lets see if it works. Take care and rest up!
Claudia says
I had to call the electrician to fix a couple of things and after dealing with that, I’m exhausted. Taxes will have to wait.
Chris K in Wisconsin says
Smile worthy, indeed!! That truly does make an impact seeing them all together. Just lovely!!
Oh, that darn coughing. How I hate that. Are you taking anything for it? That can be hit or miss, too. I always feel like I was hit by a truck after a night spent coughing. If only it was warmer. Just sitting outside in the sun for a bit always makes me feel so good. But not when it is 40* out. Someday!!
I hope you feel better and stronger each day, Claudia. Take care!
Claudia says
I take NyQuil at night and I have cough drops. I’m taking some Mucinex today to try and loosen things up.
Monica says
I love the McCoy. Thanks for sharing.
Get some rest & feel better.

Thank you, Monica!

Coughs are the worst. I hope yours does not longer, Claudia. My daffodils have already emerged, bloomed and faded. They were such a cheery sight a few weeks ago. I’m actually glad they emerged before the heavy rains. We’re in a one-day Iull and rains will start again tomorrow. Hope your recovery moves more quickly than you can now!
Claudia says
I hope so, too, but today ended up being exhausting and I’m feeling pretty crappy at the moment.
Chy says
I love the pottery together. Impressive!
Glad you’re feeling a bit better. And there is green in your garden.
It snowed here again. A true blizzard. Supposed to warm up later today. I’m home in our cottage, washing clothes and packing before we leave for a sunnier location on Sunday. Can’t wait to get there and get away from all this white!
Take it easy today and enjoy your new “view” from your chair.
X Chy
Claudia says
I’m so sorry that you got a blizzard! Have fun on your trip!

I’d love to view that pottery from across the room myself. I am going to repot all my houseplants and arrange them on windowsills like I see in British shows. Just as soon as it warms up.
Would love to march with the Parkland kids myself but between my daughter and my age, I can’t. but I cheer them on.
Claudia says
I cheer them on, too, Jan!
Robyn says
Your aqua McCoy pieces are really beautiful. I think they look so nice together. Hope you feel all better soon!
Claudia says
I hope so, too, Robyn. Feeling pretty exhausted at the moment.
kathy in iowa says
oh, the good a little non-essential change and treat can do, huh?! all the pottery together makes quite a lovely statement!
sorry you won’t be able to march in person, but know you’ll be there in spiritual solidarity. health comes first! hope you keep mending and enjoy easier days.
usual weekend here (including lots of chores) and that’s okay. i’m just glad it’s the weekend! plus, i might make a trip to target to see if they have any companion pieces to go with that cute bunny rug you bought (i love that graphic, folk-y style of art)!

They have a pillow (which I have, too) that matches that design. Look in the garden/outdoor section of the store, Kathy.
kathy in iowa says
i was hoping for a vase or print, but a pillow might work. thanks for the tip, claudia!
hope whatever electrical issue you had is resolved and you can just rest, relax all weekend.
we are to get rain tonight and (depending on who you listen to) anywhere from one to ten inches of snow by noon tomorrow. i am hoping for just rain.

Thanks, Kathy!

Your McCoy is beautiful and looks so impressive all grouped together. Sorry to hear about the coughing…are you taking anything? I haven’t seen anything green yet….but then I haven’t really looked in all the little spots. Soon…hopefully soon, something green will emerge! ;)
Claudia says
I have Ricola drops and I take NyQuil at night. Also Mucinex.
tammy j says
collections always make a WOW statement when they’re the same color especially!
and that’s one of my favorite colors… aqua.
I had an aunt in NY once who broke a rib coughing so hard. never heard of it until hers
but apparently it’s fairly common. be careful! and try to rest!
the brave little green poking through is so beautiful. xo
Claudia says
I’ve heard of that happening to others. I’m resting now. I had to deal with some electrical problems and the electrician and it sort of exhausted me. So I’m sitting and resting.
Judy Clark says
Claudia – Here’s hoping you are feeling better. Hope so!! LOVE your aqua McCoy!! Gorgeous. Take care and get well soon.

Thank you, Judy!
Janet in Rochester says
That aqua McCoy IS gorgeous! For some reason, aqua is always a Summer color to me – I guess I connect it to water, the beach etc – but it is SO pleasant to see its fresh brightness after all Winter’s natural browns & grays. And the deep jewel tones that people tend to use indoors as well. Am looking forward to putting away blankets, Fall/Winter dish towels, placemats etc. I always get such a lift bringing out Spring linens – yellows, light greens, robin’s egg blue. Oh, and the pinks & purples of Easter. It really does feel like Spring will be here soon – we’ve had sunny days for most of the week. That’s real progress for us!! Keep resting up & relaxing. Are you getting caught up on any reading?? Peace.

It got cloudy later in the day today, but at least we had some sun this morning. I’m still having trouble reading a book. Magazines, yes, online, yes. But not a book. I think it’s stress.
Marilyn says
Those McCoy pieces are lovely. The color is gorgeous. I like the hint of your day lily. Hopefully the snow is gone for good. The temperatures are going to be in the 50’s this coming weeks. Feel better.

Thanks, Marilyn!

I went to my g’son’s high school today to take pictures & encourage them. Drury College across the street also participated in the walkout. I’ll do the same downtown tomorrow. So sorry you aren’t feeling well enough to do it. All of a sudden everything is blooming & it smells like Spring. Wishing the same for you soon.
Claudia says
I wish I could march, but I’m cheering them on and watching it on television.
Nancy Blue Moon says
Your aqua McCoy looks great grouped together…bright and pretty like another sign of Spring!…I haven’t checked my daffodils at the edge of the woods yet but I am guessing that they are coming up to greet us by now…I am also coughing with a sore throat and general crappiness…I wanted to go to the thrift stores Friday night half price sale but decided it was a bad idea….Take care and keep fighting it Claudia!…Also I am very proud of these kids for standing up and speaking out!…who thought they would ever have to fight for their right to be safe and protected to go to school!
Claudia says
I am so proud of them. They are the future, thank God!
Nora Mills says
I’m sorry you are still not feeling well but encouraged that the break from snow and a pop of spring is helping. Just wanted to say how much I am enjoying little glimpses of your guy on FB ads and TV promos for Margaritaville. The coverage has been uniformly positive and the audience reaction is enthusiastic. Of course I know promos are positive, but I believe in this case the hype accurately reflects the much-needed fun and escape of the production. You must be over the moon happy for Don. I love how his height and the look of his character make him a standout in the cast photos. Hoping you feel better very soon!
Claudia says
I hear from people all of the time that they loved it. Many have seen it several times. It’s positive and happy and truly an escape!
