A Dramatic First Day of Autumn

September 23, 2022 at 8:51 am by Claudia

Usually, the first day of Autumn is not much different than the day before. But yesterday was rather dramatic; big storms in the morning, lots of rain. Later in the day came high winds that brought a dramatic drop in temperature. And now, today, we’ll only reach 59 or 60 degrees.

Mother Nature is letting us know fall is here.

I’m going to try to do some mowing this morning. Don mowed the largest part of the front lawn last week – it already needs another pass. But the rest of the property really, really needs it. Hopefully, I can get some of it done. It’s my turn to do it and my back is better. I’ll make sure I’m slow and methodical and careful about the whole thing.

Yesterday was my father-in-law’s birthday. He would have been 103. Next week will bring my dad’s birthday. He would have been 99. September is always a little bittersweet for Don and me. We miss our fathers.

Next up: this Agatha Christie puzzle by the same company that created The World of Shakespeare, etc. These puzzles are beautifully and imaginatively designed and it’s always lots of fun identifying places and characters.

I’ll probably start in on this one today.

It’s a cool morning. I’m wearing a sweater over my pajamas. I welcome the change after such a strange and difficult summer.

Stay safe.

Happy Friday.

I’m sure it’ll feel great to mow again, so I’m sure you’ll enjoy it and.Don will appreciate it.

It was a fabulous Fall day here….and we are enjoying the cooler temps. But it was a little too cool last night…had to turn the heat on briefly.

That looks like a great puzzle for your next challenge. Enjoy your mowing. Be careful! ;)

I really like the puzzle. I am working my way through her books, only on the 5th one so I have a ways to go. Hugs to you and Don in this bittersweet month.

    Take care mowing the lawn.

Our weather has changed quickly. It is 56 degrees today and just a few days ago it was very
    humid.

Take care to you and Don

Good to hear that your back is better enough to mow. We had a very small yard in our tracked home growing up, but one sister and I loved to mow the lawn, and those days we had a push mower. I can still hear the distinctive sounds of those blades. That and the sound of the sprinkler will always be summer for me.

Hope the mowing went well and your back held up! Same kind of temps here. We are to stay the same for the next week or so.

The puzzle looks fun. I don’t think I would have patience for even a 50 piece one to put together. Take care.

I was quite sore when I stopped, but I had the heating pad on and I’m much better this morning.

      Stay safe, Chris.

Birthday anniversary dates are bittersweet, for sure. We never get over the loss of a parent, sadly, we just get used to it.

Love the Agatha Christie puzzle. You’ll have fun doing it. We watch Agatha Christie’s Poirot on PBS Thursday nights. Take good care. Hugs, Elaine

Welcome!

Welcome!

I live in a little cottage in the country with my husband. It's a sweet place, sheltered by old trees and surrounded by gardens. The inside is full of the things we love. I love to write, I love my camera, I love creating, I love gardening. My decorating style is eclectic; full of vintage and a bit of whimsy.

I've worked in the theater for more years than I can count. I'm currently a voice, speech, dialect and text coach freelancing on Broadway, off Broadway, and in regional theater.

Thanks for stopping by.
