Welcome, friends! It’s time for another A Favorite Thing – this is week number 15! I so look forward to this part of the week and the chance to read about and see your favorite things. I thank you so much for taking the time to post and share a little of yourself each week. Let’s look at some highlights from last week:
Diane of Lydia’s Post, shared the details of her Advent Calendar. Her mother started that tradition and Diane has happily carried it on every year. I love the illustration/graphics. She got it from Bronner’s – a famous Christmas store in Frankenmuth, Michigan and one I used to love to visit when I was living in my home state.
Martha, of Poetry and a Cup of Tea, shared some of her Dicken’s Village with us. She has collected these pieces over the years and lovingly sets up her display every Christmas season. (We have several DV buildings here at the cottage, but alas, they are stored in the shed as we have no room to display them. So I will enjoy Martha’s!) In fact we have that very gate and stone wall. Martha’s display is magical and wonderful.
I had to add this photo. Judy, of 20 North Ora, shared this photo of her dog Bella wearing (not very happily) a Christmas wreath! Love, love this! The things we do to our dogs! You look beautiful, Bella.
And Melanie, of Comfy House, shared her love of paper crafting and mixed media, a skill I am sadly lacking in. Isn’t this lovely? You are very talented, Melanie!

My favorite thing for this week is my great-grandmother’s syrup jug. This was used on the family farm in Orillia, Ontario. It was passed down to my grandmother, then to my mother, who gave it to me several years ago. This piece is in immaculate condition and I’ve admired it since I was a little girl. The top is made of pewter. I’m happy it now has a home here at the cottage.

The jug is beautiful, Claudia. What a nice family treasure to own. I live quite close to Orillia. It is about a 6 hour drive. I visited a friend there a few years back in cottage country. Gorgeous area.
That is the loveliest syrup jug I have ever seen. Such a treasure and how fortunate you are to have it. I have some of my great grandmother’s things too. She also lived on a farm, but in Pennsylvania. She died before I was born, but her things help me to feel connected to her spirit. I so enjoy this party each week. Love to see what each of us hold dear. Thanks for bringing us all together.

I enjoy visiting and joining in on your Favorite Things each week. I remember when you began and I can hardly believe it’s week 15 already.
Your choice of blogs to feature this week is so charming. I love the little Christmas villages and oh, that photo of Bella with the wreath and brightly colored ribbon. He is being a good sport, I’d say.
It’s nice that your great grandmother’s syrup pitcher is so welcome and treasured in your home. She would be pleased. It is beautiful.
I chose the photo of my niece’s red and white ornaments this week for my entry. We were visiting my niece a few years ago and she had the prettiest bowl full of ornaments on her dining room table. I asked if I could snap a photo and she said yes. That Christmas was special because joining the family gathering was my youngest son, Tim. He had just returned from Iraq and he surprised us all. Each memory of that Christmas will always remain ONE OF MY FAVORITE THINGS!

Hi Claudia, not doing so great over here – we adopted two senior doggies after our Honey passed away in September and we found out yesterday morning our darling senior gentleman George, has cancer and a blood clot. SOB! So participating today out of nervous energy and not knowing what to do with myself, while waiting to see if he can come home today.
I adore your great grandmothers jug! How wonderful to have something of hers and my gosh, to be in mint condition. What a treasure.
