A Favorite Thing #17 – Holiday Edition

December 21, 2012 at 8:00 pm by Claudia

afavoritething

Ho! Ho! Ho! Welcome to A Favorite Thing – the Holiday Edition. I’m so glad you’re here and ready to share your favorite Holiday Thing with us. I know you are likely very busy at this time – just a few days before Christmas – so take some time over the next few days to visit everyone. And I do thank you for finding a bit of time to join in this week.

Let’s look at some highlights from last week.

IMG_5507

A Happy Gram shared her beautiful vintage church with us. Oh my. I remember these from my childhood and I must admit a wee bit of jealousy. It’s not becoming, I know, but look at this beauty! Gorgeous.

Pink mix Pyrex

Second Time Around Finds shared her Pink Pyrex with us. Sigh. I want to start a Pyrex collection and of course you know I would love some pink pyrex. These are beauties!

Julie’s Little House shared the gorgeous decorations in her dining room. Lots of silver and purple, which I think is strikingly beautiful! Great job, Julie!

My favorite things for this Holiday edition have been mentioned before on this blog. Hint: Bottlebrush.

bottlebrushornaments

Normally, these ornaments, and there about 10 of them, hang on our real tree. They are quite large and are always a striking addition to the smaller ornaments on the tree. This year, I have only a small white tree so I hung 3 of them on the chimney. These have to be my favorite Christmas ornaments. I just love them.

wreath

I have to add these bottlebrush wreaths to the Favorites list. I got them at Big Lots a few years ago. Christmas wouldn’t be Christmas without them.

Okay. Now it’s your turn! Share your favorites with us!

You can link up anytime from this evening through Sunday. Make sure you enter the URL of your post. If you’re unsure how to do that, just click on your post title after you’ve published it and copy the information in your browser address window. Come back here, paste the URL into your link entry and there you go! If you have any problems, drop me an email and I’ll help you out. Please link back to this blog on your post. That way, those that read your post and are interested in reading more can do so.

One of my concerns about link parties is that the very reason for them has somewhat gone by the wayside. They’ve become so big and there are so many of them that many bloggers don’t take the time to visit any of the other participants. Link parties are a way to meet new bloggers and share with each other and the only way to do that is to visit each other. So, please, take some time to visit everyone over the next few days. No rush. Stop by, introduce yourself, and leave a comment. It’s the neighborly thing to do. It’s also nice if you leave a comment here, as well.

We’re taking the week between Christmas and New Year’s off. A Favorite Thing will be back during the first week of January. I wish you all the Merriest and Most Joyful of Christmases.

Have fun!

Merry Merry Christmas Claudia, I love your ornaments on the old white brick and the wreath too. I have that same wreath and just adore it. Got mine at Big Lots too (my fave cheapie store) and wish I had bought more than one. Thank you for hosting. xo

Your bottle brush wreath is charming. While I love color, there are times when I just gravitate to the calm and neutral. If I don’t get the chance to get back to you, I want to wish you the Merriest Christmas. Have lots of fun hanging out in those really cute pj’s and give Scoutie a big, big hug from me.

Merry christmas, Claudia….Yes, it’s almost here. I can see you snuggled up with your pup, a good book andyour flannel pjs about right now.
Thank you for sharing such a great lineup of blog posts. I, too, have an old fashioned vintage church exactly like the one that Happy Gram displayed. It sits proudly on my piano each Christmas.
I am growing so fond of bottle brush ornaments and this coming year my mission will be to find as many as I can. I have a few little trees and stars and that’s just way too few…Don’t you think?
Have a lovely weekend, my friend and thanks for hosting this delightful party!

Love your bottle brush wreath and snowflakes! My grandmother had small, white bottle brush trees in her windows at Xmas. Wish I had thought to ask for those 25 years ago! By the way, the two small, leafy pyrex dishes are the same as the two on my dad’s kitchen shelf. Been there for decades unused! Maybe someday I’ll snag them for me! Very fun link this week too!

Merry Christmas to you, Don and Scout. Your decorations are leave me in such a sentiment mood.. I have the church that is shown and the music box still works.. I have some of the little cardboard, shimmery houses too. I think they are called “putz” houses.

I was a 1941 baby and have most of the tree ornaments that were on my childhood tree. Oh, is the times could be somewhat like they were then.
Enjoy your time off. I’ll look forward to your new January 2013 blog.. I hope and pray that the new year will be a happy, healthy and prosperous one for you and Don.
    Hugs, Charlotte in Va.

Love your wreath and ornaments, Claudia. I’m with you on bottlebrush. I really like it. I bought some bottlebrush ornaments this year and love their sweetness. I already had a bottle brush fox, and now there’s a squirrel and a hedgehog. ;-)

    Hi Claudia,
I just stopped by from Cozy Little Cottage. I see a fellow collector. We have the same camera, many of the same McCoy pieces, the same coffee table, piano print, the list goes on. I love to collect and I must say your egg cup collection is fabulous. Love it. I’m glad I found you in Blogland. Thanks for hosting a party that allows collectors to share a favorite thing. I’m so happy you like my church and it brings back memories for you. This past summer, I was at a resale/vintage/antique store, I saw a church just like mine, I didn’t buy it though. If I ever see one again, I will let you know, okay? Thanks for featuring it!

I just love your bottle brush ornaments, Claudia. I’m so very sorry I haven’t been here to add my two pennies to the Favorite parties but I’ve been ill since Christmas night and wasn’t able to be online. But I’m looking forward to going back and looking at all the lovely items people posted about, not only this weeks but in previous weeks as well. Take good care.

Welcome!

Welcome!

I live in a little cottage in the country with my husband. It's a sweet place, sheltered by old trees and surrounded by gardens. The inside is full of the things we love. I love to write, I love my camera, I love creating, I love gardening. My decorating style is eclectic; full of vintage and a bit of whimsy.

I've worked in the theater for more years than I can count. I'm currently a voice, speech, dialect and text coach freelancing on Broadway, off Broadway, and in regional theater.

Thanks for stopping by.
