Welcome to A Favorite Thing. It’s our twentieth week together, sharing our favorite things, and I’m so glad you’re joining in this week. Let’s look at some highlights from last week:
Jill of A Little Bit of Everything shared her collection of Vera scarves with us. Gorgeous!
Garden of Daisies shared her collection of crochet hearts. Aren’t they beautiful?
Two Birdies and a B shared the tenacious rosebud that was still hanging in there in spite of temperatures that were reaching the twenties during the night. Amazing! I love stories like this.
This week I’m sharing a favorite print that hangs above the sofa in our den:
I love flower prints and there’s a story behind this one. I saw it in a corner at an auction a few years back. I fell in love, not only with the print but with the wooden frame, which is scalloped and has a faded green paint on the edges of the frame. I wanted it. This particular auctioneer was slow as molasses and when it was past midnight and it still had not come up for auction, I was still waiting patiently. Suddenly the auctioneer started to end the evening. I shouted out “What about the print??” and pointed in that direction. The auctioneer grudgingly said, “Okay, bring it here.” And one of his assistants brought it up to the block. I was the only one who bid on it and I got if for $15! It’s quite heavy and I absolutely love it. Isn’t that frame wonderful?

One of my concerns about link parties is that the very reason for them has somewhat gone by the wayside. Oooh Claudia ~ I love that print and the frame too! How lucky you were to get it for only $15.00!! Vintage prints like yours are my favorites. I can hardly believe it is week 20. Where has the time gone???

Love the frame and picture – I am slowly learning about a new to me this month phrase – mid century modern. I am guessing your lovely picture is mid century. It reminds me of the 1950’s/60’s. My husband teases me because there are no pictures on the walls of our house unless he picks them out and puts them up. It’s not that I don’t like pictures, it’s that I only like ones that have a great story behind them like the one you shared today!
Seeing those crocheted hearts brought back memories of the ones exactly like that my Grandmother made us. And they matched the colors of our rooms…..

So many Favorites today. I have a collection of the Crocheted Hearts with Ribbon edging, and I’ve made quite a few as well. I looked forever for a pattern and finally found one in a vintage crochet pamplet. Sure was worth the wait at the auction for the print. I do love the floral and the unique frame….it’s a wonderful piece for your home. Thanks for hosting and for your comment on CITexas Gal today. You know I just the love the color pallet of your home. That picture is so soft and soothing. I can see why you love it. Hope all is well, not too cold. We warmed up this week. 80 today if you can believe it. I think I may scare the neighbors and wear shorts to mow the lawn.

What a lovely print! I love the frame, too. I’ve only been to an auction once and it was so exciting. Hubby bid on an entire set of china that no one seemed to want and got it for $40.00. It’s gorgeous.

Love the print and frame. We used to attend a lot of auctions, and have some “treasures” we purchased for very little. I especially love country auctions where you can find lots of vintage items.

That frame is lovely as is the print! What a deal! I love flower prints too. When I change my guest bedroom into an office this summer I’m thinking of doing a whole wall of thrifted flower paintings.

Aww, thank you for featuring my hearts from last week. You’re sweet. Your painting is so pretty. I love that scalloped frame, too. The story of how you had to ask the auctioneer to take care of one last item before he closed up for the night is so funny. That is kinda crazy that you could go to an auction and wait around all day only to find out that they aren’t going to get around to the thing you are most interested in.

Hi Claudia, I know I’m a day late reading today’s post, somehow I missed it, but had to tell you that I discovered a delightful blog you included called Cottage Industry by Haworth (did I spell that right?). Oh Claudia, that painting is really beautiful. And I love that it has a porcelain bird similar to ones you have in your cottage. I think that proves you were meant to have it!
