A Favorite Thing #27

Week 27 of A Favorite Thing! Welcome. I hope you’ve had a good week in your neck of the woods. I’ve been a bit under the weather but today seems to be a better day and for that I am grateful. Let’s look at some highlights from last week:

trays4

Katherine of Home Made Haven shared her love of trays and especially this kind of tray, where she can remove the glass and change out the design. Very clever!

canvas 3

Dianne of The Pages of My Life, shared this wonderful use of an old decorative hanger. She has reinvented it as a way to hang her artwork. Isn’t this striking? Not to mention how beautiful Dianne’s canvas is!

Lynn of Poppi Linn Studios shared some gorgeous signs of Spring she found at our local garden center’s annual Spring show. Lynn lives near me and I wish I had thought to visit there! Darn it. It sounds like just what the doctor ordered!

My favorite thing for this week:

donshoveling

Watching my husband shovel the 6 or so inches of wet snow that fell overnight.

After a winter where he was away in Southern California working and I was back here shoveling mega amounts of snow, I am so glad that he is here for (hopefully) the last snowfall of the season. I stayed inside. And took pictures. But I did make him a grilled cheese sandwich when he came inside!

Now it’s your turn.

You can link up anytime from this evening through Sunday. Make sure you enter the URL of your post. If you’re unsure how to do that, just click on your post title after you’ve published it and copy the information in your browser address window. Come back here, paste the URL into your link entry and there you go! If you have any problems, drop me an email and I’ll help you out. Please link back to this blog on your post. That way, those that read your post and are interested in reading more can do so.

One of my concerns about link parties is that the very reason for them has somewhat gone by the wayside. They’ve become so big and there are so many of them that many bloggers don’t take the time to visit any of the other participants. Link parties are a way to meet new bloggers and share with each other and the only way to do that is to visit each other. So, please, take some time to visit everyone over the next few days. No rush. Stop by, introduce yourself, and leave a comment. It’s the neighborly thing to do. It’s also nice if you leave a comment here, as well.

Enjoy!

Judging by the photo of your sweet husband I’d say now is the perfect time you tell your husband that “He never looked more attractive”. My hubby and I have an ongoing joke about that comment when I see him vacumning, shoveling the walk and doing dishes. It always brings a smile and a chuckle.
I love your little red house in the background.
Have a great weekend, my friend…and, thank you so much for hosting.
    Smiles,
    Carolynn

    Oh Claudia,
I can only imagine what a lot of work shovelling snow must be…
It makes a gorgeous picture though, especially with the beautiful red barn in the background.
Sending you some healing Summer sunbeams from my corner of the world!

Is he thinking ~ I wish I was back in So Cal? While the snow looks beautiful I think you all have had more than enough of the stuff for one winter. However, the snow is a wonderful backdrop for your sweet red barn. I love it! Thanks for hosting Claudia and I hope you continue to feel better so that you can enjoy a fun weekend. I recommend a good movie on DVD and some popcorn. Very therapeutic.

    Big Hugs,
    Susan and Bentley

My husband is away, crossing “the pond” toward Switzerland as I type. Our son is headed once more to Haiti early Monday morning. My daughter’s family lives far far away…and so this week I am terribly fond of this creation made by the grandchildren, their view of FAMILY, which of course includes their dog, Indy.

We had a lot of snow this week too, but you’re right– doesn’t seem so bad in March. You know it’s on its way out!

Thanks for hosting Claudia!! Nice to see Don home getting reacquainted with the shovel! DH used to work two weeks away, then home for two weeks. It would ALWAYS snow when he was away. I was sure he had a deal with Mother Nature. :) Making grilled cheese is much more fun than shovelling! :)

Hi Claudia – wow! There are a lot of blogs to visit at your party. This will need a cup of tea.
We still have snow here, too but the sun is warmer and the birds are singing. My husband would work for a grilled cheese sandwich, too. Hugs, Deb

Hi again Claudia, we have a couple of bookstores, but I don’t like to go to them because there are no magazines and the books are limited. Sometimes I am able to find craft books. And sometimes those books are so old they aren’t even worth paying money for. But we do travel a few times a year so I am able to visit bookstores in airports or in malls in other countries. Dubai has a fantastic Japanese bookstore. In fact, two of our new teachers from Michigan just went there this weekend and I recommended they go there — they came to my office today and said they were in heaven! They loved it so much. I had them buy another copy of The China Study because the husband of one of our co-workers has cancer. He’s had surgery and radiation and now they are totally changing his eating hoping that will help. The China Study is all about a plant based whole food diet as the professor who wrote it believes that the proteins in animal products are what are causing much of the diseases of today (cancer, obesity, diabetes, heart disease). It’s a very interesting read! Have a great day! Tammy

Love your red shed! It looks fantastic with the trees, little picket fence and the snow. It would make a great print!

Oh, Claudia, when I saw all that large fluffy snow falling I just groaned; but I was so happy that it could be pushed aside with a shovel so easily, despite how messy and ominous it looked. (And what I didn’t shovel was melted by the following afternoon! Huzzah!) Thank you for hosting all these wonderful links. I don’t always get the time to comment, but it’s so lovely to look at all the wonderful things that mean so much to people. Take care.

Welcome!

Welcome!

I live in a little cottage in the country with my husband. It's a sweet place, sheltered by old trees and surrounded by gardens. The inside is full of the things we love. I love to write, I love my camera, I love creating, I love gardening. My decorating style is eclectic; full of vintage and a bit of whimsy.

I've worked in the theater for more years than I can count. I'm currently a voice, speech, dialect and text coach freelancing on Broadway, off Broadway, and in regional theater.

Thanks for stopping by.
