A Favorite Thing #34

April 26, 2013 at 8:00 pm by Claudia

afavoritething

Welcome to A Favorite Thing, week 34. I’m going to be perfectly honest with you. As I write this, I am suffering from a bad old sinus headache. I won’t say it’s a migraine because I know a true migraine is horrendous, but nevertheless, it’s a pain in the tush. (Or head.) So, I hope you will excuse me when I don’t link up my favorite thing for this week. I can’t get it together to look back in files for a photo.

Let’s look at some highlights from last week.

IMG_0008

Clara, from Redeemed Junk and Stuff, shared her newly created idea board. I just love that pop of red against the blue of her walls. Those ribbons you see are ribbons Clara won for her quilts!

Laura, of I’m So Vintage, shared this photo of her granddaughter. She is being pushed by her mom. Look at the delight and love in her eyes as she keeps her eyes on her mom’s face. Oh my.

Reve d'Or

Dottie, of It’s Just Dottie, shared a lovely post about Quiet Joys – one of which is this beautiful rose.

As always, thank you for sharing your favorites every week. I’m so glad you’re here.

Now, it’s your turn!

You can link up anytime from this evening through Sunday. Make sure you enter the URL of your post. If you’re unsure how to do that, just click on your post title after you’ve published it and copy the information in your browser address window. Come back here, paste the URL into your link entry and there you go! If you have any problems, drop me an email and I’ll help you out. Please link back to this blog on your post. That way, those that read your post and are interested in reading more can do so.

One of my concerns about link parties is that the very reason for them has somewhat gone by the wayside. They’ve become so big and there are so many of them that many bloggers don’t take the time to visit any of the other participants. Link parties are a way to meet new bloggers and share with each other and the only way to do that is to visit each other. So, please, take some time to visit everyone over the next few days. No rush. Stop by, introduce yourself, and leave a comment. It’s the neighborly thing to do. It’s also nice if you leave a comment here, as well.

Enjoy!

I read in one of you other earlier posts that you have allergies issues(sorry did not comment – got distracted :(. ) and that is probably the cause of the headache. I deal with allergy issues year round but is always worst in Spring and Fall. Hope you feel better soon.
Thanks for hosting again this week. Enjoy your weekend.

Seasonal allergies are a new thing for us too. We recently moved to PA and this year is our first to have itchy eyes and drippy noses. But…a big rainstorm came through the other day and we both are doing better. Maybe we should pray for a big rain for you too! Your photos are so lovely of the flowering trees. Who can ever get enough…they are so short lived. Sorry too for your bout of homesickness. Some things like that are hard to control But, what memories you have to treasure. Hold them tight.
Blessings for a good time with your actors.

If you like hot & spicy things, try some salsa or a hot Asian dish. Peppers are natural anti histamines. Drink lots of water to flush out all the mucus…..and no I’m not a mother, LOL.

So sorry about your headache….they are no fun, and it always amazes me how one of my migraines shuts me down for the day. :( Hope you arise tomorrow refreshed! Thanks for hosting. I believe this is my first time to link up.

Claudia, first of all, I hope you get to feeling better. It’s not fun being sick away from home. Hope your allergies are much, much better soon.

I really wanted to participate with you all so I joined the fun tonight. I was trying to wait for Mr. Magpie to get home so I could use his computer to link on my blog to yours, but he’s not here. But at least I was able to link with Mr. Linky. I am very unsure on this iPAD, but that being said, I found an older post I had in draft and published it. I wanted to start doing this with you when I can. I hope you don’t mind me not being very organized. I just thought that the piece I got from Rhonda was so pretty I wanted to share. She is very talented. This was meant for my MIL, but when I saw it, I had to have it and had Rhonda create a new one for Mom. It’s equally beautiful. I wish you could see it in person. It’s got tremendous dimension with the drift shells.

I look forward to visiting everyone.

    XO,

    Sheila

Claudia, all of NYC feels your pain today. We’ve gone from brown and barren to blooming like crazy in just a few days. It’s beautiful to look at, but everyone is miserable from the pollen, even people without allergies. It’s just that bad. My drugstore actually ran out of Claritin. The media has been advising people to turn on the AC, in APRIL! My resolve about such things broke down last night and I finally got a decent night’s sleep, although I’m sure to have another type of headache when the electric bill comes. Just know that you’re not alone in this year of epic weather. Treat yourself to a night of AC and feel better soon.

I hope you feel better soon Claudia. Sinus headaches are awful and migraines are such evil things (I get hemaplegic migraines so I look like I’m having a stroke when I get them – scary!). You take care. Chel x

    Hi Claudia,

I used to get really awful sinus headaches when my allergies were at their worst about 15 years ago. Went to see a specialist and I remember he had prescribed a saline nasal spray which really helped to open up my sinus cavity and ultimately, relieve my headaches! I do hope you are feeling better! Thanks for hosting and posting about your theatrical work despite your full schedule at this time! I really miss the stage!

Good Morning Claudia, I am sorry to hear you are feeling so unwell. Spring blossom is so beautiful, but not so, if you are an allergy sufferer.
Thank you so much for taking the time to host this party when you are so unwell. Your days are so busy…. you are amazing to have managed to fit this party into your busy schedule.
Take care of your self and best wishes,
    Daphne

OK, the last thing you need is advice, but for a headache, Gatorade. My husband can even stop a migraine with it. I think it has something to do with being dehydrated. My husband can even get dehydrated when he thinks he is drinking enough. Never felt dehydrated. Too much water can dehydrate you. He had migraines from the time he was 19 and has never had another one since he started drinking more Gatorade (knock on wood). About eight years. Try it, couldn’t hurt. My girlfriend told us about this. She has stopped hers too. Feel better soon.

So sorry about your headache. This is definitely the allergy season from you know where. Thanks so much for featuring my precious little sweetie, and sorry I didn’t link up this week, but trying to get my mom moved into a retirement apartment by Wednesday is proving to take up all my time. Feel better.

Welcome!

Welcome!

I live in a little cottage in the country with my husband. It's a sweet place, sheltered by old trees and surrounded by gardens. The inside is full of the things we love. I love to write, I love my camera, I love creating, I love gardening. My decorating style is eclectic; full of vintage and a bit of whimsy.

I've worked in the theater for more years than I can count. I'm currently a voice, speech, dialect and text coach freelancing on Broadway, off Broadway, and in regional theater.

Thanks for stopping by.
