A Favorite Thing #35

afavoritething

Welcome to A Favorite Thing #35! I hope you’ve had a wonderful week. I have a very heavy rehearsal schedule this weekend and I have a lot of notes to write up as well, so it may be a few days before I can visit you.

Let’s look at some highlights from last week:

icecream1

Nancy, of A Rural Journal, shared some advice with us about ice cream and wine. Very wise, indeed.

SAM_0215

Missy of This N That, shared this glorious photo of a sunrise. Oh my!

020-copy1

Veronica Roth shared these gorgeous bluebells with us. Apparently her neighbors think they are a nuisance and are digging them up. How could they? Veronica is saving them! Aren’t these lovely?

Thanks to all of you for sharing your own particular favorite things.

sunjumpingjacks

This week I’m sharing my husband’s collection of Jumping Jacks. We started this collection a few years back when we bought a newish jumping jack from a Christmas shop. It’s the second one from the right at the top. That got Don started and most of these have been found on eBay or have been given to him as gifts. I love their whimsey.

I made that set of hooks for them a couple of years ago. They hang under our chalkboard right beside the kitchen door. They never fail to make me smile. I’m a big advocate of adding some whimsey to your decorating. I dare you to walk by without pulling on one.

Now it’s your turn!

You can link up anytime from this evening through Sunday. Make sure you enter the URL of your post. If you’re unsure how to do that, just click on your post title after you’ve published it and copy the information in your browser address window. Come back here, paste the URL into your link entry and there you go! If you have any problems, drop me an email and I’ll help you out. Please link back to this blog on your post. That way, those that read your post and are interested in reading more can do so.

One of my concerns about link parties is that the very reason for them has somewhat gone by the wayside. They’ve become so big and there are so many of them that many bloggers don’t take the time to visit any of the other participants. Link parties are a way to meet new bloggers and share with each other and the only way to do that is to visit each other. So, please, take some time to visit everyone over the next few days. No rush. Stop by, introduce yourself, and leave a comment. It’s the neighborly thing to do. It’s also nice if you leave a comment here, as well.

Claudia, I think you know how much I love your little jiggling doll/jumping jacks. I think my favorite might be the second from the left. I love the fact that you have displayed them where you can see them every day. I would, too. They are a guaranteed day lifter.

I had a very tough time trying to connect tonight. I have thrown off the internet by our server about 15 times. It stops me in the middle of posting, etc. But I think I managed to link up with you. WHEW!

I have been thinking about you all day, and do you know what I found online on YouTube? A wonderful Neil Young Concert from 1971, and it is some of his best work being debuted. I love it. I know we are from the same era, so I will try and send you a link when my server settles down. Racing to post this before it conks out on me again.

Hope you are having a nice evening and getting some rest from a hectic few days.

    XO,

    Sheila

This has been SOME week Claudia. More work/weird adventures on getting settled in than you could have dreamed up. Glad things settled down and you are settled in more comfortably than day one. Take care of you.

Thank you for hosting No. 35, that is a lot of great favorites.

I’m now itching to pull the string of one of the Jumping Jacks. Perhaps I’ll start with the bird . . .

    Hi Claudia,

Your collection is TOO cute! I love the texture of your display with the different heights, the soft turquoise hook and of course, the red and white striped chair pad – just IN CASE they should DO decide to jump! :)

This week is Holy Week for Orthodox Christians. Easter is the most important celebration for us and today I’m sharing a post on its many traditions and customs.

    Have a great weekend!

Love those Jumping Jacks! Every time they appear on your blog, I think they are so cute! I absolutely would have to pull one (or three) whenever I walked by :)
Hope you’re finally getting some sleep on your new, non-concrete, mattress!

Welcome!

Welcome!

I live in a little cottage in the country with my husband. It's a sweet place, sheltered by old trees and surrounded by gardens. The inside is full of the things we love. I love to write, I love my camera, I love creating, I love gardening. My decorating style is eclectic; full of vintage and a bit of whimsy.

I've worked in the theater for more years than I can count. I'm currently a voice, speech, dialect and text coach freelancing on Broadway, off Broadway, and in regional theater.

Thanks for stopping by.
