Welcome to week number 43 of A Favorite Thing! I’m waterlogged from all the rain we’ve had; when it hasn’t been raining, I’ve been just as waterlogged from the humidity. Nevertheless, I’ve been trying to grab some time to mow the lawn. Rain = grass too long. Anyway, let’s look at some highlights from last week:
Virginia Retro shared a visit to the Flea Market and this beautiful vintage tablecloth she found there. Yep, she brought it home with her. I love vintage tablecloths.
We Call It Junkin shared a tutorial on how to make this punch bowl ring. Isn’t it gorgeous? This is the kind of thing I never think to make!
And Lorrie of Fabric Paper Thread shared the bouquet she made simply by strolling through her garden with her clippers. So lovely!
My favorite thing this week is this:
I have unimaginatively named it The Wrought Iron Thingy. Shameful, I know. I found it four years ago at a flea market in Southern California. I was working out there for an extended period of time and found quite a few little treasures at my favorite haunts. I think this is from Mexico. I just fell for the rusty-but-once-white wrought iron and the shape of it. I knew I could use it in many ways. At the end of my stay, I had it packed in a big old box and shipped it home. At first, I placed it on the kitchen table and decorated it for the seasons. But then I painted my kitchen table white and I didn’t want The Wrought Iron Thingy to scratch the paint. Plus, it’s big and takes up a lot of room. So now it lives on the porch and I like it there. I think I’ve found the perfect place for it.
Now it’s your turn.
You can link up anytime from this evening through Sunday. Make sure you enter the URL of your post. If you’re unsure how to do that, just click on your post title after you’ve published it and copy the information in your browser address window. Come back here, paste the URL into your link entry and there you go! If you have any problems, drop me an email and I’ll help you out. Please link back to this blog on your post. That way, those that read your post and are interested in reading more can do so.
One of my concerns about link parties is that the very reason for them has somewhat gone by the wayside. They’ve become so big and there are so many of them that many bloggers don’t take the time to visit any of the other participants. Link parties are a way to meet new bloggers and share with each other and the only way to do that is to visit each other. So, please, take some time to visit everyone over the next few days. No rush. Stop by, introduce yourself, and leave a comment. It’s the neighborly thing to do. It’s also nice if you leave a comment here, as well.
Enjoy!

I love your wrought iron thingy. (WIT) I can already think of 34 things to fill it with. Flowers, seashells, kittens . . . okay, they wouldn’t sit still, but it would still be cute.
Thanks for the party hearty.

The WIT is so charming and I am happy to know that you brought it home with you. It is just your style (mine too) and I can’t think of a nicer place for it than on your front porch! Thank you for hosting Claudia and have a great weekend.
Big Hugs,
Susan and Bentley

I’m back! A little while ago I left a very long comment. And when I pushed ‘post’ my internet went down. Arrrgh!!! It finally came back and I checked on the comment and it’s not here. So…here it is in a nutshell.
Rain…we’ve had too much too! Wheelbarrows full, literally.
Sedum…I’ve started lots of new plants from those lovely found seedlings
Something else…I forgot – LOL!
And my favorite thing is my sunroom because it’s an unnecessary room in our house…we’ve never had one before…it’s super small…but it’s perfect for breakfast and gazing out the window and seeing the mountains and tree tops. Plus…I can decorate it with my every whim.
Hope your weekend is Extraordinary, Claudia!

I’m digging that iron thingy! So versatile…makes anything look pretty. :) I also love that tablecloth. I got some of the vintage tableclothes my mom had collected over the winter as we went thru her things. :) Glad we all like the same things. Thanks for hosting :)

Thanks Claudia for a sweet escape each week… love seeing what your readers share!
…now to catch up! Pat

Good Morning Claudia, Is it really Saturday already??? where do the weeks go. It sounds like we are experiencing the same type of weather, George managed to nip into the garden and cut the grass just before we had more rain. The rain is wonderful for the plants, but I am beginning to feel like a duck as there is so much water around. The weather is better in the South of England, I think maybe I need a trip south.
I smiled when I read that you had named your Favourite Thing “A wrought iron thingy”…. it is a really interesting piece as it could be filled with all sorts.
Thank you for hosting another lovely party as it is fun to see what everyone has been up to.
Have a lovely weekend Claudia….. I am thinking of you.
Best Wishes
Daphne

Hi Claudia,
Your WIT and all the other features are fun! I JUST managed to get my first swim of the season in; and I live 15 minutes from a beautiful beach, which I’ve linked up to today. Sad, huh? Thanks for hosting and have a great weekend!

Morning, Claudia! We have had a bit of rain the last two days and I learned that means 2-3 inches of standing water in containers and water logged green beans and mini pumpkins…..manage to dump that out and then pull a neck muscle, ouch….as these are large containers with quite a bit of dirt!
.BUT it also means standing on the street below me while the grandkids run through long mud puddles at least 50 times before they get tired, lol!

Wow! Thank you so much for featuring my ice ring this week! You just made my day. Partying with you again this week. I love the wrought iron thingy and I think the name is great. I love that you didn’t repaint it!!!! Blessings – Dawn @ We Call It Junkin

I suppose you could always point your nose to the heavens and elevate the name to “the wrought iron objet d’art”, but I like the ring of “thingy”.
It’s my second time to join in your gathering, Claudia. I’ll be sure to visit the other participants over the next few days.

I’m a little late, but happy to be joining in with 2 favorite tablecloths. Thanks so much for featuring my tablecloth from last weeks A Favorite Thing! Love your wrought iron “thingy”, and think you found the perfect spot for it!

I have a similar ‘wrought iron thingy’ which right now holds a selection of yellowed vintage books with the covers removed (naughty perhaps but I found them that way in a thrift shop), tied up with old string – in the dining room! You know me, always looking for something quirky and cheap but which makes a statement!!! Yours is perfect on the porch.
Claudia, I did leave a comment on your ‘struggle post’ but don’t see it – hope it posted and you read it – there were so many! Just wanted you to know I think about you and hope times improve – hang in there dear one
Hugs – hope all is well – you are a REAL trouper!!!!!!!
Love, Mary
