Welcome back to A Favorite Thing – week number nine. As we close out the week, it’s always fun to share some favorite things with each other. I think it’s a nice way to start the weekend. Let’s take a look at some of last week’s highlights:
Melanie, of A Comfy Cottage, shared her love of books with us – an affliction that many of us share. Melanie has books stashed all over her house and in her post she shows us some of the ways she displays them.
Liz, of Rose Vignettes, shared her new café au lait bowls that she got from Lidy at French Garden House. They are so lovely, aren’t they? You’d better believe I had my eye on that chocolate marshmallowy goodie in the foreground.
Clara, of Rosewalk Cottage, shared the striking arrangement she made for her foyer. Beautiful, Clara! I love the vivid fall colors.
——————————————————————————————————————————————-
This week I’m sharing two favorite things. In the foreground is my grandmother’s baby shoe. My mom passed this treasure on to me. The leather is still amazingly supple after all these years. I love the little white buttons. Obviously, this is priceless to me and I keep it tucked in the china cabinet in the den. Right behind it is one of my McCoy Singing Birds. I have 3 of them – 2 in aqua and one in this cream color.
Now, it’s your turn! What do you have to share this week?
You can link up anytime from this evening through Sunday. Make sure you enter the URL of your post. If you’re unsure how to do that, just click on your post title after you’ve published it and copy the information in your browser address window. Come back here, paste the URL into your link entry and there you go! If you have any problems, drop me an email and I’ll help you out. Please link back to this blog on your post. That way, those that read your post and are interested in reading more can do so.
One of my concerns about link parties is that the very reason for them has somewhat gone by the wayside. They’ve become so big and there are so many of them that many bloggers don’t take the time to visit any of the other participants. Link parties are a way to meet new bloggers and share with each other and the only way to do that is to visit each other. So, please, take some time to visit everyone over the next few days. No rush. Stop by, introduce yourself, and leave a comment. It’s the neighborly thing to do.

Good Friday evening, Claudia.
Oh….What sweet little button up shoes. There is something so special…so precious about the sentimental keepsakes from our Mother’s and Grandmother’s lives.
Today has been one of my favorite kind of days with baking molasses cookies and blogging. It’s blue skies, crisp and cool here in the Pacific Northwest. I am so aware of the storm that is moving your way…Please know that you will be in my thoughts and prayers these next few days.
Thank you for hosting this nostalgic blog party.
Blessings,
Carolynn

Hi Claudia:
The little boot deserves a special spot in your china cabinet. No wonder I love these cabinets so much. They are always used to keep our most precious items in. Thanks for having your party and I enjoy looking at everyone’s special treasures. Not sure why there is a little red x beside my entry. Oh well, it still worked. Hugs, Deb

Hi Claudia,
That little shoe is so precious. How lucky you are to have it.
I was wondering…why is there always a little red X by my name?
Thanks for hosting this fun thing each week.

I have a very similar pair of shoe that I think was my aunt’s from the 20s. Aren’t they cute? Love the bird too! So sweet! Thanks again for hosting. Enjoy it!

Hi Claudia, I so enjoyed catching up on your posts! Love visiting you :)

Hi Claudia, Leaving another comment. Hope you are safe during the storm. My daughter was at her 2nd home in Wi. for a few days, but she’s flying out early because of her cat, who is in DC. She has someone taking care of him…but he may not be able to because of the storm. I pray the predictions are wrong. Blessings this weekend. Balisha

Hi Claudia,
Well, first time joining your wonderful party. For me, ”favourite” goes hand in hand with sentimental significance, and so, although I’ve been meaning to link up here from the very beginning, I didn’t just want to write about ”favourite” in the usual way. Thanks for inspiring me once again, and reminding me of the little girl with big dreams!
Hope you’re having a great weekend!

Well, I got up this morning prepared to photograph my favorite this, but it is so dark and gray out today, I just can’t get any good pictures. Guess I will have to wait till next week. SIGH!!!

What a darling little shoe… and the McCoy bird. Sigh. Lovely.
Susy says
Hi Claudia ~ love your Grandmother’s shoe; now that’s really a treasure. And of course you know I adore your McCoy bird – I have a turquoise one too (: I didn’t get it together to post A Favorite Thing this week (see my post) but will enjoy visiting everyone else. Praying you’ll be safe and sound if Sandy hits your area. Hugs xo Susy

I just love that tiny little shoe! You have so many wonderful treasures with such personal memories attached, Claudia. Well, we’re officially under a State of Emergency here in Massachusetts through Wednesday. I’m still praying that at the last minute Sandy heads out to sea. Stay safe… Donna
Cass at That Old House says
Hi Claudia!
LOVE the tiny baby boot. How adorable, and in such excellent shape.
Thanks for hosting!
I hope we don’t all lose power on the East Coast — we’d have to slow down the blogging.

ok…this will give me another week to try and post a Favorite Thing.
I will read and re-read how to do that. Then I will tweak your brain
until I understand how to do this. I love your blog and Brenda’s. She
is an inspiration for me to get back to my blog. I have so many stories
to tell. It is time.
hugs…

That baby shoe is completely adorable! What a sweet treasure. And I love the bird. Birds are such popular things to collect. I love the white.
Great party this week. I look forward to visiting around.

That baby shoe is adorable, Claudia, and certainly priceless. What a treasure to have. And I love that little bird. It reminds me of those darling “pie” birds you see sticking up from crusts to let the steam out. Thank you for hosting again. It’s always so interesting to look through and see everyone’s favorite things.
