Well, I made it through the day yesterday on four hours of sleep. The run-through went very well. Then I ran into some problems with the theater on how I get paid, which eventually got resolved. Still pisses me off, however. When I finally got home I had to fill out additional paperwork and then I collapsed in my chair. Kept falling asleep throughout the evening…
I have a bit of a break before I have to drive to NJ on Tuesday. Today’s theme (for both of us) is ‘Do Nothing.’
Adrian is still in a great deal of pain and it’s taken a while for him to think and respond to questions clearly. That’s slowly getting better, according to Margaret. How I wish he wasn’t dealing with pain!
We text one question a day to Margaret because we know she’s got her hands full. We usually wait until the evening. Prayers for Adrian and Margaret and Adrian’s son, Tyler.
I forgot to include these beauties in my little egg cup tour! I suspect I’ll find a few more that were left out.
The silver egg cup on the left (which I quickly polished this morning with an anti-tarnish cloth) is my most expensive egg cup. Don bought it for me in Paris several years ago. It’s petite in size and that art nouveau design is gorgeous. (It’s currently reflecting the surface of the stool, so keep that in mind.)
The two beauties on the right are antique egg cups from Germany. I found them on eBay a few years ago. I love anything with bluebirds, so I had to have them. Aren’t they lovely? The birds are so detailed and delicate.
I’m going to take it very, very easy today with a possible stroll around the property to see the green buds on the lilacs and the crabapple tree next to the catalpa.
It’s going to be 88 degrees here today. I mean, come on! Way too hot!
Stay safe.
Happy Thursday.

I know, what crazy weather for the middle of April. Continued prayers for Adrian and his family. I’m taking the kidkets (Jessie and Walter) to a birthday party. They are so excited. There might be pictures. Enjoy your day. Recoup your strength. Enjoy your walk in the garden. Hugs, Elaine. PS loved your egg cups.
Claudia says
Thank you so much, Elaine.
Stay safe.

I’ve never seen a silver egg cup before. It’s a beauty!
I’m sorry to hear Adrian is still in so much pain. I imagine recovery takes awhile.
88° is ridiculous. I agree, too hot for April.
We have had some beautiful weather this week. It’s been in the high 60s and hit 73 yesterday. We had perfect weather for our granddaughter’s soccer game yesterday. Not too hot, not too cold..no coat needed. But next week we drop back into the 40’s and rain, maybe even snow. It’s crazy.
Take care
Claudia says
It is indeed crazy. We usually have a couple of unseasonably warm days in Spring. We don’t have central a/c and we’re not about to install our window units yet, so we’re running a fan. Sigh.
Stay safe, Marilyn.

glad that you and don plan to take it easy today. a walk around your property sounds nice … pretty plant sightings to see, getting some fresh outside air and maybe help with strength and sleep …?
too bad the payment process hasn’t been smoother. hopefully this new paperwork means they’ll get your pay to you more quickly for putting you through unnecessary stress.
more lovely egg cups! i can see why you like them so much.
prayers continue for adrian and the heart donor, their families and friends.
i don’t function or feel well in higher heat and humidity so, for me, these 80-plus degree temperatures are not welcome!
hope you are having a nice, easy day.
kathy
Claudia says
I don’t do well with humidity at all, my allergies flare up. Plus, it’s just plain uncomfortable.
Stay safe, Kathy.

Sounds like you’ve earned your day of rest! 88 degrees is a bit ridiculous, hopefully it will cool down for you, We hit 83 yesterday, and spent a good portion of it outside. We went out with the full intention of doing a little yard work, but spent almost the entire time visiting with neighbors we hadn’t seen in months. Everybody around us is retired. The joys and pitfalls of a close neighborhood in the city. So, we will try again this afternoon.
I sincerely hope Adrian continues to improve, and that his pain subsides quickly. This must be extremely difficult for his wife as well. Prayers sent, fingers crossed.
The silver egg cup from Paris is stunning. A nice addition to your collection.
Enjoy your stroll around your grounds! ;)
Claudia says
I love that egg cup. It’s such a treasured memory of our time in Paris.
Stay safe, Donnamae.

Today sounds like a perfect day for a walk through the property and a look at the new buds. Same here in Michigan. It’s so nice to be outside again! My neighbors are coming out of hibernation, as am I, and it’s good to see them again.
I am in love with all three of these stunning egg cups, especially the silver Paris offering. It’s a beauty.
Here’s hoping they get your pay resolved and soon. I can see why that would be especially aggravating. And it’s time for a rest for you both. Yes, do nothing! Except take that walk!
Claudia says
It’s too long a story to share, but I was quite pissed off on Wednesday. They screwed up. It happens. Now I’ll sigh and shake it off.
Stay safe, Jeanie.
Beverly says
When my husband had bypass surgery years ago he was in a lot of pain for about two months and some lesser pain for a while after that. He pretty much lived in his recliner and could not handle the bed or anything else. I can really sympathize with Adrian, whose pain is probably even worse than my husband’s was and the worry has definitely been greater. Adrian and his wife will definitely be in my thoughts just as they were while they before the surgery.
The silver egg cup is gorgeous.
Claudia says
Thank you, Beverly. He’s in enormous pain and they’re doing all they can to minimize it.
Stay safe, Beverly.
Nora Mills says
I’m very sorry They can’t control your friends pain. Have no clue what it’s like to go through that kind of trauma on one’s body. I do hope you start feeling well soon. I am not a fan of the heat, but it’s in the 80s today and maybe the 90s tomorrow. I’m hoping the house will stay cool enough with the Curtains partly drawn and the fans on. Hope you get some good rest
Claudia says
Well, they can control it to an extent. But he’s on so much medication because of the transplant I imagine they have to be very careful about side effects, etc.
Same here, blinds closed in the afternoon, windows closed, and a fan running.
Stay safe, Nora.
Chris K in WI says
Hope Adrian can heal and the pain diminishes. I believe the pain of the patient is felt by the care-givers as well. One’s attitude is greatly affected. I remember hearing myself say something that sounded so nasty, the words came out before I could stop myself. Pain is just awful.
Glad you had a do nothing day today!! Hope it helped in your healing process. How is Don feeling? I bet the walk helped! Leaves are leafing out here and everything is coming up from the ground. We have been in the 80’s, but a chance of rain mixed with snow on Sunday…. ugh. Not my favorite time of year. But has been lovely to have windows open!!
Glad your communting is nearly done and hope your trip on Saturday is a good one. Take care.
Claudia says
Don still feels sick, as I do. We’re doing better overall, but this thing hangs on for weeks, apparently. And he’s in a lot of pain because of his thumb. It’s a very hard time for him.
The trip is on Tuesday next week. Thankfully, I have the weekend free.
Stay safe, Chris.
