A Foggy Saturday

October 15, 2022 at 8:51 am by Claudia

Another foggy morning; mysterious, autumn colors, leaves on the ground.

Lovely.

We were going to get our boosters on Monday, but Don remembered that he has an appointment with his retina doctor, which he has already delayed once – and he badly needs a shot – so we rescheduled for Wednesday. We’ll probably get our flu shots the week after. A rare flurry of evening activity as we confirmed with the eye doctor and went online to reschedule our shots.

The completed puzzle. It’s called “The Market” and the cover is from 1957. It has lots and lots of tiny details so it was a challenge. Note the register tape on the left – prices were pretty darned cheap compared to today. I have another one arriving today because…you know…I panic a bit when I don’t have a puzzle on hand. They’re my zen.

I do have a couple of projects on tap for today. Both of them have to do with dolls. More on that later because one of them is a venture into new territory. Gulp.

And we are cleaning the gutters. The porch gutters are full of leaves. (Yes, we’ll be careful. No, we’re not ready to have someone else do it.)

What else? I’m starting – just starting – to think about the Beacon Hill project. I have no idea which way I want to go with it, but painting each room with white paint will give me a clean palette.

Stay safe.

Happy Saturday.

I’m very curious to see what projects you are planning with your dolls. Loved your picture of a foggy fall day, very misty. Enjoy your weekend. Enjoy your new puzzle. Hugs, Elaine

The retina shots always help. We just need to see the doctor.

dear Claudia/Don — like that foggy pix — nothing even close here, just dry. hope the shot will help Don’s eye — I can’t even fathom having that done — grateful for my good eyes. be VERY careful cleaning gutters — ONLY do that when both of you are home — sorry to sound like a harping witch but unplanned events can occur — that’s why they are called accidents ! ask me how I know, haha!! this puzzle is great — is it 1,000 pieces?? have one on dining rm table partly together — either need to finish it or put away b/f Tgiving. hope your wknd is good. stay safe/healthy

Of course we only do the gutters when both of us are here. If I wasn’t here, Don would ask a neighbor to spot him.

      The puzzle is 1000 pieces.

      Stay safe, Linda!

I love the New Yorker puzzle, especially the mid century illustration. Autumn is well and truly here – Season of mists and mellow fruitfulness …..

In answer to your question – Yes, Babylon Berlin 4 aired last night in the UK! I was out so I shall be catching up with it tonight.
Just got home from meeting two former library colleagues for coffee and I still need to make a batch of Rocky Road which I’ve never made before but it was on list of items needed for Church. It’s my contribution to Afternoon Tea tomorrow.
The Lady Vicar is 70 this month. She has chosen 5 cherry tree saplings as her retirement gift, one to be planted in the 4 Parishes that she looks after and the other for her own garden.

    Happy Saturday

I’m jealous! We have to wait. I don’t know when it’s going to air on Netflix here, but I suspect it won’t be until next year.

The afternoon tea sounds lovely – a beautiful tribute to your Vicar.

      Stay safe, Dee Dee.

Your picture today could be the opening scene to a murder mystery. Lovely, yet mysterious.

I, too, am curious to find out what is the project with the girls. Curious minds want to know.

I know you’ll be careful cleaning your gutters…enjoy your day! ;)

      We are always extremely careful!

Cleaned them out and now it looks like we never cleaned them. It’s the time of year when leaves are falling all of the time.

      Stay safe, Donnamae.

I like your puzzle. I bet the twelve for a dollar is corn on the cob. I remember that price from when I was a kid. I have a built in shelf above my microwave that is above the stove. It is only about six inches high. I display old spice tins on the shelf. Some of them are stamped 19 cents. I noticed there were a few 19 cent items on the cash register receipt.

We had gutter guards put on
I was just too fearful for us
Maybe you could look into that

Our gutters are bowed because of the age of the house and the rooflines. It wouldn’t be practical.

Today is a beautiful golden aspen day. It made me think of that quote from L.M.
Montgomery something like this..”I am glad I live in world where there are Octobers.” I started reading the new Elizabeth Strout book, “Lucy by the Sea.” I am enjoying it.

    Take Care,
    Kaye

Welcome!

Welcome!

I live in a little cottage in the country with my husband. It's a sweet place, sheltered by old trees and surrounded by gardens. The inside is full of the things we love. I love to write, I love my camera, I love creating, I love gardening. My decorating style is eclectic; full of vintage and a bit of whimsy.

I've worked in the theater for more years than I can count. I'm currently a voice, speech, dialect and text coach freelancing on Broadway, off Broadway, and in regional theater.

Thanks for stopping by.
