I’m writing this in a hurry! My host has been having server problems for the past three days, which leaves me unable to access the blog for hours at a time. They’re working on it, of course, but my patience is wearing thin. This is normally not a problem – my hosting service is pretty darned excellent. But if you have problems getting on the blog, that’s why. Hang in there! (I say this to myself, as well.)
The drive home from the city was very easy. I think my uneasiness about it was due to the fact that I hadn’t done it in a long while. It was a piece of cake. I made good time and was home by 11 am. It’s been raining heavily since yesterday afternoon, so I didn’t come home to sunny skies, but then again, it’s raining in the city as well.
I went back to The Sill on Sunday to buy another ZZ plant for my desk upstairs in the office. And then I saw this:
It’s a sansevieria (there are several different varieties.) I fell in love with the spiky cylindrical leaves. They aren’t flat like the sansevieria I have in the kitchen. They’re puffy cylinders and I’m fascinated by the way the new shoots grow. Don was equally fascinated so he got one for the apartment.
I’m waiting for a break in the rain to run to the grocery store. That’s my exciting agenda for the day. It’s good to be home but I’d like some sun, please!
Selfie in Central Park.
Happy Tuesday.

Ok…quick response…glad your back safe and sound. You are not alone in the lack of sunshine department. Never saw a plant like that before…almost looks like an aloe vera. Happy day to you! ;)

It’s like a sculpture!

I had trouble getting on your blog yesterday but so far today has been fine. Glad you made it home safely and ugh, more rain!
Claudia says
The rain is driving me nuts – I just want it to let up enough for me to run some errands!

I love unusual succulents, Claudia. Yours certainly is! I’m rushing out to the garden to do some outside chores before another rain hits tomorrow. I woke up to news that the tsunami warning along the West Coast, triggered by a 7.9 Alaskan quake early early this morning, has been canceled. Canceled before most of us knew about it!
Claudia says
Whoa! Thank goodness!

glad you made it home safely/can get back readily to don and nyc and that the blog-host problem was resolved.
love that long-shot view of your home … so charming! and that double-selfie of you and don in central park, too. :) :)
rain = free carwash and ice-melt. does that help? :)

The car is so dirty that it really needs an actual car wash!

That is an interesting plant! Cylindrical leaves?! Also, such a cute selfie.
We have sunshine for a change in the Sunshine State. We’d forgotten what that looked like!
Claudia says
Yay! The sun just came out after torrential rain all morning long.

Claudia, I love the selfie in Central Park. Also the previous post of Don standing under the marquee of his show. What an honor. Glad you found that bookstore and the plant shop. Blessings, stay safe, xoxo, Susie

Thank you, Susie!

We are gloomy here, as well. We had over an inch of rain yesterday and then the temps dropped and it got icy. Just cloudy and grey here today. 50* by Friday. Without any snow on the ground, the temps do fluctuate quite a bit. Maybe the rain is melting some of your ice. The bad thing is that with frost in the ground, here it just puddles and re-freezes over night. ugh.
That is quite an interesting plant. Almost looks like someone used scrapbook paper and created it! Pretty.
Hope you get to the grocer. I think I am staying in and reading. I have a book due on Thursday and still have about 200 pages to go. I bet Don was tired after rehearsals yesterday! Enjoy the remainder of your Tuesday.
Claudia says
It’s melting some of the ice, thank goodness, but there’s still a lot there.
I’m headed to the store right now!

Ah, that explains it! Have experienced some quirky issues with your blog for a couple of days now – timeouts etc. Weird for YOUR blog to be finicky. Glad to hear [a] it’s over and [b] it wasn’t a problem on my end. Rainy here too, off & on, but nothing torrential. Not yet anyway. Very dark & dreary. I’m on the sunny side of my building & yet have the desk light on right now. Yuck. I guess it COULD be worse [it could be snowing]. Hope you get to the store. Being housebound in the Winter is a rather cozy feeling, as long as one has sufficient goodies on hand, that is. Dontcha think? Peace.

Yes, I first noticed it on Sunday, but then it improved. When it happened again yesterday, I called my host and they said it was a server problem. When it happened again this morning – I tweeted my host and by the time they checked on it, it was better. Here’s hoping it’s fixed.
Yes, being housebound is okay as long as the larder is stocked, which is why I went out to shop today!

a great selfie from central park. and the pic of the main cottage rooms so cheery!
i’m having vertigo. so if I visit and don’t type here… not because of lack of interest.

I’m so sorry you’re suffering from that! I hope you feel better soon. Don’t worry about commenting!

Love the picture of your home. I was afraid of putting yellow walls in a room with even a small amount of red until I saw it online. It convinced me to try it in our family room and it really worked! Glad to see it in another room where it worked so well.
Claudia says
I think it’s such a cheery combination!

The rain has stopped here also…now it is going back to being colder like in the 30’s Wednesday and Thursday…I am trying to find out the name of that plant but I might just have to go searching for one…
Claudia says
Yep. Colder here, as well – and windy. I tried finding the name of that variety of sansevieria and couldn’t. If you find it, let me know!
Nancy Blue Moon says
I will Claudia!
