A Little Indulgence

March 23, 2022 at 8:33 am by Claudia

It’s the simple things, really, that lift our spirits. I could tell Don was feeling restless yesterday. It was a lovely sunny spring day and at one point he said “Let me know if you want to take a drive.” So we did. We drove a little south of our cottage to get some Five Guys french fries. (I also quickly stopped at the bookstore and bought an inexpensive magazine.)

We rarely treat ourselves to these fries, but yesterday seemed like a good day to do so. We ate the fries in our car, did some people watching, and had a great conversation. It was lovely. I highly recommend having a lunch consisting solely of french fries every so often.

We felt refreshed.

My back is getting better – it is at its worst when I first wake up in the morning, but I’m recovering much more quickly from the initial pain and the rest of the day is fairly easy. But I’m still being careful because outdoor work is just around the corner and I want to be able to move freely.

Imogen getting ready to take Bertie for a walk.

Zoe wearing a new deer headband that arrived in yesterday’s mail. A wonderful woman from Spain makes these and I asked her long time ago to add me to her waiting list. She contacted me a few weeks ago to say it was my turn to choose what I wanted and I went with something fairly simple but charming. A deer seemed perfect, given how much we love deer around here,

It’s really beautifully made.

Zoe was very eager to try it on.

I swear, the cuteness in Blythe world is amazing.

Stay safe.

Happy Wednesday.

The girls look darling! That sweater Imogen is wearing is perfect for a coolish spring day.

Glad you are both feeling better. A Fry lunch sounds grand! An occasional Onion Ring brunch sounds equally wonderful.

We had some beautiful rain yesterday to help our drought situation. The grass is readying itself to burst forth in green. Can’t wait! Hope you have a good day. Take care.

The accessories for the girls are my favorite things, although that sweater is so darling. I can see why you’re hooked!

Yes, it can get addictive. I’m reining the purchases in now. Have to be happy with what I have!

      Stay safe, Karen.

    Love Imogen’s outfit! She’s a cutie!

A drive can be such a nice thing, isn’t it? We took the old road part of the way to Detroit Sunday and it was nice not to be on the highway for the whole thing — everyone was going so fast, it felt nervewracking.

I feel for your back. Since my fall, mine has become progressively worse. I have an appointment for manipulation in another two weeks but I’m not sure I can wait that long. I’m sure it doesn’t help that I’m limping because of the knee. But I try to keep moving, though I’m pretty much saddled to the computer, working on my book. A friend gave me a pretty porcelain palette last week and I’m itching to paint!

I hope the week is a good one — and yes, every now and then fries are perfect!

Yes, it was a very simple drive, but it was refreshing. Today, however, is gray anddark. We’re going to get a lot of rain overnight.

      Stay safe, Jeanie.

Our postwoman does know us personally, but not because of these – because we are really nice and friendly and have had long conversations with her over the 16 years we’ve lived here.

      Stay safe.

A french fry lunch sounds delightful. Especially Five Guys….the fries are so good.

I’m happy to hear your back is doing better. Gardening season is on its way whether we are ready or not. We did some nice rain,…more still on its way…yay.

Cute deer headband! The accessories for your girls are mind boggling. Enjoy your day! ;)

      Their fries are the best!

Back is better, but it fluctuates. I’d just like it to get better and stay better.

      Stay safe, Donnamae.

Five Guys french fries!! That would go perfectly with my favorite: chocolate and vanilla swirl Frosty from Wendy’s. Mmmmm.

Is the deer headband felted wool, or is that boiled wool? Such a cute look!

I believe it’s felted wool. This woman is extremely talented!

Your girls and their outfits are so adorable!
I feel for you and your back. I am trying to recover from a sprained hip due to a fall on ice so I can work in the yard. Not making progress as quickly as I hoped. Today is cold and yucky so it’s okay for now.
    Here’s to recovery! xo

Welcome!

Welcome!

I live in a little cottage in the country with my husband. It's a sweet place, sheltered by old trees and surrounded by gardens. The inside is full of the things we love. I love to write, I love my camera, I love creating, I love gardening. My decorating style is eclectic; full of vintage and a bit of whimsy.

I've worked in the theater for more years than I can count. I'm currently a voice, speech, dialect and text coach freelancing on Broadway, off Broadway, and in regional theater.

Thanks for stopping by.
