That was really interesting, and so nice to hear your voice Claudia!
You have put your stamp on the space and have made it comfy – other than having the a/c problem which hopefully will be fixed sooner rather than later!
Like the city view through the chicken wire window – rather unusual.
Enjoy the day dear.
Hugs – Mary
Claudia says
I love that chicken wire window, Mary.
Sylvia says
I enjoyed my breakfast tour with you! And I really love the pansy quilt. … If you ever get tired of it … ha!
Claudia says
I’ll keep you in mind, Sylvia!
Cindy says
Enjoyed the tour over coffee. Was great to connect the voice to the writer.
Claudia says
Thanks, Cindy!
Lori says
Thanks for the tour which I also watched with my morning coffee. You’ve done so much with those stark white rooms!
Hope your weather has improved :)
Lori
Claudia says
Not yet. Hopefully, the heat wave will be no more by tomorrow.
Regina Engling says
How fun ! Even though you’ve shared pictures of your little working apartment away from home — and those pictures were very nice — the video is so much better, made me feel as though you invited me in for a visit. And, I now have a ‘voice’ to put to a face ! Thank you again for sharing your world.
Claudia says
You are most welcome, Regina.
Linda @ A La Carte says
Claudia it was fun to hear your voice and see your cute little place! Love the quilts!
Claudia says
Thanks, Linda!
Judy Ainsworth says
Claudia, It’s kind of funny,I recognized your voice the minute you started talking! From reading your blog for such a long time, you sounded just exactly like I knew you would. That was fun, and you have made your home away from home really cute! -Judy A-
Claudia says
Thanks so much, Judy!
Dottie in Missouri says
You have made the space so You! Loved hearing your voice. What a great idea. Now on to your cottage, porch and garden! Cooler weather is coming, supposedly.
Claudia says
I’ll have to do some more of these little tours, Dottie!
Beach Bungalow says
Wow, Claudia … how long will you be there? Looks like you’ve moved in, lol!
So nice to hear your voice.

Claudia says
I will have been here a total of 10 weeks when I’m finished. That’s two and a half months. You’re darn right it looks like I’ve moved in!! It’s too long a stretch not to make it a home-away-from-home.
chris says
Your background/career has always been evident in your writing: choice of words, speech pattern, that sort of thing.
No surprise to “hear” this too. You are very precise with your words, unlike so many of us who tend to add bits and bobs, so to speak, when communicating. Dare I say that you sound a bit like Martha Stewart? This is meant as a compliment as I do appreciate good speaking voices. With a good topic, you would easily keep a roomful engaged. Any public speaking in your future?
Claudia says
Well, I fear I’m not always so precise – ask Don! I’ve done some public speaking in the past. BlogHer should ask me to speak at their convention, don’t you think?
Kathy says
Thanks for the tour. I love those windows.
Claudia says
Me too, Kathy!
Lorrie says
Well that was fun! So nice to see your space and how you’ve put your own stamp on it. Your voice is lovely, rich and modulated. Really great intonation – your profession shows!
Claudia says
My professional life has been all about my voice; first as an actress and singer, then as a teacher of voice and speech. Thanks, Lorrie!
Linda says
That was great. Loved seeing your apt and hearing what you sound like. Thanks for having me over. :)
Catch ya tomorrow. Smiles to you. Linda
Claudia says
Thanks, Linda!
Pat says
Claudia-
How wonderful to hear your voice! I liked that the most about the tour.
The apartment sure looks homey. I love how you’ve decorated it. I’m curious (and forget) were you assigned this apartment? Because you’ve switched so much out with the space next door. Seems like you could just have that A/C!!! (if only it were that easy, huh?)
Those windows are so lovely… I think I’d love seeing them!
take care…hope you get relief from the heat soon. Pat
Claudia says
When I was here in the Spring, I was assigned the apartment next door. After I had moved in, I realized the carpet was wet and we discovered the hot water heater was leaking and there was mildew on the wall. So they moved me to this apartment next door. I had to cart everything over here and I figured that since I had the keys to BOTH apartments, I would trade out a few things. So the ugly lamps went next door, the shelving unit came here, etc.
One of the actors is living in that apartment right now, so I can’t use his A/C, though interestingly, his A/C broke down for a few days about a month ago!
Pat says
Ah yes… I forgot about the broken water heater!
I do remember you moving that mattress though! lol…
…i’m sometimes foggy with the details lately, but I catch up fast! Pat
HeidiAnn says
I DID like the tour! It was fun to see it, and hear your voice. Very cool.
I feel really badly for you about the air conditioning. I don’t know how you can even handle that – don’t think i could deal with it!
Claudia says
It’s driving me nuts, frankly, HeidiAnn. But tomorrow is supposed to be cooler, so I’m just trying to stay positive until then.
debra@ frugallittlebungalow says
Came over to see if they got the AC on for you. UGH I guess not. Hopefully this weather will break soon as they predict….better yet get your air fixed asap!
Well I would just have to say that your dishwasher at home DOES work. Just like your sewing machine has a name, Mabel, so does the dishwasher. The name is Claudia! :)
Claudia says
Yes indeed! And I can’t complain because the cook’s name is Don!
Tana says
Great space! But not having air! Oh My! But the thing I liked best was hearing your voice. You have a beautiful voice.
Claudia says
Oh, thank you, Tana. What a nice thing to say!
Donnamae says
How nice to hear your voice! Hope your air gets fixed…it’s cooler here…maybe it’ll be coming your way! Thanks for the tour…the quilt, bark cloth, and chicken wire go together…the granite looks out of place IMHO! Enjoy your day! ;)
Claudia says
I think it is coming our way, Donna. Tomorrow is supposed to be cooler. Still no sign of the repairman.
Poppy says
Hi Claudia,
Lovely tour by a very well spoken guide who knows her ‘material’ very well! No wonder you’re a voice coach; you are one ‘smooth’ talker. I always wonder what my fellow bloggers sound like, especially the ladies I am closest too. A person’s voice speaks volumes about their personality, I think! Thanks for the tour and all your asides, they made the difference!

Jane says
This is so neat! And your place looks much nicer that I had thought, very homey and down to earth. It won’t be much longer before you are packing up!
XO,
Jane
Claudia says
About two more weeks plus a couple of days.
Susan says
Oh, that was fun – loved the tour! I have to tell you that your voice is very relaxing to listen to. I felt like we were gliding through the tour……. Thank you so much, Claudia~
Claudia says
Thank you, Susan!

Nice little apartment! I love the chicken wire in the windows. Shame to have to lose that.
Loved hearing your voice. Now when I read your blog I will hear it in your voice!

Claudia says
I know, I’ll miss that chicken wire!
Nancy Blue Moon says
That was so enjoyable Claudia..It would be nice if you did video tours for us of your cottage and your gardens..What a lovely voice you have..so perfect and pleasant..Makes me cringe thinking of my Pennsylvania accent..lol
Claudia says
Oh stop! I bet you sound great, Nancy!
debi says
Great video Claudia, and how fun to hear your voice!!
Claudia says
Thanks, Debi!
Francine says
Claudia – Loved the guided tour of your apartment and hearing your voice!! You have really put your stamp on your space and made it nice and cozy!! Hope this heat wave breaks soon and you will feel cooler.. Francine
Claudia says
Supposed to break overnight, Francine. Right now, it’s very stormy out there. I got soaked on my way to the theater.
Bonnie Schulte says
That was so much fun to see how you live away from home. But,even tho, you are away from
home, your apartment
looks so comfy and cozy, like a special warm place should look, and you have made it so.. I just wish the video was longer, and “we” could have talked longer. Very special of you to share with us. I very much enjoyed it!!
more..please!!!
Claudia says
There’s a limit on how long the video can be on Vimeo, so I had to redo it a couple of times to make it short enough, Bonnie! I’ll do more in the future.
Missy says
Okay, I’ll join the “Wow what a voice” club. :) Have you done voice over work? Is that as difficult as acting in this economy? As you were taking us on the tour I was thinking about all the voices I heard when we traveled through Disney World and places like that. Anyhow, thanks for the tour and letting us get to know you a little bit more.
Claudia says
No voice over work – I was usually too busy teaching and coaching. And it’s very competitive out there, even if I wanted to do it. Thanks for the compliment, Missy.
Pam in California says
Will climb on board, too…wonderful voice. Thanks for the tour.
Leanne says
I feel like I’ve been under a rock, finally getting around to watch this video. Claudia, I didn’t think you were in Chicago? But that red brick building out the window is a dead ringer for one in downtown Chicago that I could see from my hotel room when I stayed there last year. I wonder if some department store went around building and opening red brick stores that looked like each other… hmm. Also — lovely apartment. Do you have air yet?
