A Little Tour

September 12, 2013 at 7:30 am by Claudia

This is sort of fun. I shot a little video tour of my temporary living space yesterday.

That was really interesting, and so nice to hear your voice Claudia!
You have put your stamp on the space and have made it comfy – other than having the a/c problem which hopefully will be fixed sooner rather than later!
Like the city view through the chicken wire window – rather unusual.
    Enjoy the day dear.

How fun ! Even though you’ve shared pictures of your little working apartment away from home — and those pictures were very nice — the video is so much better, made me feel as though you invited me in for a visit. And, I now have a ‘voice’ to put to a face ! Thank you again for sharing your world.

I will have been here a total of 10 weeks when I’m finished. That’s two and a half months. You’re darn right it looks like I’ve moved in!! It’s too long a stretch not to make it a home-away-from-home.

Your background/career has always been evident in your writing: choice of words, speech pattern, that sort of thing.

No surprise to “hear” this too. You are very precise with your words, unlike so many of us who tend to add bits and bobs, so to speak, when communicating. Dare I say that you sound a bit like Martha Stewart? This is meant as a compliment as I do appreciate good speaking voices. With a good topic, you would easily keep a roomful engaged. Any public speaking in your future?

Well, I fear I’m not always so precise – ask Don! I’ve done some public speaking in the past. BlogHer should ask me to speak at their convention, don’t you think?

How wonderful to hear your voice! I liked that the most about the tour.
The apartment sure looks homey. I love how you’ve decorated it. I’m curious (and forget) were you assigned this apartment? Because you’ve switched so much out with the space next door. Seems like you could just have that A/C!!! (if only it were that easy, huh?)
Those windows are so lovely… I think I’d love seeing them!
take care…hope you get relief from the heat soon. Pat

When I was here in the Spring, I was assigned the apartment next door. After I had moved in, I realized the carpet was wet and we discovered the hot water heater was leaking and there was mildew on the wall. So they moved me to this apartment next door. I had to cart everything over here and I figured that since I had the keys to BOTH apartments, I would trade out a few things. So the ugly lamps went next door, the shelving unit came here, etc.
One of the actors is living in that apartment right now, so I can’t use his A/C, though interestingly, his A/C broke down for a few days about a month ago!

    Hi Claudia,

Lovely tour by a very well spoken guide who knows her ‘material’ very well! No wonder you’re a voice coach; you are one ‘smooth’ talker. I always wonder what my fellow bloggers sound like, especially the ladies I am closest too. A person’s voice speaks volumes about their personality, I think! Thanks for the tour and all your asides, they made the difference!

Okay, I’ll join the “Wow what a voice” club. :) Have you done voice over work? Is that as difficult as acting in this economy? As you were taking us on the tour I was thinking about all the voices I heard when we traveled through Disney World and places like that. Anyhow, thanks for the tour and letting us get to know you a little bit more.

I feel like I’ve been under a rock, finally getting around to watch this video. Claudia, I didn’t think you were in Chicago? But that red brick building out the window is a dead ringer for one in downtown Chicago that I could see from my hotel room when I stayed there last year. I wonder if some department store went around building and opening red brick stores that looked like each other… hmm. Also — lovely apartment. Do you have air yet?

Welcome!

Welcome!

I live in a little cottage in the country with my husband. It's a sweet place, sheltered by old trees and surrounded by gardens. The inside is full of the things we love. I love to write, I love my camera, I love creating, I love gardening. My decorating style is eclectic; full of vintage and a bit of whimsy.

I've worked in the theater for more years than I can count. I'm currently a voice, speech, dialect and text coach freelancing on Broadway, off Broadway, and in regional theater.

Thanks for stopping by.
