A New Year

January 1, 2018 at 10:36 am by Claudia

I posted this on Instagram yesterday – resizing it for the blog is always a bit problematic. But there you go. Our wish to you and yours on this first day of January.

It’s unbelievably cold here – I’m still ensconced in flannel pjs, Don’s hooded sweatshirt, and a throw wrapped around my legs. Goodness! And it will continue all week long.

Ice Station Zebra, here at the cottage.

We watched All the President’s Men  last night. I never get tired of it, but this time I was amazed by how many lines of dialogue (especially from Deep Throat) could be inserted in the Mueller investigation, including “Follow the money.” and “Forget the myths the media’s created about the White House. The truth is, these are not very bright guys and things got out of hand.”

Oh, and here’s another one. “They bugged offices, they followed people, planted false press leaks, passed fake letters…they investigated Democratic private lives, they planted spies, they stole documents…”

After all is said and done, Watergate will look like a cakewalk compared to this.

Have a wonderful first day of 2018.

Hey, at least it’s sunny out there!

Happy Monday.

    Happy New Year, Claudia.

It’s in the 70s here and gorgeous. We don’t have heat in this house (or AC) so when it gets cold as it’s slated to do later in the week (the 40s!) I’ll be bundled up, too.

All the best in the New Year.

Happy New Year! Your cottage looks fantastic! While the sun is out here too…it’s -7 without factoring in the wind chill. I’m bundled up about as much as you…it’s just plain frigid. I’m hoping that 2018 will bring great success to Mr Mueller and his team!! ;)

We’ve almost made it up to 0* here in Missouri. No warming to freezing temps until next weekend… sigh….
I always enjoy a peek into your cottage, so cozy.
When will the r’s ever learn?? They are not good at governing for the people and really need a new platform and some new leaders. another sigh…..

so cheery! and I love sunlight and shadow in a room.
I think the entire country is having frigid temps. places that never have it normally.
ours usually comes with ice and wind.
two days ago we had 11 degrees with a 25 mph constant wind. then that night sleet.
sun shining today but it’s only 18. that’s a heat wave to you! but at least the wind has died some.
I spent NY’s eve with Nick and Nora and Asta. then switched over to The Holiday which I also love. spending today just cozy and happy…
and thinking of Margaritaville key lime pie! yum! LOL

What a terrific shot of that part of your house! Gosh but the sun just fills that room doesn’t it? Well, on sunny days at least – LOL. That yellow was the perfect choice for that room. Everything just glows on sunny days, and the yellow must help out a lot on the cloudy ones. “All the President’s Men” is one of my favorite & most-watched DVDs [ I could probably lip-synch along with the entire movie] and I agree 100% – a great deal of the dialogue would transpose right into the current situation. In the end, to use an SAT analogy – Watergate will be to this scandal as a paper clip is to the Empire State Building. “Trump & Russia” will absolutely dwarf Watergate. Get ready Richard Nixon… you’re about to lose your spot as least-admired/most-reviled President [if you haven’t already]. Here’s to a very Happy, Healthy Prosperous & Successful New Year to you & Don – and to the country. Peace. 🎉

And the sun is reflecting off the white snow so it’s even more powerful!

Yep. Watergate will seem simplistic and a little thing compared to what will eventually come out about Trump, his cohorts, the GOP and Russia.

This cold is just brutal. It seems like a large majority of people are enveloped in it as are we. But, here too, the sun is shining!

Happy New Year to you and Don. Continue to pray/ send positive thoughts for and to Mr. Mueller and his staff. May Peace and Joy become the norm for all of us in 2018. ♡

thank you … happy, healthy new year to you and don, too!

love that photo of your living room and kitchen .. it shows how perfect that blue/green table works as an island and that stella is truly home. love everything about that photo. :)

hope you stay warm! it has been super-cold here today, too .. 19 degrees below 0°, not counting windchill. ugh! it costs more than i’d like to pay and is nothing like a sauna, but the garage i rent is heated and on days like this i am extra-grateful for it!

might have to rent that movie. meant to say before that i like the hashtag used above and in comments on other posts: #protectmueller (thanks, janet in rochester). hope he is protected.

time for a chore or two.

    best wishes to all!

I like that hashtag as well, so I’ll close with it. #protectmueller

We are binge watching “The West Wing”. I swear, if I worked in that White House, I would get eaten alive. They are so quick witted.

I love The West Wing, but no one talks that way! It’s an Aaron Sorkin trademark, which I think he had a better handle on with his later show, The Newsroom with Jeff Daniels.

Welcome!

Welcome!

I live in a little cottage in the country with my husband. It's a sweet place, sheltered by old trees and surrounded by gardens. The inside is full of the things we love. I love to write, I love my camera, I love creating, I love gardening. My decorating style is eclectic; full of vintage and a bit of whimsy.

I've worked in the theater for more years than I can count. I'm currently a voice, speech, dialect and text coach freelancing on Broadway, off Broadway, and in regional theater.

Thanks for stopping by.
