A Perfect Day

August 14, 2024 at 8:27 am by Claudia

Yesterday was a gorgeous day. Simply spectacular. And no humidity! I sat on the porch for a while in the morning, and then Don joined me. It was a day of great conversations, spontaneous projects on the property, good food, apple pie, and the arrival of Wren.

Here she is:

This dress was made by my friend Morgane, who lives in France. The detail of that tiny ruffled collar is amazing. She also made the headband. I learned about Morgane when I first became interested in these BJDs by Eat Zongzi (the woman who designed both Wren and Lucy.) Morgane had the most amazing photos of them playing, having adventures – an entire little world.  And then I found out this former professional dress designer designed their clothes. I might be wrong, but I think all of Wren’s clothes are Morgane’s creations.

Anyway, back to little Wren. It was so good to see her again! I plopped her wig on her head and dressed her in this ‘homecoming’ dress and then she was reunited with her sister.

Sisters.

Gosh darn it, they’re awfully cute.

I’ve spoken of this before. Wren is my mini-me. When I was a little kid, I had long brown hair with bangs, big brown eyes, and was always worrying. I remember being unable to sleep because I was worried about something or other, far more worried than a child should be. I now have a vertical worry line between my brows because of it.

She’s me.

These two couldn’t be cuter.

My friend Tania was so generous. She enclosed a dress that she had a well known Blythe designer make for Wren, as well as a little hat. I suspect she’ll miss her. I’m grateful she was willing to let me buy her back.

Today I have to send off a purchase from my Etsy shop and return/pick up a book at the library. Weed pulling is on the docket, as well.

Stay safe.

Happy Wednesday.

I am so glad Wren made her way back to you. So sweet. We are still having days that are too hot to spend anytime outside but fall will come soon I hope!

the title of this post immediately brought a smile and much happiness for you.

sorry, though, that you had lots of worries as a child (sending hugs to little you). hopefully life always feels and is easier, better now.

happy that wren is back home. those little faces and that hug show a lot of emotion, don’t they? very sweet.

and the porch. your porch! what a beautiful place to spend time.

cool, rainy (misty) morning here and i love it. i am much more productive in cool/cold weather and just feel floppy and have no energy when it’s hot or humid. i am ready for fall and winter. good thing it’s coming because i have lots i want and need to do.

happy, safe wednesday and every day to you all.

Love your porch picture. Your porch looks so inviting. And so happy little Wren is back home where she belongs. Lovely picture of the sisters together again. Wren’s dress is adorable – a real work of art. Hugs, Elaine

I am so happy you finally had a day to enjoy your porch…and your yard. It seems like it’s been a long time coming.

And…then there’s Wren. Glad you were able to get her back. I always marvel at the seamstresses who design these clothes…the details are remarkable.

    Enjoy your day! ;)

Welcome home, Wren! I’m so amazed at those very petite clothes, what it takes to make them! Loved the picture of your porch…looks so calming, and even better with apple pie! Hope more gorgeous days are coming soon!

Wren and her sister definitely are cuties. I know what you mean about having to force yourself to weed about this time in summer. The unrelenting humidity does it for me and I come in the house needing a shower every time. So, yeah, I let it slide more than I should now.

It’s been so dry the grass stopped growing so not a lot of mowing going on here. Good thing because we gave our mower to Nick. He needed to do the neglected front and back yards at his new place. Dean has been eyeing an electric mower for quite a while but I’m hoping it can wait until the September sales. Hard to believe we’re already talking about September.

I’m a bit perturbed that I haven’t found anything to hold my interest to read lately. Started several books but just couldn’t stay with them. I think the unrest in the world, specifically the presidential campaign, affected my ability to concentrate. Also, it’s been a busy summer what with helping Nick with new house DIYs. Now we’re dog sitting all this week while he’s down in Chicago for his company’s annual get-together. One thing though: Charlie has cured me of wanting a dog. I thought once our 19 yr old kitty goes, we might consider one. But I cannot get used to not being able to move in the kitchen without constantly looking out for where he is so I don’t fall over him. Since I’m not used to it, it drives me nuts. Guess I’ll stick with being a cat lady.

    Take care,
    Kay

I completely understand your need for control. Being an adult child of an alcoholic myself, you could have been describing me. The need for feeling safe is hard to describe and there is no let up in the worrying. Sometimes it almost feels crippling. Thank goodness that my two sisters aren’t burdened by it.

I am so glad that you have Wren home and you were given the chance to buy here back. Those two dolls are my absolute favorites. I would love to sit on the funky patio among the flowers and have a cup of coffee.

Welcome!

Welcome!

I live in a little cottage in the country with my husband. It's a sweet place, sheltered by old trees and surrounded by gardens. The inside is full of the things we love. I love to write, I love my camera, I love creating, I love gardening. My decorating style is eclectic; full of vintage and a bit of whimsy.

I've worked in the theater for more years than I can count. I'm currently a voice, speech, dialect and text coach freelancing on Broadway, off Broadway, and in regional theater.

Thanks for stopping by.
