A Post from Imogen

November 9, 2022 at 9:23 am by Claudia

Hi everybody, Imogen here!

Mom asked if I could write today’s post because she was up late and then it took her a long time to get to sleep, so she’s, as she would say, a big “ragged” this morning.

Mom and Dad decided to not follow the election results via the television. Too much hype and loud music and flow charts and white boards. They’re really tired of that. So, they watched old episodes of What’s My Line  and Mom kept checking Twitter.

She says we still don’t have all the results in. “Some bad things happened, but a lot of good things happened” is how she explained it to me. Mom and Dad have signs on the front lawn and everyone on the signs won.

Currently, she’s still  checking Twitter.

She and Dad are tired today so they are going to take it easy. Mom wishes dad had made an apple pie yesterday. She said she could sure use a piece.

She also finished this puzzle:

She told me that this is a place called Broadway and both she and Dad have worked there.

It’s news to me and I have no idea where that is, but okay.

It’s very cold here this morning and Mom is wondering if her porch plants survived. She’s going to go out there later this morning to check on them.

Thanks for letting me talk to you.

I’m going to go and hang out with my sisters.

Stay safe.

Happy Wednesday.

Michigan made it through! All proposals passes, Whitmer/Benson/Nessel re-elected. WHEW! Yes, some good and bad and not a huge lot of point watching on election night because so much comes in late. And you, Imogen, are looking cute! And that puzzle looks uber-difficult!

I’m hoping that we still edge out a win in the House. We need our social security to survive. Plus, the GOP would do stupid things like try to impeach Biden.

      So glad for Michigan!

      Stay safe, Jeanie.

Still counting votes so we shall see. So far lots of good news, altho, not all great, of course! Still – better than it could have been…
My youngest son may be teaching at CUNY next year so they are thinking of moving to Great Neck, NY. Too far from Illinois but a nice opportunity for him. Do you know much about that area? He said wonderful schools for his boys are there…

    cute post. thanks, imogen! :)

even though i had to be up and out extra-early today, i did stay up late to watch the election results. not pleased with some of iowa’s results, including the re-election of our very-trump-following governor and passage of an amendment to our state constitution that will make gun reform even tougher. also, charles grassley was again re-elected. he served 16 years here in iowa and the past 47 in washington (first the house, moreso in the senate). enough! actually too much (i believe in term limits for government officials). also, on a human level, i want him to enjoy the rest of his life … the man is 89.

    sigh.

hopefully all results will be counted soon so we know and can hopefully move forward together as a country.

overcast day here, but no rain in the forecast. will take it.

hope you all have a nice, easy day and stay safe.

Grassley is too old to serve. Term limits – yes.

      Stay safe, Kathy.

to clarify … the amendment being added to our state’s constitution will make it even harder to get gun reforms passed, even easier to get guns here.

I’m not sure what everyone else thinks but I’m feeling like the Democrats will stay in control of both the House and Senate. Maybe I’m wrong but I didn’t see a big red wave like some predicted. Nebraska is never a state that has hotly contested races, so we never make the news. lol

Election day is so surreal. We are blessed to have the opportunity to have our voices heard. Regardless of the results, I’m so thankful to have the opportunity to live in such a great nation.

Holding onto to the hope that Democrats retain control of the House.
Thankful I reside in a Blue city in a Blue county, which unfortunately are in a currently red state.

What I continue to find depressing, disheartening, and incomprehensible is low voter turnout.
Yes, I’m well aware that midterm elections are generally low voter turnout elections, but this YEAR? And in the case of my state & county, with the availability of early voting and extended hours during early voting, why would only 50% of registered voters statewide and 55% of registered voters in the county actually vote in the midterm elections?
I simply do not understand and am heartbroken by the lack of respect so many have for those who fought & died to ensure Americans have the privilege of voting in fair & free elections.

Sunny and crisp here today and with a major leaf fall over the last few days, a perfect day for me to be outside, raking and blowing leaves. We’re supposed to have rain/thunderstorms Friday, so today & tomorrow will be spent outside.

    Stay safe & well.

I don’t think our turnout was low, thankfully. I don’t understand anyone not voting.

Nice to hear from you Imogen.
I didn’t watch much election coverage either. I agree there is just too much hoopla on tv, too much “analysis.”
We have had beautiful sunny days…like Mother Nature was giving us time to get all the fall lawn clean-up done. Today is colder, cloudy and we might get some snow in a few days, ugh!
That puzzle looks quite challenging. I’ve never been to Broadway either Imogen. Maybe someday.
    Take care

Well, your parents are quite smart! Good idea to take a break from the election hoopla! And since some of it hasn’t even been finalized there’s not much to do but wait anyway! What’s My Line is a great nostalgic diversion! Hope all your family has a restful and warm Wednesday!

Lovely post, Imogen. You have a way with words. And you look so cute! We, in Canada, are hopeful of a Democratic majority., too. Voting is so important. We have the same problem here – low turnout. Well, I’ve got brownies baking in the oven on this beautiful fall day. Make that pie, Don. Hugs, Elaine

I was up VERY late too! Because, of course, Arizona will be counting ballets forever! We are still waiting on Governor and we already know that Kari Lake will be trouble with the results if she does not win….total election denier! I am holding on to hope that blue wins out. Waiting right now for Biden to speak.
I think he should be very happy! Now we all need to rest. Take care!

Well, we are thrilled that we retained our Dem Governor!!!!!!! So very hard for me to understand how he could win and Barnes could lose to Johnson!?!? I am sad to say I think the answer is Racism. The Repubs had some just horrible Racist adds against Barnes to frighten people regarding police defunding, etc. I am so glad we don’t have to watch that crap any longer.

Does AZ use an abacus to count votes?? What in the world puts their tally system back in the 20th century? Still so many mountains ahead of us, not to mention the GA run-off in just a few weeks, but we must move forward. It really could have been much worse. Take care.

      So happy about that.

I’m sure you’re right about Mandela Barnes’ loss. Racism. It’s heartbreaking.

Some very well respected Dem Reps lost in here in the Hudson Valley. Not ours, but others. I cannot understand it!

      Stay safe, Chris.

Welcome!

Welcome!

I live in a little cottage in the country with my husband. It's a sweet place, sheltered by old trees and surrounded by gardens. The inside is full of the things we love. I love to write, I love my camera, I love creating, I love gardening. My decorating style is eclectic; full of vintage and a bit of whimsy.

I've worked in the theater for more years than I can count. I'm currently a voice, speech, dialect and text coach freelancing on Broadway, off Broadway, and in regional theater.

Thanks for stopping by.
