A Story

February 21, 2017 at 9:05 am by Claudia

Still feeling crappy. A cold? A sinus thing? I’m not sure, but I’m coughing a lot and sleep was elusive last night. I must feel better by tomorrow as I have to go into the city for rehearsal. So I’m ordering this ‘thing’ to leave my body by tonight.

I’m going to share a little story with you. Some of you may have seen it on Facebook yesterday.

Don went to a local protest yesterday in the neighboring college town. (Obviously, I couldn’t go.) The idea behind the protest – on President’s Day – was to erect a ‘wall’ made of boxes. Everyone brought a box, and soon after the protest commenced, the wall was built. At the end of the protest, several children were going to knock down the wall.

As the band played, out of nowhere a bald eagle appeared.

As more and more people in the crowd noticed the eagle, the cheers grew louder.

That beautiful eagle – a symbol of our democracy – circled three times and then moved on.

Then they knocked the wall down.

I’ve seen bald eagles before, but not in this neck of the woods – though I’m sure they’re out there.

You can’t tell me that wasn’t a message. Don told me everyone remarked on how spiritual the experience was.

The bald eagle has spoken. Time to take back our country.

Happy Tuesday.

Wow, that’s chillingly, amazingly wonderful!! HAD to be a message. Not a guardian angel, but a guardian eagle. I bet it was actually one of the Founding Fathers, borrowing a physical presence from the eagle for a few minutes to send encouragement and confirm that we’re on the right track. Peace. #Resist

Definitely a sign. I love birds! They make me sad for those I’ve lost, but in awe of the beauty of those that remain and those that I happen upon, unexpectedly. They do seem to me to have other-worldly souls and to know things we don’t. Thanks for the pretty photo…I assume it was Don’s?

Yes. He was desperately trying to get a picture of the eagle and he managed to – with his iPhone.

I heard one of my mourning doves this morning. I took comfort in that as well.

Oh, I didn’t realize that was the actual eagle; I thought it was a photo you’d taken from some other time. Makes it all the more special. I’ve got tears in my eyes.

I meant to also say I’m sorry you’re not feeling well, Claudia. I hope you feel stronger for your busy days ahead. No fun to feel crappy.

We live about 3 miles from a dam on the Wisconsin River. With the open water, we see many eagles, and they are NEVER taken for granted. Seriously majestic…. every time we see them ~ . and they truly seem to know this!! That one Don and his fellow Resistors saw, was magical and truly a message being sent. If only that message will continue to be heard.

Oh, I hope you feel better as the day goes along. This beautiful sunshine and temps in the 60’s is helping here, for sure!! Although with 60’s in February, I do worry what the rest of the spring will be. We have slight buds on the lilac bushes in the yard and we all know that this won’t last and we will be seeing more snow and much lower temps for many weeks ahead. BUT, that being said ~~ some days are diamonds, and we should surely enjoy and celebrate them when they surprise us!!

Wow, this piece from you today gave me chills.

I was super-busy yesterday but I caught a squib on TV where McCain actually used the word dictatorship…something about how subduing the press is how a dictatorship starts. Apparently McCain’s comments were a response to DT again blasting our free press; some stupid tweet again, that news outlets are an enemy of the people. DT is treading on dangerous ground. Does he even know what the word ‘truth’ means? I think Congress is waking up; DT is a control freak and he cannot control the press. I have to hope and pray, as I’ve thought and said before, that there are intelligent, moral and experienced people in government who are going to stop this trainwreck before it gets much worse.

Again, chilling. To think we got to this point.

He’s been very quiet on Twitter today. And he made a statement (too late) about anti-semitism. Of course having a white nationalist, anti-semitic man in the White House (Steve Bannon) doesn’t help his case.

Welcome!

Welcome!

I live in a little cottage in the country with my husband. It's a sweet place, sheltered by old trees and surrounded by gardens. The inside is full of the things we love. I love to write, I love my camera, I love creating, I love gardening. My decorating style is eclectic; full of vintage and a bit of whimsy.

I've worked in the theater for more years than I can count. I'm currently a voice, speech, dialect and text coach freelancing on Broadway, off Broadway, and in regional theater.

Thanks for stopping by.
