Was it a full moon yesterday? Was it the incessant rain? I don’t know, but it was a strange day. We were trapped in the house all day with sheets of rain coming down. I worked on two more acts of Much Ado (only one more to go) and then there was the weird spam thing that happened to one of my readers. Thanks to those of you who responded to my previous post, which asked if any of you had received a Comment Reply email from this blog with some offensive spam on it. I trust you know that I would never send that kind of thing. When the reader wrote me about it, I went into panic mode and tried to figure out what the problem was. I’m pretty sure now that the site is secure and I’ve also added another level of security.
Why is my initial response to this kind of thing always “I’ll just stop blogging?” That only lasts a minute or two and then I move on.
I deleted the plugin that allows me to notify you if I respond to your comments. This will be problematic, as I respond to most comments on a daily basis and now that box you used to check that enables an email to be sent to you if I reply won’t be there. I’ll look for a better plugin but, in the meantime, you’ll just have to check back to see the replies. So sorry.
I like responding to comments, darn it! I like the conversation we have. So if you have time in your busy days to check back, I would love that. I tend to think, since no one else has written me complaining of a spammy reply being sent to them, that this might have been limited to that one response….hopefully. Meanwhile, I’ll keep investigating.
Ah, the internet. Wonderful and, at the same time, a pain in the tush. I’d use another word and do on a daily basis, but I try to maintain a certain level of decorum here. Ahem.
Right now, the entire property looks water logged, as if it was dunked under water for several days. And, it sort of was. I have no idea what’s blooming or attempting to bloom or bent over from the force of the rain. I’ll have to make a little tour of the grounds and investigate. Better put on my muck boots.
We watched an Austin Powers movie last night (we also watched it last week) and laughed ourselves silly. Yay for laughter. I needed it. Don, who is so patient when I go into blog worry mode, needed it. Laughter is the best medicine, for sure. It pulls me out of my head and into the present. Thank goodness.
I’ll leave you with a glimpse of Scout’s white eyelashes. And the freckles on her nose.
Pretty, pretty girl.
Happy Friday.

Claudia, Sometimes I have checked back before I even get the E-Mail. So no worries here! I always enjoy our conversations, I feel like I have a good friend in New York, that has basically the same philosophy’s I do.
Please, Please, Please, don’t give up your blog. We All LOVE YOU! I also am a solitary person. it might surprise people how much, and the kind’s of things I do alone. Your “Friend” in Salt Lake City -Judy A-
Claudia says
I won’t give it up – at least not yet – but sometimes this stuff really brings me down! xo
Judy Ainsworth says
p.s. I also use the other word on a regular basis, sometimes just nothing else will do! -Judy A-
Claudia says
Love that word!

Good morning, Claudia!! So sorry about what happened to your blog… I had no problems here with any spam… Please don’t give up blogging… I love checking in with you and conversing… I have to say I am sick of all this rain, too…. it tends to bring my spirits down. A good chuckle is a great idea and sometimes a few of “those” words help the situation, too. Hope the day goes good for you… Francine
Claudia says
Me too. At least the sun is out at the moment, Francine! I hope it is in your neck of the woods, too.
Susan says
No problems with spam, here……
Claudia says
Good!
Lisa Lynn says
Awww, cute little Scout :) No problems with spam…Don’t Panic!
Claudia says
Thanks, Lisa Lynn!

Aha, I have been know to use that word, too. But, my go to word begins with an s. It works as many parts of speech.
Hope your solution works. Take s deep breath. Scout loves you.
Claudia says
I use that word a lot, too, Beverly.

No Spam here! That Scout and her white eyelashes are amazing. Do you know the song the kids sing “Rain, rain, go away”? You might try that or a traditional Indian Rain Dance – oh no, wait, that’s to bring on more rain. Don’t want to do that. LOL
Have a good weekend.
Judy
Claudia says
You too, Judy. I’m well and truly tired of dealing with the blog. I know Brenda is REALLY tired of her blog problems!
Judy Ainsworth says
Yes ,but look at the Joy “WE” bring LOL!
Claudia says
You’re making me laugh, Judy. That’s just what I need right now! Thank you.

Hi Claudia. Just wanted to thank you for your book recommendation the other day. Debbie Crombie. I just read the very first book in the series of Kincaid and James. It was a good, cozy read and now I am hooked!
Claudia says
Isn’t she great? I’m so glad you’re hooked. I’m on the last two books in the series and then I’ll be caught up. But I want to take them slowly because I love reading the books so much!
Patty says
Oh, Claudia, your photos are stunningly beautiful! I am glad you will keep on blogging because I really enjoy what you have to say. It’s a shame some people on the internet try to ruin a good thing.
Claudia says
No kidding. Those people make me crazy! Thanks, Patty!

I would send you some of the 80’s and 90’s we have been having here in Tn. No rain for me this week, hopefully next. Don’t worry about the spam. Occasionally friends get something I have not sent attributed to my e-mail. It happens to us all. I did not get anything from your e-mail and would never believe it came from you if I did. Keep on blogging. I use the other word also and my grands sometimes catch me! Naughty Grandmommie! I have told them it is just an animal. Naughty grandmommie! I live alone and your cyber friendship means a great deal to me. Don’t allow the despicables to keep you from doing something you enjoy and at which you are so very good.
Claudia says
I won’t. Thank you, Regena.
Meredith says
Glad you got the blog thing all figured out, you are amazing my sister. Scoutie, Aunt Mere wants to give you a big kiss right between your eyes.

Please don’t give up your blogging…I would truly miss your level headedness! Is that even a word? And the weather…it has gone amuck!! Love Scout’s eyelashes…so pretty! Hope everything dries out for you! ;)
Claudia says
It’s pretty soggy, but the sun came out and everything was drying out and then we got a thunderstorm!
Donnamae says
Of course…you just come to expect it! ;)

I didn’t receive anything bad either Claudia..I did receive an email from my nephew in Washington state last week..opened it thinking nothing of it and it was a virus..luckily my Avast caught it and everything was OK except it kept sending it over & over every time I deleted it..Found out my niece was receiving it too so she called and told him what was happening..I will miss getting your reply in my mailbox but I will check back before bed as I look forward to hearing from you when you have time to answer..You already know that I think Miss Scout is a beauty..White eyelashes! How pretty!
Claudia says

Thank you for being so considerate to your readers. I recently got a nasty virus and had to take my computer back to the box. It took THREE DAYS for two years of updates to re-load. Talk about a pain in the posterior (more colorful words were used throughout the process). I love hearing back on comments on my favorite blogs, but I will think twice about clicking that box.

Hi dear – I’m so out of the loop regarding commenting but will try to catch up now that I’m almost over my huge case of jet-lag. Did you know Russia alone has 9 time zones which I flew across, then add flying across Europe, plus the Atlantic…..no wonder my inner clock has given up! I actually circled the planet on this trip. I wake up all night long thinking it’s time to get up, then yawn all day along!
Anyway, sorry you’ve had blogging nasties….I seem to get so much spam lately, but of course always moderate comments so they don’t get published. Also rain, it’s everywhere by the sound of it……I’ve kept my Wellies handy and actually wore them to Costco this week……I’ve never worn boots in June before!
Ms. Scout looks pretty – is she using a new shampoo and conditioner by chance?
I’m planning to return to My Favorite Thing tomorrow – missed being able to join in whilst in the remote regions of the planet!.
Love and hugs – Mary

After realizing that so many of my commenters were no-reply commenters, I decided to try answering them on the blog too. (And here all this time I’ve been writing replies to the email and they were going nowhere! It appears that when I do reply on the blog, it does not get sent to their email address so I’ve been doing both, replying on the blog and sending email if it was possible. Claudia, I do like this format as it seems like dialogues happen.
Such a sweet picture of Scout. Wish you could have reversed that rain and sent it on its way to Colorado.

Yes the incessant rain has been a problem here with flooding and not being able to get out and then it was cool as well…certainly not June temps…sorry to hear about your comment issue. I use the ReplyMe plugin for WordPress…it sends an email to anyone I reply to…
