Don is doing very well. The bandages were removed and the incision healed nicely. His thumb is straight again! His hand is sore because he’s now using it without the support of a bandage. But all is well. And the best news? Playing guitar is perfect therapy.
Good news/bad news: let’s start with the bad. I spilled water all over my laptop and it isn’t working. I’m following all the instructions as to letting it dry out for 48 hours so we’ll see what happens, The cost of a new laptop is daunting and I must admit, it’s sent me into a bit of a panic. I’m writing this on my iPad, which slows up the whole process, but so far, so good. Because it happened right before we went to bed, I didn’t get much sleep. As I didn’t get much sleep the night before, I’m now running on empty.
The good news: this girl arrived yesterday.
I will take better photos today. This is Nina, made by Dragonfly Blythe who lives in Israel. She is exquisite, more lovely than I already thought she was. Her face! Blue veins on her forehead, teeth, gorgeous eyes and mouth. And her hair is soft, made of wool. When taken out of the braids, it’s quite voluminous.
There’s a story behind her. I saw her over two months ago and fell in love with her. I had a conversation with Ola and expressed my interest. She was very reasonably priced. I eventually backed out because Ella was on her way to me. But I couldn’t get her out of my head, so a month later I contacted Ola again. She was still available.
I told Ola I had to wait for my check and she kindly and patiently put her on hold.
Can you see the veins on her eyelids? I love her. Never say never, but I do think she will complete the family.
What a strange 24 hours!
Stay safe.
Happy Tuesday.

i’m happy for don to be making such good progress. and good music, too! am sure you’re both beyond happy!
hope the laptop has the same good outcome!
and welcome to nina. she’s made her way to a good home!
busy morning here. window air conditioner being installed by landlord and my brother and i are building the shelves for that cupboard. hopefully not at the same time. :)
will be good.

Good luck with the shelves, Kathy!
Stay safe.
Shanna says
She has a very different look than the others. Do they all have eyes that close? Love the shoes and tights!
Claudia says
Yes, they all have eyes that close. You have to close the eyes until the click if you want sleep eyes. Then you pull on the other string and another color/ set of eyes appears. Etc.
I like my girls to have different looks and personalities. One of things I’ve always liked about Dragonfly Blythe is the different palate she uses.
Stay safe, Shanna.

I meant to comment also that it’s a very good thing for Don (and for you) that guitar strumming is a good therapy!

Happy to hear that Don’s hand is doing well…and that playing guitar is great therapy. Couldn’t ask for better news.
Kind of surprised, but then again not, that you added another girl. Welcome Nina…love her hair! I’ve learned never say never to a collector.
Enjoy your day! ;)
Claudia says
Not sure why you’re surprised – I did say I’d be able to add a few dolls with new shelves. But I do think this will be it. The shelves are nicely full, but not crowded.
Stay safe, Donnamae!

Great news that Don’s hand is better….and that guitar playing is good therapy! Music to your ears all around!
The detail with Nina is amazing…yes, I could see the veins in her eyelids…and those lashes, beautiful!
Sorry to hear about your laptop… hopefully it will still work!
Claudia says
She’s gorgeous. Fingers and toes crossed re the laptop.
Stay safe, Barrie.
Vicki says
Well, my husband dropped his phone into the toilet (no need to explain how this happened) and we spent $400 at a repair place where they tried to resurrect it over days to no avail, so he’s on an old backup phone we had and there’s no telling when we can ever afford to buy another phone right now, so it’s disheartening because we’ve come to rely on it for a lot of things and we only have the one phone between us. I can’t believe what these smart/internet phones cost, and you see kids walking around with deluxe ones, so where are they getting the money for them, or are their parents buying them for them just to keep them occupied or what? The costs are astronomical, so I can relate to your concern; sorry it happened; accidents, part of life. But costly!
Glad Don is well. Hope your day get better as the day grows longer.
Nina definitely has different hair than any of your other dolls. Looks like interesting texture.
Claudia says
Very soft hair. It’s lovely. Madeleine has curly hair too. Some of the girls have synthetic hair. Ella, Nina, Lucy, and Madeleine have real hair.
Stay safe, Vicki.
kathy in iowa says
sorry you are having that stress, vicki. would a “burner”/pay-as-you-go phone help in the meantime?
while cellphones can do a lot of important and cool things, they are soooo expensive. because technology has advanced so much and for a phone being a necessity, shouldn’t the price be lower?!? i think yes. yes, it should.
ugh.
good luck with the phone situation. hope everything else is good and easy for you both.

thanx, kathy!
Elaine in Toronto says
Oh, Claudia, I can see why you fell in love with Nina. She’s a beautiful little thing. I’m sure her sisters welcomed her with open arms. Hope we get to see her often. I’m so glad Don’s thumb is healing nicely and guitar playing is good therapy. Sorry to hear about your mishap with your computer. Always something to test our fortitude. You’ll rise above it, I know. Hugs, Elaine
Claudia says
But will my bank account rise above it? Seriously- Don has convinced me that there’s nothing I can do but turn it over and wait. But it was incredibly upsetting.
So glad I have an iPad!
Stay safe, Elaine.
jeanie says
I will never believe never on the girls — I may have heard that before!
I’m so glad Don is doing well. That’s the best news of the day!
Claudia says
Thank you, Jeanie!
Stay safe.
Denise says
I once put my husband’s non-waterproof hearing aids through the washing machine…and after a spell in the dry-aid pouch, they were fine. Fingers crossed for your laptop!
Claudia says
Thank you, Denise!
Stay safe.
Kay in SE WI says
Ouch on the laptop. This kind of bad luck comes out of left field so fast. I once tripped and dropped mine. It never recovered and I lost all the contact information regarding my dad’s funeral. Hopefully, a little water won’t hurt yours. I also washed my iPhone once but fortunately it was after they were made waterproof. So glad Don is able to play his guitar again.
K.
Claudia says
It happens so quickly! I wanted to kick myself afterwards.
Stay safe, Kay!
