A Very Cold Morning

October 30, 2022 at 9:21 am by Claudia

I was feeling under the weather all day yesterday. I felt exactly like I do when I’m coming down with a cold. Thankfully, it isn’t a cold. I don’t know how I’d catch a cold when I’m always masked, but anyway, it was just a bad sinus day and I’m feeling a bit better this morning.

Don made a pie. And it’s good.

My new puzzle was supposed to arrive yesterday but it never appeared. I usually choose a puzzle based on when I can receive it. I have Amazon Prime, so I chose one that could be delivered in a day. Sure enough…no puzzle. This has been happening every once in a while with Amazon and I must admit it ticks me off.

It went down to 25 degrees last night! But it will be in the 60s during the day. This is the erratic weather of autumn in the northeast. I dragged all the plants inside again. The lows for the rest of the week will be in the 40s and 50s. In the meantime, I hope the burning bush doesn’t drop its leaves quite this early, but it very well might given last night’s freeze.

Harper in a new dress from Qiulizio, a wonderful designer in China. I have a few of her creations, which are modestly priced, but because the shipping is so expensive, I can’t order very often. I’ve had my eye on this dress for several months. It’s perfect on Harper.

I have another outfit that arrived in the same package. I’ll figure out who should model it later this morning and then I’ll take some photos.

After I drag the plants back outside.

Oh, and the catalpa has lost all of its leaves. Nothing for another six months, which is too depressing for me to ponder.

Is anyone else not getting replies to comments even if you check the box? Jeanie mentioned she wasn’t getting them.

Stay safe.

Happy Sunday.

hope you are feeling better now!

and that the next puzzle will arrive for you tomorrow. in the meantime, a book and the girls. and apple pie and biscuits!

similar weather here. and the beautiful october maple in front of my parents’ home has (in the last two days) dropped most of its leaves. :(

was awake until 4:00 this morning so a nap may happen today. for now, have to get going for church (online) with members of my family, then lunch, a walk and a ride so far in the country that houses have five-digit numbers and roads are two lanes and often gravel. :)

    happy, safe sunday to everyone.

Oh ugh. Don’t you just hate the not feeling well. I can so relate!

Very annoying about the puzzle/shipping and all. I hate that. But I can’t wait to see what the new one is. I was googling puzzles for a Christmas gift yesterday and I think I may end up getting one I found myself!

It’s going to be another nice day here and I’ll do something outdoors. My stamina is very low and I’m hoping next week’s procedure will give me a little more energy and more breath. But if I can finish up the last of the yard while the weather’s good (supposed to stay 60s all week) I’ll be glad.

Oh, I keep forgetting to mention — and it’s not a big deal because I can always go back to the post — but I’m no longer getting the comment replies to email when I check the box on the post. Not sure what’s going on there but I thought I’d mention it in case it’s an easy fix.

Hmmm. I’m not sure why that is happening. I’ll test it myself. Are you saying you’re not getting my replies?

Thanks so much, Jeanie. Good luck on your procedure tomorrow.

      Stay safe.

Jeanie, one other thought. I’ve long had a problem with your email address. Whenever I responded to a comment of yours I would get a warning from your email provider. For a while, I thought maybe you weren’t getting my replies, but then I could see that you responded. Whether that was because you checked back or got the reply in your email, I don’t know. I don’t know why your email host seems to be putting up some sort of block, but you might want to check into that. That might be the problem. Lately I haven’t even been receiving the warning, so maybe they’ve blocked my IP address?

Hmmm. My email is jeanie@wkar.org. Sometimes that will truncate to croope@msu.edu — both work. My email provider is outlook (as run through the U.) I got your replies through email until last week or maybe the week before, I think. They never landed in spam. But I checked the spam folder and nothing is there (I check it daily). Can you try sending a direct email to me at either of these addresses, not from a blog reply comment thing. We’ll see if it’s a glitch via the blog or my email. I’ve never blocked anyone on blogger so the thing about your not being able to comment is odd. Can you comment on other blogger-served blogs? I can always check back at the post but I really like getting the direct replies!

I’ve sent you a copy of the email I receive every time I reply to your comments. I don’t know if that will help, but I get it every time.

But remember when I send a direct email to you, I’m sending it from my personal IP address, not the one associated with the blog – which some email providers perceive as spam.

I tested the comment replies by going on my blog via another browser. I didn’t sign it. I left a comment (checking the box) and then I replied to the comment. I immediately received an email with the reply – so it’s working. I suspect they’re being blocked by email providers because this is happening to others as well. But, equally, many readers are still receiving a reply.

I cannot comment on any blogger blogs (including my sister’s) and I know several others who also cannot comment. I’ve given up on that.

Hope you’re feeling better,Claudia. So many changes in our gardens this time of year. It is frustrating when packages don’t come when expected. Amazon is usually pretty good although On occassion I’ve received an email saying a package has been delivered and it arrives the next day.

Love Harper’s new dress. I like that it is a longer, more roomy fit. She has cute shoes, too. Sometimes the shipping can be more than the cost of the item.

Stay cozy, you two and all the girls.
    Hugs, Elaine

Yes I did not get a response when I checked the box. I am glad you posted this as I did not think about it.

Some people are getting them and others aren’t. Check your spam, Marion. Often my responses are considered spam because they all come from the same IP address.

      Stay safe.

I also think I am not getting your replies. Seems like I would have heard from you on certain posts, but I have not. Like my birthday🥰 on the 24th. Can’t believe it got that cold last night! Do you have a fireplace in your cottage?
It is another beautiful day in Phoenix. Sitting outside on the patio watching football, just a usual Sunday. Hope you feel better.

No, I believe I didn’t wish you a happy birthday until the next day. That was when I was when I was so exhausted from going into the city. But you have to check the box saying you want to know about the reply, when you’re writing your comment. Also, check your spam.

No, we don’t have a fireplace.

      Stay safe, Deb.

Just checked. I didn’t respond until the 25th. But I just ran a test and I got a response to my comment. So it’s working. Again – check your spam.

That is a really cute dress. LOVE the collar!! And her shoes.

I haven’t been getting replies from you for about 2 weeks, I think. I did check spam when it first happened and there was nothing there. I will check again. We have 60’s forecast for this week also. Yay!! Take care.

The reply program is working, so I can’t explain why you’re not getting them. See today’s post for a list of possible reasons.

      Stay safe, Chris.

Welcome!

Welcome!

I live in a little cottage in the country with my husband. It's a sweet place, sheltered by old trees and surrounded by gardens. The inside is full of the things we love. I love to write, I love my camera, I love creating, I love gardening. My decorating style is eclectic; full of vintage and a bit of whimsy.

I've worked in the theater for more years than I can count. I'm currently a voice, speech, dialect and text coach freelancing on Broadway, off Broadway, and in regional theater.

Thanks for stopping by.
