A Visitor and More Easter Egg Cuppery

March 27, 2018 at 9:42 am by Claudia

A guy I know who is temporarily living in NYC came home for 24 hours. Just what the doctor ordered! He’s here now, but I’ll soon be taking him to the bus station for the trip back to the city. We’ve had a lovely time.

But then, he’s a lovely guy.

By the way, if you want to see a ‘feel-good’ movie, watch Wonder, starring Julia Roberts, Owen Wilson, and Jacob Tremblay. Cried my eyes out in the best possible way.

Today, we look at the egg cups that are on the mantel that is right above my desk. These are all figurals and they make me smile every single day.

The bunny on the left is named Scout – she reminds me of Scoutie: the facial expression. the eyes and the big pink ears. Bunnies frolicking, chicks on a seesaw, and a dog – so much lovely detail.

Love the little girl in a bunny costume and the bunnies holding up the egg cup. There’s my childhood egg cup and a bunny standing outside his egg cup house.

Here we have hens and chicks and a scottie dog and two dogs holding up an eye cup and bunnies and a pig.

And, of course, there’s the Lamb with the Party Hat and lovely thimble with a cow on top sent to me by a blogging friend, Susi, who lives in Amsterdam.

A couple of the egg cups are here as the result of successful bidding wars in the middle of the night. I was younger then.

You know, of course, that looking at all these egg cups makes me want to hop on over to eBay and see what’s out there.

Happens every year. Like clockwork.

Happy Tuesday.

Glad Don got a break and came home for a visit!
I love your egg cups! I only have 5, 4 of which have polka dots ( which I love), and one is Peter Rabbit.
    Hope you are feeling better.

You have the a fascinating group of egg cups. I always enjoy seeing them. I can’t wait to see a new addition or two(wink).
I’m glad Don was able to visit.

Ditto…glad you and Don were together for the 24 hours. Was it planned or a surprise? Egg cups are so cute!

We talked about it on Saturday and Sunday and left it open because Don was really tired. But when he woke up Monday, he was ready to come home.

That was really sweet of Don to come home for 24 hrs. Yep…he’s quite the guy. So…started looking for more egg cups yet? It’s the perfect activity while you’re recovering! ;)

Oh, how nice Don got home for a little while; just the tonic you needed.

Love seeing the cups; adorable expressions on some of the faces.

I know that urge, and then having to say to myself, “You have enough.”

I loved hearing him play the uke on your I/g!

How does he feel about the hair and goatee? Does he want to keep it or does he sometimes just want to shave it all off?

My husband says that when he retires (soon!), he may go months without getting a haircut and he fully intends to regrow his facial hair. (Both he and Don still have a great head of hair when so many other guys we know, even in their 20s, are losing theirs.) My husband had a beard when I met him.

Eeeewww, though. I happened to see an ex-‘boyfriend’ from a hundred years ago who’s grown out his now-white beard down to the middle of his chest and I found it very unattractive when he could otherwise be so appealing. Straggly and very-unSanta!

He loves his hair and the goatee. I don’t see him cutting it, except to keep it trimmed. Beards down to the middle of the chest, however, would not be permitted by yours truly. Or a ponytail, which I see a lot in men with receding hairlines. I get it, it’s a way to grow your hair long in spite of what’s happening with the hairline. Thankfully, Don would never do it.

I am enjoying your Easter egg cup posts. My Mother used to make us soft boiled eggs in an egg cup. I have tried to make soft boiled eggs but I can’t seem to get it right. Must be missing the Mom ingredient.

So did my mom. In the egg cup your parents gave me, as a matter of fact! I’ve had trouble recreating many of the things my mom routinely made. Sigh.

Best medicine ever to have Don home with you ~ even if it was “just” for 24 hours. Hope you are feeling better.

My fav egg cup of yours has always been the 2 lifting up the egg cup. So cute!!

Rest well!! Tomorrow will be even better, I’m sure.

Welcome!

Welcome!

I live in a little cottage in the country with my husband. It's a sweet place, sheltered by old trees and surrounded by gardens. The inside is full of the things we love. I love to write, I love my camera, I love creating, I love gardening. My decorating style is eclectic; full of vintage and a bit of whimsy.

I've worked in the theater for more years than I can count. I'm currently a voice, speech, dialect and text coach freelancing on Broadway, off Broadway, and in regional theater.

Thanks for stopping by.
