I’m staying in the South Street Seaport area, in the shadow of the Brooklyn Bridge. I can see one of the towers from my window. I’m a block from the East River and a few blocks from Wall Street and Ground Zero. This morning I grabbed some time before rehearsal to take some photos for you:
This cross is made from beams found in the ruins of the World Trade Center. This is its temporary home – it will be installed in the Memorial Museum when it is finished.
This church, St. Paul’s Chapel, sits directly across from what was the World Trade Center. It is the oldest colonial church still standing in Manhattan. George Washington worshiped there and it provided continuous care to all the workers at the Ground Zero Site.
Tomorrow is my day off and I plan to visit a few of my favorite places – and I will have my camera in hand. Hope you had a great weekend.

Hi Claudia,
I logged on and you had just published your post…and I was just thinking about you….wondering if tonight was opening night or rehearsals.
What a city! I feel adrenlin moving within me whenever I read your posts about it. :0) I really need to win the lottery so I can come find that Loft that I’ve always dreamed of having. Wouldn’t that be nice? ha ha And we could shop til we drop! One can dream, right!?
Thanks for sharing the photos of the bridge and of ground zero…it’s still so fresh in my memory after all these years how the towers came down and to think that the historic church across the street is still standing. And what a beautiful church it is!
Have fun tomorrow..I’ll watch for more photos and tales of your adventure. ♥
Hugs,
Stephanie ♥

Just finished watching the Oscars… I really enjoyed it this year. Hope you were able to catch some of it. Yay, Colin Firth!!!
I really loved this post. Your photos are beautiful, and really inspire me to want to visit NYC someday. I’ve always been intrigued by the Brooklyn Bridge and anything with history, old or relatively current. Thanks so much for taking us along!
Hugs,
Jill
PS: You held an Oscar?? That’s so fun!

How exciting to be working with such a handsomely fine actor and to see an Oscar up close. Hope the play reversals continue to go well.
I have been on that bridge a few times when visiting NY.
Still such a somber feeling to see ground zero, will never leave our hearts. Glorious old church, I bet waking through those doors you truly get a sense of reverence.
Happy travels.

Beautiful photos… and no dirty snow! I’m only two hours from the city and I grew up on Staten Island but I don’t get down there more than once or twice a year… love seeing it through your eyes. Especially the old church.
Exciting times for you, good luck with the play!

Claudia, thank you for sharing these wonderful photos…..I love to see all aspects of NYC, what a beautiful city to be in!!!
I just watched Amadeus again, I can’t believe it was made in 1984, it seems like just yesterday! The music is just breathtaking, it never fails to move me to tears…..love, love it!!!
You have such an exciting career, what a joy to meet talented folks like Mr. Abraham. Everyday must be like opening a treasure chest filled with the most glorious jewels.
Each time I see the Ground Zero, I remember that day so well, what tragedy and heartbreak…..
I am so happy they are building a memorial for it.
Hugs,

Hi Claudia
I found you over on Elizabeth’s blog where you went to see her at Chelsea market.
How I would love to see NYC the places you and Elizabeth have showed on your blogs.
I think that little church St Pauls’ Chapel is precious and so glad it’s still there, not torn down for new development
What a happy life you have

What beautiful photos Claudia. It looks like you had some great weather. Fascinating about your Oscar connection! That cross is very moving. I have never seen or heard of it before. It seems so strange how fast those buildings have gone up then you realize it’s been nearly 10 years. It seems like last year sometimes.
Have a great week Claudia and good luck with your show!

I spent nearly 30 years living not too far away from where you took those pictures. They depict my memories and leave a bitter sweet feeling in my heart. Blessings, Joanne

Claudia, thanks for sharing your photos, especially those from ground zero, may we always remember…
F. Murray Abraham is quite the actor – I have always admired his understated ways. Small movie “An Innocent Man”, big quote in our house by him, “you have made my decade”.
This year the Oscars were not as entertaining for me, but I always enjoy the whole process nevertheless. Winners this year were much deserved.
Enjoy your time in NYC and I am happy to be along for the ride! Ann

Thanks for the New York tour, Claudia. I don’t think I’ll ever make it there. I don’t travel at all. So, I’m grateful for all those beautiful photos. You are such a good photographer.I just read up on the Brooklyn Bridge. If not for you, I would never have done that. Your tour is an education.
