Just a quick update: I’m home. I’m in a great deal of pain, but I’m home. Yesterday’s surgery was supposed to be at noon but due to unexpectedly long surgeries prior to mine, as well as an emergency that my doctor had to attend to, I didn’t get in the operating room until 2:30. The surgery went well – just 2 laparoscopic (is that a word?) cuts. I was home by 9:00 p.m.
Apparently, gas is pumped into the abdomen during the surgery, so that the doctor can see everything clearly. A nurse told me that some patients complain about pain in their right shoulder afterward. Well, let me tell you, my right shoulder and my side are killing me – the muscle spasms are really painful. If this pain would just go away, I think the abdominal pain would seem like a piece of cake.
Didn’t sleep enough because I couldn’t get comfortable. Don keeps saying, “Just think – your gall bladder’s gone – no more attacks!” I know that fact will hit me later, but right now? I just feel crappy.
Hopefully, you will hear from a less crabby Claudia in a few days.
Hi Claudia,
Glad everything went well and you’re home. Hang in there!
Sue

Sending you lots of get well energy! Feel better. Ciao, bella!

Hi Claudia,
I’ve been a follower for a long time time. I just haven’t been blogging too much the past few months. I decided to get on here a little bit this morning and your blog was the first one that popped up on my reader. I saw where you had just had surgery so I wanted to stop in and check on you. I’m glad that your surgery went well. I know how bad it hurts. I had mine taken out in 2005. I feel so much better now. I can actually eat good food without getting sick. You will be feeling better soon. Just take it easy for a few days.
Now I’m gonna go back and catch up on your previous posts. :)
Take care,
Lee Laurie
Feel better soon, Claudia! I’ve been through the laproscopy-pain-in-the-shoulder thing and it’s no fun. You’re entitled to be crabby. And before you know it, you’ll feel better.
Hugs:)
Hi Claudia,
Glad your surgery is over. I had mine done the same way. They had me put ice packs on my stomach when I was resting and told me to walk around the house as often as I could. I think both of those things really helped. I didn’t have the shoulder pain afterwards mine was before the surgery. Hope you have a quick recovery.
Hugs from Kansas!
Wishing you a speedy recovery.
Time will take care of the crappy feeling, just glad you are home where you will heal.
Yay DON!!

Hi Claudia,
I know how you feel, I do hope you are feeling better this morning. I remember after my gall bladder surgery I felt like I had done 1 million sit ups….
You really will feel better soon and you will be glad you had the surgery.
Your sewing area is so sweet and such a perfect space. I have a siting area in my bedroom that I’m thinking about using as my sewing room.
Have a restful day and big hugs for you.
Elizabeth
And whatever you do, dont watch funny movies as laughter in this case is not good medicine. The bloat will subside soon and you will be feeling good as new.
In the meantime, enjoy the pampering and stay cool.
i’m glad your surgery is over and that it went well. I sure hope the pain from the gas goes away quickly. Thinking of you!
Poor Baby, sweet Claudia. Am sending Good Thoughts for a SPEEDY, SPEEDY recovery and for this pain to disappear NOW ! ! !
sending hugs,
Gerry
Hi Claudia…So glad you are home and the surgery went well! I am sorry you are feeling crappy from the after effects but you will be feeling alot better soon. After reading all the comments from your friends, I can’t believe how many people have had their gall bladders removed! Hang in there and enjoy being pampered!~Hugs, Patti
OH, I hope that pain passes quickly, Claudia! Glad the surgery is over and I’m sending good thoughts and prayers that you’ll be feeling better SOON! XO
Oh I know the pain. Just think every day it gets better. and don’t be a hero. if they gave you pain meds take them if it gets to be too much. Hope you feel better soon!
Blessings, Joanne
Heal quickly, Claudia. Looking forward to more posts. Take care of yourself. Hugs, Deb=^..^=x4
Hopefully the pain will lessen quickly Claudia. Best wishes for a quick recovery! Ann
Welcome home! Glad to know it’s behind you and you are on the road to recovery. I too had a surgery once that required that same gas — I was told to lie down and it would pass, uh, out (sorry) because sitting up causes it to go up into the shoulders and it is indeed painful. So sorry you’re having to deal with it but it gets better every day. Take care!!
When I had my appendix out my shoulder was killing me for a few days. The nurse told me to carefully get on all fours (like your cute puppies) and stick my bottom in the air for a few minutes. The change of direction would help the gas disapate “naturally” if you know what I mean? LOL! Might be too much info, but it was the only thing that helped make me feel better!
Claudia, so glad the surgery went well and all is behind you now. Try to relax and take your mind off the pain, perhaps those great books! You will be up and about before long, pain-free!
Blessings, Linda
Caludia, I am happy that the surgery was successful. Now lie back and let Don take care of you. It will get better. Hang in there!
Hugs, Casey
Big hill climbed. So glad the surgery is over. Hope you feel better soon.
Hi Claudia! Glad the surgery went well. Hope you are pain free soon. Wishing you a speedy recovery so you can be up on your feet creating again! Until then….relax and give your body the rest it needs to heal.
Sandy
It will take a while to get back to normal…..but thankfully it’s over and all went well, this makes me so happy!
Rest up – get better – be patient – and know we’re all thinking about you dear Claudia.
Hugs – Mary
Claudia,
I hope the pain subsides soon. If you are able to slowly move around it will help the gas go away. hugs♥O
I’m so glad the surgery is behind you Claudia. I want to know how you lucked out with just two cuts to get yours out? I had to have four…you could play connect the dots on my belly and it would look like a puppy.LOL! Yes the pain is intense the first few days, but then, not so bad! And no more of those awful attacks.
sending healing hugs your way…
Oh! So sorry to hear you’re recovery is going a bit slower than you hoped. My 19 yo daughter got appendicitis last week and ended up with emergency surgery…they pumped the same gas in her abdomen and she complained a lot about the shoulder pain. In fact, she said the same thing…if the shoulder pain would go away the abdominal pain would be a piece of cake!
We’re actually off to the surgeon for her post-op appt. Thinking good thoughts for you as you recover!
I hope you feel better very soon. Try to get some rest this afternoon.

I’m so glad they were able to use that procedure, it makes for a much shorter recovery, and I’m very happy indeed to know that all has gone well.
Take good care Claudia.

YUCK! Gas is bad normally and to have it artificially done just stinks! Hope you can rest and feel better in a few days as it seems your incisions aren’t so bad. I do wish you quick relief :)
Hugs, Lisa
Oh my gosh, it makes me so mad that hospitals send people home too quickly, and THEN can’t even send you off with the proper pain meds!!.. So sorry to hear you’re hurting, and hope you’re feeling better soon. ((hugs)) ~tina
Claudia,
sounds like you’re at the worst of it. I hope it gets better for you real quick! Big hugs…well, maybe small soft hugs…or just blowing kisses!! ya, that’s better! Feel better soon!
Dear Claudia, sorry I was not here to wish you a good surgery- my family visited, and first now I`m back blogging.
I`m glad the surgery went well, but sorry for you ,you have to deal with all that pain…
I dearly hope it will soon be gone, dear-and wishes you soon to be all well again.

I called today, dear friend, and left a message. Don’t want to bother you, but will call again. So glad it’s all over. I had you in my pocket the WHOLE ENTIRE TIME. Was it snug in there?
Brenda
Take care Claudia- I’m glad the surgery part is behind you and the healing can begin.
Hi Claudia,
The gas they use can sometimes cause a problem afterwards. Did they tell you how long that shoulder/side pain should last? I do hope it goes away soon. I don’t tolerate a lot of pain very well so I feel your misery. Oh and I appreciate your comment on my cutting table revamping. My back no longer hurts.
You take care and keep us updated.
((((((Comfort coming your way))))))
Gentle Hugs,
Stephanie Suzanne ♥
Hi Claudia!! I’m so glad you’ve gotten that over with and so hope you’re on the mend soon…please rest and take those pain meds :) hugs and love, Dawn
Just think, you’ll never have to do it again! and no more attacks. Hope you are already feeling better.
But OH, aren’t you glad it’s over!
And I love the “new” mirror!
Feel better!
Hi Claudia,
So glad to hear you’re home and on your way to feeling great! Take care.
-Lynn
Take it easy. Glad to hear you are home. It can only get better from here.
I have been preoccupied the last couple of days, and completely missed that your surgery was scheduled — and now completed! Sending many healing thoughts and wishes. That gas may be helpful for the surgeon, but I know what a pain it is as a patient. Feel better soon!
Glad you are home and everything went well….you’ll feel so much better soon!!!!
Hugs,
Margaret B

So glad you’re home, and on your way to recovery. Post-op pain sucks. Okay, I said it. It sucks sucks sucks.
Please take your pain meds… round the clock. Pain meds are prescribed for a good reason after surgery. You don’t want to pass out three days post-op like someone foolish I know who thought she could tough it out, and actually let her body slip into shock. (That foolish person would be moi.)
Okay, enough lecturing. Sending happy, healing, nurturing thoughts your way…
Big Hugs,
Jill
PS: I’m almost finished creating your “fabulous mystery gift” :)
You will feel better soon Claudia. So glad to hear that it is over. Rest, relax and repair. Don’t rush.
Take Care,
Sue
Bless your heart Claudia! I can actually say “I know what you are going through”! The pain is yucky, isn’t it? For me it took 1 week before it didn’t hurt as much. I hope your recovery is a fast one and Don is taking real good care of you. I am glad your surgery is behind you now!
Love you,
Maryjane
Oh Claudia, I’m sorry to hear that you’re having so much pain. Sending big HUGS and hoping you’re feeling better very soon.
Hi Claudia,
So sorry you have these days of pain to endure… I have not ever experienced a procedure where they pump gas into you, but from all I’ve heard from those who have, it is NO FUN…. :(
Wish they could come up with another way to help them see better that doesn’t involve bloating up the abdomen…
Been thinking about you — so nice to see this blog post!!
And glad you’re home!!
XOXO
Ruth
Claudia,
It’s good to hear that your surgery went well. Hopefully today your shoulder is feeling better.
Take care,
Mandy
Glad your surgery is over and done with. Hope you feel better soon.
Sorry you aren’t feeling well. Glad you’re surgery went well. Feel better….~Delores
Glad all went well, Claudia. You’ll be OK in no time!
Thinking of you.

I went through the same thing with my gallbladder surgery. And yes, it does go away, but mighty uncomfortable for a bit. The rest of your recuperation should be easy after that.
I’ve been thinking of you Claudia- I am glad you came through the surgery okay. I hope you feel better very soon! Sending gentle hugs your way ♥
Oh Claudia! I have been away in England all month long and just returned home. I did not know you were going through difficulty! I am glad to hear you are through the surgery, but not glad to hear you are suffering. I have had plenty of Laproscopy (sp) and remember the “gas” pains were really quite bad. But they should subside soon. I do hope you are more comfortable very soon. I am thrilled you will no longer be having gall bladder problems.
Hugs of healing,
Terri
Thinking of you. Hope the pains are subsiding. Take care.
Hi Claudia,
I am so glad that your surgery is over. Hope the pain subsides from the gas soon. I have been having a hard time sleeping, too, this week. My allergies/asthma have been acting up and I am awake at 4 a.m. Hope we are both sleeping peacefully soon! Don is sweet for trying to encourage and console you during your surgery recovery. I hope that you are feeling wonderful again soon! xoxo Kim
