An Exotic Visitor

How about this beauty?

red-spotted purple3

I watched her fly in a circle around me and I stayed very still, hoping she would land somewhere. She did.

Come on…open your wings.

Red-Spotted Purple2

Red-Spotted Purple1

Oh my! What an exotic beauty.

Of course I looked her up. She’s a Red-Spotted Purple Butterfly (limenitus arthemis astyanax.)

She’s a member of the Brush-Footed Butterfly family and she likes Lantana (we have that here) Common Milkweed (check) and Butterfly Bush (check, again.)

I’m so glad I got to see her!

I’m in Manhattan today, working as the text coach for a production of Much Ado About Nothing. But leave a comment, if you are so inclined. I miss you guys!

Happy Saturday.

So pretty! I had a butterfly land on my hand once while swimming and stay for what seemed like a minute. Sweet little tickles on my hand as she moved around.

With a name like Red-Spotted Purple Butterfly …. the blue details on the back of her wings make for a pleasant surprise.
    Lovely.
    Have a wonderful day…safe travels.

The kids I keep have seen a lot of pretty butterflies, a robin, some lizards and our frolicking squirrels this week. Our front glass door is shaded by two huge oaks so we have nature in view all the time. My mother has been gone for 15 years and she loved butterflies so I always think of her when I see one?

That is a beautiful butterfly. Love the colors. I was outside today wondering when the hummingbirds would show up. Awhile later as i was sitting on the swing one hovered about 5 feet from me. He was interested in the Maltese Cross. I was so shocked to see one so close that I didn’t even get my camera turned on. It was just so wonderful to see one up close and personal. :) But it is on my list to get a good shot of one.

Welcome!

Welcome!

I live in a little cottage in the country with my husband. It's a sweet place, sheltered by old trees and surrounded by gardens. The inside is full of the things we love. I love to write, I love my camera, I love creating, I love gardening. My decorating style is eclectic; full of vintage and a bit of whimsy.

I've worked in the theater for more years than I can count. I'm currently a voice, speech, dialect and text coach freelancing on Broadway, off Broadway, and in regional theater.

Thanks for stopping by.
