And Down They Go

March 8, 2018 at 9:24 am by Claudia

No time for a normal post today. That lovely view of the shed from yesterday?

Here it is this morning:

A massive limb came down from the catalpa. Heartbreaking.

And if I hadn’t moved our CR-V, it would have been crushed.

A simply horrible nor’easter, with magical views, yes, but all that heavy wet snow makes for tree damage and limbs falling.

I was outside at 10 pm trying to knock snow off low-hanging branches.

Anyway, I have to shovel and figure out who I can find to chop this up.

Happy Thursday.

Sheeeeese! Mother Nature can be sooo horrific when she’s in a mood! She just likes to remind us who’s in charge every now and then. We could trade places for a change and you could come down for some warm weather where we only worry about hurricanes, humidity, bugs, snakes and such. Pfffffffft. Hope you get it sorted out soon. Be safe.

At least we didn’t have the wind we had last Friday. What a shame to loose that limb. The snow looks beautiful, but this is a very dangerous, damaging kind of snow. Be careful shoveling.

Hope you find someone to chop up and dispose of the tree limb. Will it be any good for firewood? I don’t know anything about catalpa trees. Thank goodness it missed the shed and didn’t crush your cars! Sorry for the snow shoveling. Maybe the nor’easter will move along quickly! My paternal family (aunts, uncles, cousins) are in the Ottawa area. The snow there is supposed to stop by the weekend, but start up again next weekend. I’ve never visited in snow season, but experienced many times the mugginess of summer.

Holey moley, Claudia! Sorry about the tree but way-to-go moving your CRV. That was smart. Your experience with hideous weather is showing – LOL. You shouldn’t have any trouble finding someone who’ll want the wood from that branch, especially not in your neck of the Valley. Just ask the next guy you encounter – mail carrier, delivery person, whoever. If he doesn’t want it, odds are he knows someone who might. You continue to be careful yourself too. Peace.

Claudia, what a time; what a time. I worry about you being out there in the dark and cold, trying to get snow off branches late at night. You had your phone on you, of course. But that kind of cold is deathly and you’re alone. Maybe you’ll move to Florida after this!

Actually, when the snow is heavy and wet like this storm, it’s because it’s warmer outside. So it wasn’t that cold out there. (I’ll never move to Florida! I’m not a fan.) Thanks, Vicki!

Oh, my! I bet this is heartbreaking for Don, knowing you are there alone. I hope you are almost done with the snow now. Serendipity to move the vehicles. The poor trees have had nearly all they can take, too. Horrible winter, it is time for her to take her leave. Along with the snow, I am also very over the cold temperatures.

Safe clean-up. I’m sure you will find someone who will be happy to have the wood. Glad you didn’t lose power. (I’m trying to find some positives here) Take care, kiddo!

Gadzooks.. that is a lot of snow! Sorry you’re having to deal with this alone. We have some downed limbs in our little woods next to our farmhouse.. my husband will have to use our tractor with the forks on it to haul them to the burn pile this summer. Do stay safe and warm and don’t overdo on the shoveling! ((hugs)), Teresa :-)

Welcome!

Welcome!

I live in a little cottage in the country with my husband. It's a sweet place, sheltered by old trees and surrounded by gardens. The inside is full of the things we love. I love to write, I love my camera, I love creating, I love gardening. My decorating style is eclectic; full of vintage and a bit of whimsy.

I've worked in the theater for more years than I can count. I'm currently a voice, speech, dialect and text coach freelancing on Broadway, off Broadway, and in regional theater.

Thanks for stopping by.
