I hope you don’t mind, but I’m not going to reply to yesterday’s comments, only because I had another sleepless night (must be a phase) and I have to write this post and drive Don to the bus station.
Short answer to your questions: Yes. I know the cats kill birds. I’ve found evidence.
We had a lovely low key day together, mostly hanging out at the house save for a lovely lunch in a neighboring town. We’re now into Wallander, which for some reason, I haven’t watched before. So well done. And Kenneth Branagh is perfect in the role. Lovely, understated performance.
Oh, before I forget: I was on Amazon yesterday and one of those ‘for you’ reminders came up. Much to my astonishment, since she said she wasn’t writing any more books in this series, Susan Hill has another Simon Serailler mystery coming out in November! Huzzah! I loved that series and was so disappointed when I thought we wouldn’t be seeing any more of Simon.
A lovely, velvety pansy.
Last night’s sunset. No filter, no enhancing. This is how it looked.
Spectacular.
The temps are going to be well over 20 degrees warmer than yesterday. Mid seventies. It’s sunny, as well. So even though I’m beat, I’m going to do some work outside as we have only two rainless days this week – today and tomorrow.
Happy Tuesday.
I am so grateful that you wrote that Susan Hill has a new book coming out in November about Simon Serailler. I truly love that series. I wrote her when I finished the last book and asked her if she was planning on any more books about Simon. She wrote me a very nice note and said no more books about Simon. She wanted to move forward and write new things. I am so thrilled she changed her mind and come November I will be enjoying a new book about Simon and enjoying the fall weather at the same time. I will be thinking will this be the last book about Simon or will she write more. I hope more will be the answer.
I hope so, too, Charlotte!
Oh, Claudia, I hope you’ll get better sleep soon. Shortened/restless sleep is so hard on us.
Thank you for showing us the recent gorgeous skyscapes…
I don’t know if it’ll happen, but ‘they say’ we might get rain in SoCalif later today; never expected that in May, so late. We only had two rainstorms this winter; we need it.
I hope you get some rain, Vicki!
Thanks, but it was only passing sprinkles; sigh…
xo
I hope you can get some sleep. I’ve had many nights like that and it takes a toll on your body and mind. Enjoy the sunshine while you can.
It does. I always feel slightly crazy when I haven’t slept well.
My husband and I just binge watched “Wallander” last week. The second time we have seen this series. It is so good. I can see me watching it again too! I always see and hear things I missed the first time. Or the second time.
Enjoy your week.
It’s really wonderful!
good luck with the gardening, especially when you are tired. hope you get to sleeping better!
and hooray for you having another book to look forward to! and for those pretty, pretty skies.
no worries about not commenting, especially when don’s home and your time together is limited at present or when you are tired. no worries, i say!
safe travels to you and don.
and happy tuesday.

Thank you, Kathy! I just did a mess of stuff outside and now I’m collapsing in my chair.
I use a lavender sachet under my pillow and three times a week freshen it with lavender oil. A breathing exercise also helps.
I do breathing exercises and all sorts of things. It will pass. Thanks, Nidia!
I hope you will sleep well tonight. Working outside can usually help that, making you physically tired. But when our bodies are tired but our mind can’t stop running, it just can be awful. I have been known to use some Tylenol PM when it has been several nights. I get pretty crabby with no sleep ~ to which my family can attest.
We just had a lovely rain shower. We are in a drought situation which seems crazy after the snow we had. But we do have rain in the forecast for a few days this week which is a very good thing. I hope you have a good and productive day!
I get VERY crabby with no sleep!
I hope your sleepless faze is short. I can’t stand it when I have trouble sleeping. It’s been happening a lot now. Your picture of the pansy was beautiful! What did you use to take it?
I used my Canon Rebel, Jane.
I echo everyone else to hope you get more sleep tonight and break your current little sleep pattern, Claudia. A good physical bout in the garden helps, but you also have to quiet your mind. I personally don’t meditate, but a friend of mine swears by it. I usually have a night here and there when I can’t sleep, but it’s usually because of something about which I know better…not drink so much caffeine or eat so much chocolate. Enjoy the warm weather!
I’ve been up a bit later than normal the last two nights because Don is used to going to bed later because of the show. That didn’t help!
Usually fresh air and gardening make for a good nights sleep for me. But, some nights I just can’t seem to turn my brain off. Hope you get a good nights sleep tonight. It’s finally raining here!! ;))
Thank you, Donna. Glad you’re getting some rain!
I’m always sad when a series I love ends – so yay for Susan Hill giving us more! You were the one who turned me on to that series and I loved it.
It’s so good. So November will bring the new Susan Hill and the new Louise Penny!
such a beautiful sky! i never fail to think silently…
“red sky at night sailor’s delight…”
as if i were going to sail anywhere! lol.
here’s to a great week for you dear bean. xo
It’s proved true. It’s a lovely day today! Thanks, Tammy.
I hope you get some sleep tonight. Glad you had a good and relaxing time with Don.
Marilyn
Thanks, Marilyn! I worked hard outside today, so hopefully, I’ll sleep well.
Bought a bunch of flowers at the greenhouse today…I have much planting to do…you certainly do have some gorgeous sunsets up there!
We really do!
