Goodness. We had thunderstorms all day long yesterday and well into the night, as well. Truly unbelievable! I don’t think I’ve ever experienced that before – they never stopped. We’re due for more this afternoon. Of course, the hydrangeas are no longer erect; they’re drooping. This happens every year. Just as they’re blooming, a torrential rain comes along and no more perky hydrangeas.
Anyway, it was interesting. And rather exhausting as well. We must have had a couple inches of rain. Today and tomorrow will also be rainy and then I think we’ll get a break on Thursday.
A darkish shelf – it’s cloudy out there.
This is the bottom shelf in the pink cabinet which is upstairs in the office.
On the left, a stack of magazines and books in which I was featured. On top of them, my dad’s name plate that used to be on his desk when he worked at Michigan Bell Telephone Co. On top – a dish holding sewing pins, 2 Ladurée boxes from Paris.
Next to that stack, two more Ladurée boxes, and a Santa sitting on top of a bell from Vintage by Crystal.
To the right in the rear of the cabinet – a stack of vintage glove boxes. I love them.
In front of them, four Vintage by Crystal pieces, and a toy we had when Z was a child. We used to hold it up when we were Facetiming with him.
Behind the Vintage by Crystal pieces is my favorite piece of Roseville. It’s very hard to find and it took me a long time to find a a listing that was affordable. You can hardly see it in this rainy day picture, but here’s a better picture:
This is the Cherry Blossom pattern. It came in two different colorways, the other being earth tones. But, heck, you know why I was drawn to this colorway. I love this piece so much and now that I’m looking at this photo, I’m thinking I need to place it in the foreground instead of behind the figurines. I just did a quick search on eBay and I could only find a few pieces listed. This pattern and another pattern – Morning Glory – seem to be rare, so in a pretty affordable Roseville market, they remain pricey. I’ll post a photo of Morning Glory one day. I really love it.
Wait a minute, there should be another bunny in that photo. Where the heck is it? I’ll have to conduct a search.
Stay safe.
Happy Tuesday.

love the shape and blue of the roseville vase. i had the same thought … why is it hidden in the back?!? (something always has to be in the back, kathy!).
hope you find the bunny!
also love crystal’s work and especially that you have your father’s name plate. :)
thanks for another lovely shelf tour.
that’s a good amount of rain! jealous here, but happy for you. though because we didn’t get the forecasted rain yesterday, we were able to go to a state park and it was beautiful. we’d hoped to get to a site where you are supposed to be able to see a river flowing in all four directions, but couldn’t walk the uneven ground for at least a half-mile (plus, the sheriff at the park said all the trees’ leaves would block the view). huge, huge old trees along the paths. we arrived at an especially fortunate time when the sunlight itself, coming between some of the trees, felt overwhelmingly green, made the path, the rocks, us, everything seem green. we went through an area of the park with hundreds and hundreds of large moths … they flew up, around and on us (that was both incredible and kind of spooky). and even though it took all of maybe ten seconds each time, several times we were able to ford a river (in my car). and i found something i collect, a heart-shaped rock. so glad we went … it was overwhelming in a wonderful way! :)
hope you, don and everyone else have an overwhelmingly-wonderful day, too. stay safe.

The bunny was just out of the shot on the right!
Sound like a lovely day at the State Park, Kathy!

I am so jealous of your thunderstorms. We did see lightning Saturday night and heard thunder, a sound we haven’t heard in a very long time…but the rain amount was laughable.
Very lovely vase…don’t think I’ve ever seen that pattern before. Maybe some rearranging is in your future?
Hope you find your bunny! ;)
Claudia says
I so wish you will get rain soon, Donnamae.
Now we have flood warnings and and the rivers are very high.
Found the bunny.
Stay safe.

Fun to see your Vintage Crystal figures. You must have got the Laduree boxes when you were in Paris. Nice keepsakes. We got lots of rain, too. I’m hoping it will be nice for Canada Day on Saturday. We’re invited to friends for a picnic under the apple tree in their lovely garden. Hope you get nice weather to celebrate July 4th. Boy, the days keep whizzing by, don’t they? Hugs, Elaine
Claudia says
We don’t do a lot on the Fourth except celebrate the anniversary of the day we met – 29 years ago.
Stay safe, Elaine.

We’re heading into some warm weather mid-week through the July 4 weekend, so my potted plants will need to be watered more frequently. I wouldn’t want thunderstorms, but I wouldn’t mind some rain.
Your rabbit went on an adventure. Hope you find them soon.
Claudia says
Found the bunny just to the right out of the shot.
Stay safe, Wendy.

That Cherry Blossom Roseville is breath taking! I don’t remember ever seeing a piece of it. Right now I’m in love with Foxglove and Magnolia. I checked my Roseville book and the brown and beige Cherry Blossom is not nearly as pretty as the blue and pink. You are fortunate to have that piece. I love seeing your shelf posts!
Claudia says
I love Magnolia, it’s so lush looking.
Thanks so much, Judy.

I love seeing your shelf photos. They make me smile — it’s a great idea for a post. And I especially love the Vintage by Crystal people. You got me hooked on her — I love it!

Thanks so much, Jeanie.

Kay in SE WI says
Yes, that vase needs to be front and center somewhere. It’s so beautiful to look at. Too bad there isn’t a way to keep those hydrangeas from drooping. Maybe after they dry out they’ll perk up a bit.
We had two days of so-so rain and today woke up to the smell of smoke from the wildfires. I thought it was foggy out but, nope, that was the smoke hanging in the air. So, windows were shut and the air is on again. I can’t remember the last time our air quality wasn’t orange or red — really bad.
Take care,
Kay

Yes, I’ve heard that the midwest is being impacted. Believe me, having been through it a month or so ago, I know what it’s like. Stay indoors, Kay.
Stay safe.

I enjoy these glimpses of your shelves. I, too, love pretty boxes of all sorts, including those quilted glove or hanky boxes. They remind me of my Mother – she had them in her dressers.

Thank you so much!
