Tomorrow we start run-throughs of all 3 plays and they will continue through Sunday. That is the last day we are in the rehearsal rooms. Tuesday marks the beginning of tech rehearsals for King Lear – onstage under the stars.

I was given a special mission today. Drive to Old Towne Orange, find adorable little vintage sheep from previous post, buy 3 for my sister and 1 for me (thanks, Mer), bring them back to MHC West. Mission accepted. Since today’s rehearsals didn’t really require my presence, I decided this was the day. Luckily, the little sheep were still there. Mission accomplished.
Could they be any cuter? They have their original paper collars with ‘Germany’ stamped on them. I’ve done some research – they are called German woolly stick leg sheep or German Putz sheep. They were made in Germany in the early part of the 20th century for putz (landscape) scenes. Pennsylvania Dutch and Moravian families made little putz scenes at Christmas. These sheep are about 2″ high and 2″ from tail to head.
A tad blurry -but there is the collar stamped ‘Germany.’ One of this sheep’s eyes has worn off.
Meredith – I’m taking the sheep with the aqua collar, if it’s all right with you. Thank you to Jillian of Bella Rosa Antiques who left a comment telling me I should snap them up. Apparently the legs are fragile and are often broken – so to find them in good condition is rare.
Lori of My Faerie Window says that sheep like hats…. So I am going to make a little hat for my sheep. I’ll post photos when I have something wearable.
I promised I would share photos of the sale at the Urban Barn. There are quite a few, so I will spread them over a few posts. I will keep my comments to a minimum.

By the way, while I was typing away just now, I felt an earthquake. Just a tad unsettling. The local news just confirmed that we had a 5.1 quake. And we can expect more in the ‘near future.’
