Autumn

October 18, 2011 at 6:00 am by Claudia

Our Maple tree is losing its leaves at a fast pace. I fear that the endless rains and wind we have had over the past few months have left their mark on our Autumn. The colors are not as vivid as usual. I do love the crunch of leaves under my feet as I walk through the yard.

Monday was a beautiful day, with a slight breeze and that brilliant fall light that is so distinctive.

Because I was ill during the summer, I didn’t plant my zinnia seeds until rather late. Much to my delight, the zinnias have provided some welcome autumn blooms (although some critter has been munching those leaves.)

How is Autumn in your neck of the woods?

It’s really pretty in our neck of the woods, colors are nice, but I’ve seen better. We have had those same distinctive October skies though, until rain and clouds gather tomorrow. Still, it beats the bugs and humidity of summer for me. Enjoy your day, Claudia!

I love autumn too. Living with the view from my kitchen vindow to the forrest just across the road is just beautiful. Love the colors changing on the trees. My favorite time of the year.
    Have a wonderful day Claudia.

Beautiful Claudia! My favorite time of the year. Have you been to Mohonk or Minnewaska lately? I went this weekend, just gorgeous right now! I think I’m going apple picking with a friend later across the river this morning-hope I get some good photos. Have a good day!

Zinnias are so pretty. Love the pinks on yours. Sometimes, I miss the feel of fall coming on and the crispness of the leaves on the ground.

I think most of us see a not so colorful Autumn this year following the crazy weather pattern we’ve all suffered through. Our trees are just changing now with the cooler nights, but they aren’t really gorgeous like some years here in the Piedmont area. Leaves falling seem more twig clusters so far, making us concerned that the trees are hurting with less rain and more heat all Summer long. However, not all is lost, the Autumn floral displays have been amazing. I don’t have zinnias, but love their brilliant colors. Looks like the nightly slugs are enjoying your garden Claudia. I’ve had them too!

Poor Bob will be raking alone this Fall – I always complain about doing that chore however deep down I really love it, especially when I can jump in a big pile!

Hope you are getting better. I’m staying far away from people with colds – can’t take a chance – so may not even get to hug some favorite family and friends goodbye!

I will do Reality this week but don’t be surprised if I’m missing for a while after that! I’ll try to keep in touch when Internet is available.

Bye for now – take care, and kick some pretty leaves for me please.
    Hugs – Mary

I think I missed most of mine in the business of work. Either that or the colors were not that great here either. I love the crisp cool air though-and the way it smells- heavenly :) Your zinnias are beautiful!

Since I am way East of you our trees are just begining to lose their leaves. It always makes me a bit sad…but that it is only until I start baking! YUM!

No Autumn here at all, but it is supposed to be cooler at the end of the week, high in the upper 60’s. I’ll take it.

I’m so glad to have gotten up to Michigan this fall. Our leaves here are doing the same as yours. No real color, just dropping. And the last of my zinnias are freezing at night, so their days are numbered. Off to see what your sis is up to.

Welcome!

Welcome!

I live in a little cottage in the country with my husband. It's a sweet place, sheltered by old trees and surrounded by gardens. The inside is full of the things we love. I love to write, I love my camera, I love creating, I love gardening. My decorating style is eclectic; full of vintage and a bit of whimsy.

I've worked in the theater for more years than I can count. I'm currently a voice, speech, dialect and text coach freelancing on Broadway, off Broadway, and in regional theater.

Thanks for stopping by.
