Autumn, Secret Garden & Baseball

October 8, 2021 at 9:14 am by Claudia

Autumnal and Foggy Secret Garden.

It’s 9 am and it’s still very foggy out there! When I walked outside, I could hear the drip, drip, drip of water falling from the trees. It’s mysterious and wonderful.

Oh, Red Sox. Somehow, I think you’re not going to outplay the Rays. We’ll still cheer you on and of course, you never know, but I have this feeling. And no offense to Floridians, but I hate the indoor ballpark aka Tropicana Field. It looks fake. And I’ve been there in person. I watched a Yankees vs Rays game there with my sister and nephew several years ago. I understand of course, why it needs to be an indoor park, but on television – and in person – the colors look garish, there are ridiculous rules about the metal rings at the top of the dome and what happens if the ball hits the rings (which happened last night,) there are no outdoor sounds, and there’s no weather – it’s like an alternate world out of some movie.

Nevertheless, I applaud the Rays, especially since they aren’t a big budget team, like the Yankees or the Red Sox. Frankly, I think athletes earn way too much and it’s always refreshing to see a winning team emerge in spite of a limited payroll. “Limited” of course, only as compared to the astronomical salaries paid to professional athletes. Yes, their playing years are short, but so are the performing years of a professional ballet dancer and believe me, they don’t get paid anything remotely near that amount of money. Of course, I could go on with this and compare the salaries of professional athletes with teachers, and nurses, and grocers, and machinists, and bakers, and cooks, and on and on. It’s so skewed.

Well! I didn’t mean to go off on that tangent but that’s what happens when you write a daily blog. Posts aren’t planned ahead of time. They just spring forth out of the moment.

Something exciting is coming in today’s mail. I’ll share it with you tomorrow.

And we have an anniversary coming up next week…

There’s a problem with the email for this blog right now, so I’m not getting comments sent to me nor are my replies, etc., getting to you. My host is working on it. So check back if you want to read my reply! Thanks so much.

Stay safe.

Happy Friday.

Oh yes I agree about the salaries of athletes.
I think of the skillful surgeons who have helped both me and my husband and they will never ever make those salaries.
How do they make this a better world?
    The greed sickens me.
Oh well we are off to get our flu shot and enjoy this day.

When I tried to access your blog this morning, without an email prompt, it said “this account has been suspended.” I thought….what on earth did Claudia do to merit that…lol? Ah…the internet…hope you get ‘whatever’ fixed.

The Brewers are in the playoffs as well…I might get to watch them today, but, we have an outdoor project to finish first. Don’t get me started on overpaid professional player’s salaries…in my opinion.

Foggy here too, combined with mist….I need sunshine. (But we need the rain…it’s a dilemma.). Enjoy your day! ;)

Same thing happened to me. My host is migrating accounts to a new something or other. But I still can’t get the email to work, so hopefully, that will resolve itself.

      Stay safe, Donna!

Claudia — hope your day goes well — re: pro sports — how in the world can any human believe/think he/she is worth 50 million $$??? I despise fball players making salaries like that — do they honestly think they are worth it or deserve it?? not in my opinion — these exhorbitant wealthy team owners should be supporting dr, nurses, med personnel who could save lives — also add JBezos and any other obscenely wealthy — put their money where it can help millions of people. so sorry, but this is an extremely hot topic w/me. stay safe, healthy

your photo: is that coleus in the pots (gorgeous and autumnal in the setting!)?

(we got a tiny spot of rain last night in drought-ridden SoCalif again; to hear the sound of it is BLISS!)

I have to agree that athletes salaries are exorbitant. I am not much of a professional sports fan though so maybe I don’t see the value others do.
I made the mistake of agreeing to get both my flu shot and covid booster at the same time, one in each arm. The pharmacist asked, said it’s fine to do both. I felt like a truck hit me the next day. I will never do that again. I still feel tired today but fever is gone. I am telling myself that I know my immune system is working well and that’s a good thing.
I wonder if the pharmacist had flu vaccine he was trying to use up. Anyway, to anyone who is thinking about getting both at once….I don’t recommend it.
    Stay safe

I’m sorry that happened! We held off getting our flu shots for just that reason!

      Feel better, Marilyn.

      Stay safe.

Welcome!

Welcome!

I live in a little cottage in the country with my husband. It's a sweet place, sheltered by old trees and surrounded by gardens. The inside is full of the things we love. I love to write, I love my camera, I love creating, I love gardening. My decorating style is eclectic; full of vintage and a bit of whimsy.

I've worked in the theater for more years than I can count. I'm currently a voice, speech, dialect and text coach freelancing on Broadway, off Broadway, and in regional theater.

Thanks for stopping by.
