Baby Bunny & a Birthday

July 31, 2010 at 7:28 am by Claudia

Baby bunny sighting out the kitchen window, hence the screen effect. This is the littlest one I’ve seen. The early evening sunlight glowed through the baby’s ears.

The bunnies rarely dine in the garden. It hasn’t been a problem. I know, knock on wood! We have so many areas around the edges of the property that have wildflowers and wild roses and weeds that there is plenty to dine on. Last night’s dinner seemed to be grass. You can see all the dead patches from the horrible heat we’ve had this summer.

Speaking of that, we seem to be in a cooler spell. This morning I got up, came downstairs and felt chilly! We’d left the windows open for the dogs and it was positively brisk in here. I know the dogs were liking it because I could barely rouse them to go outside and take care of business.

Finally, HAPPY BIRTHDAY, MOM! My dear Mom is 83 years old today. You’re the best Mom and I love you very much. See you soon – I’m coming down in less than 2 weeks.

So cute! I adore bunnies, and have collected bunny things over the years. The last two evenings we have been watching a baby bunny outside my husband’s office. He, too, seems to like the grass best!

Good morning Miss Claudia! That little bun bun is precious. We never see them around our house. How is the poison ivy? Hope you are over the itches by now. Happy Birthday to your mom too! Have a great weekend, hugs and blessings, Nan

Hello! Just came by to catch up on what’s been happening here. You are very busy! Sorry about the poison ivy…boy can I relate. I had it EVERY summer as a child and had it bad. Now I just get weird heat rashes from time to time that I can’t explain. I have one right now and it is driving me nuts. That bunny is so cute! We have lots of turkeys that show up here. Hey…I ventured off and found Don on Google via a link you had on this blog and listened to some of his music. He’s FABULOUS!! I come from a musical family. My dad played guitar and banjo, had a band, & taught music. My brother lives in Nashville and plays as does his son, my nephew Adam. I’ve posted about them in the past. They are both home right now and we are having a gathering for them tomorrow! Adam produces music in Nashville. He is just finishing something with K.D. Lang. It’s taken him years to get this far though….it was a struggle for a long time. He is married to a sweet girl from the south that sings and plays. They have written and performed many songs together. Wow….you are so lucky!! Has he ever written a song for you? I love that!

Big Happy Birthday to your Mom! My CC always wanted a bunny. I always said “no, they just eat and poop.” That phrase became sort of a running joke around here but we adore bunnies.

Happy Birthday Claudia’s mom!! That little bunny is so sweet – we had three baby groundhogs hanging around here for a while. Cute until they decide to climb over the garden fence and begin nibbling on the just ripened tomatoes! Enjoy this cool weather – it’s lovely, isn’t it?

Bunnies are so sweet! I’ve had several around the property lately, I see them every morning when I leave and when I come home in the evening they’re still there, munching away! Plenty of grass, weeds, and native plants for them to feast on, so far no one has gotten into the cultivated (such as they are!) garden beds.
Enjoy your weekend, its cooling off here as well! ~Brooke

You should have just told everyone it was a new camera filter you were trying out on that sweet little bunny. :) I have seen some bunnies hopping around in our backyard too early in the morning. Claudia I just saw the article in RH about you. Woohoo….that’s fabulous! I get so excited when I spot someone I know in the decorating magazines….all thanks to this fabulous world of blogging! xo Lynn

Happy Birthday to your Mom. If you have any spare cooler weather, please send it to Kansas. I’m hiding out at home in the air conditioning, but its suppose to get even warmer next week- and you’re right, its as hard on the grass as the bunnies.

That bunny is adorable, Claudia. I just love little wild animals. They are so sweet. I have a squirrel who literally naps in the tree right by my kitchen window, and I am always racing for the camera. So glad you caught that bunny in a photo. Love it!

Happy Birthday to your dear mother, and I hope she has many happy returns this year and for many more to come! Please extend my regards. She certainly did a fine job bringing up a fine daughter.

    XO,

    Sheila :-)

Happy birthday, Claudia’s mom!!!!!! I’ll bet you are so looking forward to her visit!

And, Claudia, yes!! Aren’t we having the most delightful weather here in the northeast finally?

I have been sleeping at my dad’s house for the past week to help out after he had surgery and I got some cute photos of his bunny, a regular that he feeds carrots to! I’ll post them soon. Bunnies are just the sweetest little creatures, aren’t they? Love your baby!!!… Donna

I have been meaning to write you back and thank you for sharing more with me about your cottage. I think with your encouragement, I’m ready to tackle the whole downsizing dilemma. :-)

    Hello Claudia,

Awww how cute is that little bunny. I sure hope he (or she?) doesn’t carry any mischief on his pocket :-)

Here on my side, we have nothing but rain! It’s heavy rain, the kind where it’s still morning but looking outside you’d think it’s already early evening. Been like that for a month now.

On a happier note, Happy Birthday to you Mom! :-)

    Mizpah,
    Li

Hi Claudia, just wanted to pop by and thank you for stopping by my Summer Sundays post and leaving a comment – that cake is so easy to make, and makes two loaves, one for eating and one for giving away. The lemon scent with the loaves baking in the oven was wonderful. With all that vitamin C the cake is almost a fruit! Ciao, bella!

Welcome!

Welcome!

I live in a little cottage in the country with my husband. It's a sweet place, sheltered by old trees and surrounded by gardens. The inside is full of the things we love. I love to write, I love my camera, I love creating, I love gardening. My decorating style is eclectic; full of vintage and a bit of whimsy.

I've worked in the theater for more years than I can count. I'm currently a voice, speech, dialect and text coach freelancing on Broadway, off Broadway, and in regional theater.

Thanks for stopping by.
