Back to the City

October 3, 2021 at 9:56 am by Claudia

These beautiful little wildflowers are all over the property. They’ve sprung up everywhere, including where the yarrow used to be. It’s as if they decided to fill in that particular space so it stays beautiful. Thanks!

I head into the city again today. Same train – Amtrak, same schedule. Same hotel. Tomorrow is going to be rainy so that will have an effect on my long walk to rehearsal. I’ll be on a later train coming back because I’ll be at rehearsal until 6 pm. The run through is at 2.

I’m taking Marilyn’s advice and bringing a potato along with me, along with a small can of vegetarian baked beans. I’ll be set for dinner and I won’t have to trek to the supermarket. I can grab some lunch near rehearsal tomorrow and Don will bring some dinner along with him when he picks me up.

I’m not taking my laptop with me because I don’t trust the safety of the hotel WiFi. So no post tomorrow. It’s one less thing to haul in the suitcase, which is, frankly, a relief. The script is heavy enough!

Stay safe.

Happy Sunday.

Hi. This is Linda from the Laurel Highlands. You haven’t mentioned the name of those flowers. They’re asters. They are truly like stars strewn across our lawns and fields.

Yes, I knew they were asters but I didn’t mention the name. I showed some other asters yesterday. What a wonderful description of them, Linda – like stars!

      Thanks!

      Stay safe.

    Sweet wildflowers!

Loving again the idea of Comfort Food: “I’m taking Marilyn’s advice and bringing a potato along with me, along with a small can of vegetarian baked beans.” Excellent idea. Protein (beans) with the carb (potato); yum. I went to a dietician once who was big on beans and/or chili as topping for a baked potato. As in complete meal in a pinch.

Ugh, I did read about rain; umbrella or rain hat, trying to carry luggage; yikes; be safe; have on good shoes; will be happy to hear how it all went after you get back to the cottage!

Asters. I think I’ve always wondered about asters; so, there they are!

What a good idea about the potato. That and snacks should get you through. I see what you mean about the laptop. Probably very smart!

I make a grilled cheese sandwich with a piece of lunchmeat in it. It is good a day or two afterward. Can last in the refrig. That might be an idea for a portable meal/snack.

sounds like a good plan to take some food, but not the laptop. also that your transportation, hotel, etc. are basically the same as last time. make things as easy as can be.

and then your sweetie will be bringing you dinner?! lucky (blessed) you!

    the flowers are beautiful, too.

had a lovely ride with some members of my family again today, just riding in the country, talking, seeing new things, being together … :)

learned i didn’t get the job i zoom-interviewed for just over a week ago. disappointed, but found a couple places to apply. out of my field and i am okay with that. one would be a bit of a dream job, one of those things tucked away in my heart while working at other jobs to pay the bills and be where i’d long felt God wanted me to be (i feel that changing in a big way). more on that when there’s something to tell.

thanks to everyone praying for my family and me. i appreciate that and you all very much and look forward to the day when we can meet.

hope you are all having a nice night.

xo and prayers for you all.

If I had to guess (after falling down a wildflower rabbithole online), I’d say it’s a Symphyotrichum ericoides which is indeed part of the aster family. Formerly known as Aster ericoides, which is so much easier to pronounce!

TMI? Common name is Heath Aster or Frost Aster which works for me. Lovely by any name as it brightens up your autumn garden.

I hope this trip into the city is smooth and rewarding and your homecoming sweet!

Welcome!

Welcome!

I live in a little cottage in the country with my husband. It's a sweet place, sheltered by old trees and surrounded by gardens. The inside is full of the things we love. I love to write, I love my camera, I love creating, I love gardening. My decorating style is eclectic; full of vintage and a bit of whimsy.

I've worked in the theater for more years than I can count. I'm currently a voice, speech, dialect and text coach freelancing on Broadway, off Broadway, and in regional theater.

Thanks for stopping by.
