Baseball & the Beach

August 15, 2010 at 2:22 pm by Claudia

We had a great time at the Rays game on Friday night even though they lost. Our seats were great – just behind and to the left of home plate – about 8 rows back. It was “Turn Back the Clock Night” at the ballpark and all of the players had on 70’s era uniforms. Mer and I cheered, stood and watched every minute. The boys, on the other hand, ate. And ate. And ate.

My beautiful sister and her son and my nephew, Jake. He’s 13.

I wore a Rays t-shirt and my Red Sox cap. Just for a while.

This morning we went for a walk on the beach: my sister, brother-in-law and I. The water in the Gulf is so warm and such a beautiful shade of blue/green.

I found some wonderful seashells with the help of my sister. Here I am clutching my finds to my chest.

And my sister is holding a teeny-tiny shell.
I’m also spending a lot of time with my parents. My mom is very frail so I am treasuring this time with her, as well as with my father. I wish Don could be here, too, but he is holding down the fort back at home.

What great photos! It is nice to see you all together. And the sky and sea are beautiful shades of blue and green. So vibrant.
Last I looked, the Yankees were still a couple games ahead ;-)
Enjoy your time with your family.

There is nothing like family time. I am so glad you are having such a great time. Hug your sweet mom and stay close and listen to what she says. You will never regret it!
The ball game looked like fun! I miss seeing my Rockies in person. It has been a rough summer with the loss of my mother-in-law and all. Hugs Anne

You are in my old stomping grounds during my high school years! My parents lived in Dunedin, FL from 1974 until 2000, when they could no longer live on their own. I well remember those precious years when the roles were reversed and I was able to repay them for all the years they looked after me. Glad you got some fun time at the beach, the game and some special time with your parents. It’s difficult. Best wishes

    Claudia:
If you were down near Ft. Myers, they’d call your beach pose the “Sanibel Stoop”. That’s how everyone looks when they’re searching for the seashells on Sanibel’s beautiful beaches. I hope you found some good ones! I’m sure you’ll enjoy the rest of your trip. xoxo Donna

I’m glad you are getting to spend quality time with your family. i’m sorry that your mom is so frail. Prayers for you and her are going up as I type this. Family time is so very important. I’m getting in some great hugs from my almost 3 year old grand and giving them to her baby sister! My husband and my cousins have camped on Sanibel Island that Donna commented about. one cousin is in Ft. Myers.

Wow you had awesome seats at the baseball game! When I get back to the US, one day, if I am there at the right time of year, I’d love to go see a baseball game. Can’t get much more American than that, I imagine!

Sounds like you are having a lovely time. That beach looks heavenly! And I love how the baseball players were wearing “vintage” uniforms. Enjoy the time with your parents. How blessed you are to still have both of them.

    Good morning Claudia,

I’m so glad you’re having some great family time…….it’s sooooo important. I saw your article in the “Romantic Homes” magazine last night at the book store. How exciting, however, I was really hoping they did a spread on you and I’d get the chance to see all kinds of rooms in your house. Maybe you can post some for us.

    Love ya’
    Meri

Welcome!

Welcome!

I live in a little cottage in the country with my husband. It's a sweet place, sheltered by old trees and surrounded by gardens. The inside is full of the things we love. I love to write, I love my camera, I love creating, I love gardening. My decorating style is eclectic; full of vintage and a bit of whimsy.

I've worked in the theater for more years than I can count. I'm currently a voice, speech, dialect and text coach freelancing on Broadway, off Broadway, and in regional theater.

Thanks for stopping by.
