The Beach, Earthquakes & Mom

May 27, 2010 at 12:03 am by Claudia

Scenes from the beach:

There was quite a breeze and the water was choppy. I walked up and down the beach, taking photos, gathering shells, inhaling that clean, fresh ocean air. Note to self: get back there as soon as possible.

Did you know there was another earthquake on Tuesday evening? And, once again, I was sitting on the sofa. That brings the count to 3.

Mom is still in the hospital. Frankly, we don’t know what caused this incident. The doctors have said something about dehydration. I think that might be a factor along with her blood pressure or circulation. She was unconscious for about 10 minutes. Hopefully, she will be on her way home tomorrow but you know how it is in a hospital – so many different doctors and a lack of consistent communication. So we’re left with many questions.

My sister Meredith came up with perfect names again. Mrs. Koala will be Sydney and the baby will be Jasmine. Perfect, right?

Have a wonderful day.

Hope your mum feels better. Dehydration can cause b/p to bottom out…should improve with IV fluids…I am a RN. That is an easy fix. The beach phots are swell..you must go back.

Dear Claudia, I hope that your mom gets better soon. My mom has been quite ill and in and out of the hospital, too. I will pray for both of our moms to get better soon.

Oh my…..that ocean looks so inviting!! I can almost smell the cool breeze and hear the seagulls.

Stay off of that couch. It is bringing bad luck.

    Claudia! Earthquakes?? Yikes!

You hit the nail on the head regarding miscommunications and jumbled/lacking info when so many doctors are involved during a hospital stay – add to the the normal troubles with memory, etc. and it can just be so hard to piece together exactly what happened, what the diagnosis is, and what the plan of action will be when a parent ends up in the hospital.

PLEASE keep us posted on your mom!! (My dad has been hospitalized for dehydration a couple of times… they can turn it around fairly easily.). ;)

    Take care of yourself!

Thank you so much for bringing me the saltie smells of the ocean today. I miss the sound of the waves dearly. What better a place to say a prayer for your Mom’s quick return to health.

I heard about that quake all the way from a friend up in Seattle.

Claudia, I want you out of there SOON. When do you get to go home? I’m ready for you to be safe in New York. I know you are, too.

I just prayed for the doctors to have wisdom as well as for your mother’s healing. You need some good news there.

Love the Koala names. I had a bird named Sidney once, and she was a character! Hence, I like Sydney, and it works because its Australian. I have a fence loaded with Confederate Jasmine, and it is one of my favorite things. Hence Jasmine works for me!

    XO,

    Sheila :-)

Sitting here having a severe case of ‘beach envy’ after looking at your photos. More earthquakes? Must be aftershocks.

Hi Claudia…Great pictures of the beach….love to sit and watch the waves roll in and the tides go out. It’s been a long time since I did that…thanks for the memories! And thanks for visiting today for the Maytag post on VTT. Is this a small world or what? I was blown away with your comment about the Maytag Repairman…so very neat that your husband knew him as an actor. He was and still is an American Icon for Maytag…course the Wringer Washer has gone by the wayside and the WrinkleFree Washer and Dryer have really put the Repairman outta work! Hope things go well with your Mom!

    Hi Claudia,
your beach shots are fab! I can’t believe you’ve had another quake. I think that would scare me a little. Let’s hope it’s the last one for awhile.
I hope that they are able to get to the bottom of the issue with your mom. Ten minutes is a long time to be out.

I read your previous post, and I was going to tell you that I did away with word verification awhile ago and I haven’t had anymore spam than when I had it. I did set my older comments to be moderated, because that is where most of my problem with spam happens. I am trying to make it easier for those who would like to comment to do so. I know that when I go to someone’s blog, I love it when I see that they have there word verification turned off, it makes it easier for me.

Welcome!

Welcome!

I live in a little cottage in the country with my husband. It's a sweet place, sheltered by old trees and surrounded by gardens. The inside is full of the things we love. I love to write, I love my camera, I love creating, I love gardening. My decorating style is eclectic; full of vintage and a bit of whimsy.

I've worked in the theater for more years than I can count. I'm currently a voice, speech, dialect and text coach freelancing on Broadway, off Broadway, and in regional theater.

Thanks for stopping by.
