Between the Cracks

June 14, 2012 at 8:53 am by Claudia

My little volunteer impatiens are blooming! Yes, right there between the pavers on the funky patio where the usual volunteer is a dandelion, I get to see this delightful surprise. Don’t you love it when something unexpected bursts into bloom? Maybe it’s in a secret place in your garden or on your patio that only you can see. It makes the experience all the more special.

We’re having such a wonderful time with our visiting friends – old friends of many years standing, both in the theater – who now live in Toronto. They know us so well. We can just be ourselves with them, warts and all. The rainy weather broke into sun just as they arrived in town yesterday and today is equally beautiful. Scout and Riley are in heaven as our friends are true animal lovers and have been doting on both of them.

Meanwhile, the spirea and hydrangeas are blooming like crazy. I snuck outside yesterday and took some pictures of the garden.

It’s so nice to see the sun. Hope you’re having a wonderful day.

Happy Thursday.

Impatients are fabulous volunteers and I have some do that every year under our bay window which protects them from our heat I imagine. So glad you are enjoying your company. We are about to have a house full again. I am happy about it but still tired.

I love volunteer plants. In my garden I get so many periwinkles and they so ofen choose the cracks of the sidewalk. I let them stay just where they like to grow. Enjoy you company!

Have fun with your friends, Claudia. I’m absolutely amazed that impatiens seeded itself and grew for you this year in our northeast climate!!! Fairies must have sprinkled magic dust over your garden when you weren’t looking!

Wow, I wish I had some impatiens that would volunteer to winter over and bloom the next season! Aren’t they a sweet and cheering flower. :-)

Yes, I love it when volunteers like the beautiful impatiens pop up where they were not intended to be. They look wonderful there in the pavers. I never have had volunteer impatiens. I think it is too hot here. I have a hard time getting them to bloom even where they are planted.

    hi Claudia

Glad that you are having fun with friends – that’s what it’s all about. I read your last post about the posts etc. I agree – its all about time and what we choose to do with it. I read a lot through reader now and only comment when I can – I don’t feel as obligated as when I first started.

    Enjoy the weekend!

Hello Garden Girl! I’m so amazed at all your blooms! My white spirea is sparse this year. Do you give them some magic potion you want to share?

Welcome!

Welcome!

I live in a little cottage in the country with my husband. It's a sweet place, sheltered by old trees and surrounded by gardens. The inside is full of the things we love. I love to write, I love my camera, I love creating, I love gardening. My decorating style is eclectic; full of vintage and a bit of whimsy.

I've worked in the theater for more years than I can count. I'm currently a voice, speech, dialect and text coach freelancing on Broadway, off Broadway, and in regional theater.

Thanks for stopping by.
