Taken from the bus window: proof that spring has come to NYC.
These last two days have been exhausting. I was already suffering from lack of sleep, but Sunday night was the worst. A combination of me worrying about getting enough sleep and Don sleeping noisily (he’s sick, but he’s a noisy sleeper most of the time) was the problem. So I came downstairs to sleep on the sofa and I think I got less than 4 hours. It was a very, very long day in the city and I didn’t get home until 9:30 pm. I was so tired that I just took a bath and went to bed.
Yesterday, I had to get up at 5 am to get to a 10 am rehearsal call, so I was still operating on about 1 cylinder. Thankfully, I only had to be there for an hour, so I got home around 1 pm, whereupon I sat in my chair in a catatonic state and eventually took a nap. Last night, I had a better night’s sleep and I coach in the afternoon today. I will still have to leave fairly early due the weird bus schedule, so I’ll have to kill some time before rehearsal. I’ll be done by 5 and will hopefully get home by 7:30 pm, which means I can have some dinner with Don.
It changes every day.
Anyway, as I’ve always said, the coaching isn’t the problem; once I’m coaching, I’m in the zone and I love it. It’s the damn logistics of it all with so much travel every day.
I really haven’t had any time to do anything but commute, work, come home, sleep, and do it all again. So that means I don’t have time to answer your comments, but I do read them, my friends, and appreciate them.
Don has the equivalent of a bad head cold and he’s pretty miserable. I’m not feeling tip top either, but we’ll get through it.
The cast is very nice, as is the support staff; stage managers, director, etc. We have a lot to do in a very short amount of time, but that’s okay. I work best under a wee bit of pressure.
I’ll try to get some more egg cup pictures when I can. Do you want to see my more traditional egg cups? Some of them are quite pretty. Let me know.
Stay safe.
Happy Wednesday.

Your schedule sounds grueling, I’m tired just hearing about it. No wonder you don’t feel great physically!
Always yes on the egg cups!

That does sound like an exhausting schedule, but you have a good perspective on it all…it will get done! Nice to see the Spring blossoms! I look forward to seeing you egg cups! Hope you and Don are both feeling better….take care…

Glad you are catching up a bit on the sleep you need. Your work weeks will zoom by and when your are done, you will be happy to have the time to enjoy Spring around your lovely home. Hope Don feels better soon.

your schedule sounds both exhausting (long days, varying times) and exciting (doing work that you enjoy and at which you excel). hope you sleep better tonight and that you and don both feel better soon! (have you both tested for the thing we’re all so very tired of, just in case?)
glad you found evidence of spring in nyc … and hopefully do at home, too!
i hope you post what and when you want, but to answer your question about the egg cups, i think they are so sweet and i enjoy learning their history so yes, i’d like to see more egg cups, if you like. please and thanks.
getting signed up for my medicare supplemental health insurance and part d plans today. taxes will be done on april 06 … first time ever using a professional for that (for having a more complicated return and mostly for making a mistake last year that meant i didn’t get my federal refund until earlier this month … yikes!). will be glad when those things are done.
i mentioned the idea of getting a bookcase made. that’s not feeling likely as no one in the local woodworking association has called back. there’s a beautiful china cabinet in my parents’ basement that i can use, but to hire a mover would be very expensive. i understand them charging for travel time to/from their office, but they require a two-hour minimum, the distance from my parents’ home to my place is less than ten miles (another ten back to their office) and it would cost me close to $400.00! so … i am again re-thinking options and going through my books.
on a more exciting note, even though i am not into basketball at all, the university of iowa women’s team has made the “final four” in playoffs and play friday night to hopefully get to the championship game (and win it on sunday)! feels good to hear the buzz and happiness in conversations and on the news. go, hawkeyes!
for now, though, i need to get ready for the insurance meeting.
hope you, don and everyone else are having a good day. stay safe!

Go IA State! Thanks for mentioning it, Kathy. My parents were alums so my ears perk up when the school is mentioned. So happy also for SDState men. My alma mater.

Hope Don feels better soon.
I wonder if he has ever been tested for sleep apnea.
Maybe that is why he is a noisy sleeper.
Just a thought.
Hang in there it is almost over.

I hope Don feels better soon and you do not get sick.
What a tiring travel schedule! I’m glad you were able to spot a bit of spring this morning.
Have fun coaching! You are in such an incredible occupation.
Stay calm and safe. :)

Your schedule sounds exhausting, but yet invigorating, and rewarding. Hope you don’t catch Don’s cold.
And always…yes to the egg cups. The pic of buds and blooms gives me hope, that spring will come eventually to all of us. Enjoy your day! ;)

Commuting so hard. You will get through it. Yes to more egg cups and I love the traditional one’s also.

Don’t worry on comments — we all know what you are experiencing and it sounds exhausting. But with good, fulfilling work, which is at least some consolation.
The blooms are pretty. We’re getting a bit of snow-spit today but it won’t last. And yes, more egg cups! Bring ’em on!

Yes, please on more pictures of the egg cups. I hope you don’t get the cold and that Don is feeling better soon.

You’ve certainly had a busy few days. Hope you can make it an early night tonight. You’ll be so glad when the weekend comes. Hope Don feels better soon. Yes, please keep those egg cups coming. I think they are such charming little things each with their own story to tell. Hugs, Elaine

I love any and all cups of yours; do what’s easiest when you are ‘way too busy; feel for ya, with all this travel/commuting. Hope both you and Don get good rest soon.

I love your egg cup tour. It’s extra work for you so you do what’s best for you. I know you are in the city exclusively for work but spring in NYC would be a dream!
I hope Don feels better soon and you are able to rest/sleep. It’s about 65 degrees here and we’ve been out working in the yard since earlier this morning. Spring anywhere is great!

For sure more egg cups when you are up to doing so. What an exhausting schedule!! Are you able to sleep on the bus? I would worry I would fall asleep and end up at the “end of the line”. You have such an adventurous and can-do attitude!! Do you work over the weekend?
On a personal note, I was released from Occupational Therapy today!! Two weeks remain with Physical Therapy. What a long road this has been. The fact that Spring has nearly arrived helps with my attitude for sure. Safe travels & take care!

Absolutely would love to see more egg cups! I’m loving them. I hope both you and Don get some good sleep to help you with your schedule and help him feel better!
Take care

Absolutely love the egg cups! I have a few egg cups myself. I have one wooden one of a little black haired girl with a red polka dot dress with a white collar. No writing on it at all, but it’s one of my favorites. Sounds like your work is very interesting, but the commute is a killer! Stay strong.

Also hoping you miss catching Don’s cold. Daughter in CT went thru a hard two weeks with something viral & nasty. I tried to get her to go to an urgent care for an RSV test. No luck with that. Just diligent effort has finally started to force it out of her. Hope Don’s leaves him soon.
Another whirlwind you are on & so fun to hear about. Happy for you that you got another have gig. Best to you on the traveling.
Voting YES on egg cups. I love them, too, but as others have said, no need to overdo it – whatever you have time for will be such a pleasure to see.
Bonne route XOXO
