Butterflies, Bees & A Little Adventure

August 9, 2021 at 9:40 am by Claudia

This little one was hanging around the garden all afternoon. He/she was quite skittish, so capturing this shot was a little miracle. He was on the small side – did he just emerge from his chrysalis? Last year’s adventures with a chrysalis were rare as they are almost always hidden somewhere on the property. I always check the bottom of the birdbath, just in case another caterpillar has decided to use that spot for his transformation. Nothing yet.

It was a gorgeous day yesterday and we are blessed with another gorgeous day today. After so much rain, this run of dry, sunny days is most welcome.

We’re going to take a drive today, headed north on the thruway to Hudson, NY. We went to Hudson, if you remember, to register Don’s ‘new’ car. Hudson is a charming old town, known for its antique shops. I had the chance to go in one while we were waiting to enter the DMV. But there’s a lot more to explore there and today seems to be the perfect day for it.

Congratulate me. I managed to talk Don into this little excursion today. Usually, he has something else he wants to do. By the way, he said he’d be willing to drive three hours to get that dollhouse but he wasn’t too enthused. I’m still thinking about it. I’m not sure if that particular house is the one I want…but I am in communication with the seller. And three hours one way seems daunting.

Heavens, the Olympics were just what we needed in this time of insanity. I’ll miss watching them. So grateful for all the stories and triumphs and tears and joy. Amazing.

Okay, my friends. I have to get moving.

Stay safe.

Happy Monday.

If the dollhouse is a Beacon Hill, Don says he’ll go with you and you want it, go for it. I have been looking at dollhouse listings for about two years and have only seen one Beacon Hill. I spoke with a woman who sells and also rehabs old houses . She said she rarely sees a BH and when she does they’re pricey. Hit the road !

I think I’m going to go for it, Barbara. Thanks for this valuable input. I may not get another chance at one!

      Stay safe, my friend.

You were so excited when you got the Beacon Hill. Are you sure you don’t have the space? Well, I know you don’t but ‘when there’s a will there’s a way.’
Maybe you will stumble on the perfect house on your adventure today. Wouldn’t that be awesome!
If not, go get the one 3 hours away. It could be a nice day trip. Find somewhere fun to stop along the way.
Anyway, have a fun day today….I’m sure you will find a treasure or two.
    Stay safe

It’s not that I don’t have the space for the house itself; I don’t have the space in which to store lots of pieces and matierials while I build one. That’s why I’m looking for one that’s already built.

      Thanks, Marilyn.

      Stay safe.

Perhaps you will determine that you can make space for your doll house…you were so so excited…Of course, this is coming from a minimalist who has nothing unless it is usable…this happens when one is elderly…have a good day today with your darling spouse…Florida is gorgeous and with air conditioning, I have lived so many places, weather just does not bother me…take care…keep writing…I hope you discuss some of your favorite books really soon.

It’s not about making space for the dollhouse, Brenda. It’s about not having the space in which to build it as these houses have tons of components and I can’t just leave things out in our shared space while I build it. We don’t have a garage, basement or attic.

I think driving for the dollhouse is what you should do! There is just something about rehabbing something that is special!

I think that’s what we might end up doing. Waiting to hear back from the seller.

      Thanks, Jane.

I just stood there and zoomed in. He was really into the phlox and lingered while he explored each blossom, so it wasn’t hard.

      Thanks, Linda.

I hope your excursion was as delightful as you hoped it would be. It sounds like a wonderful and fun town and a good day to explore! You’ve worked darned hard of late and you deserve a break!

It was lovely, but really, really hot, which tired us out in the end. Still, we are very happy we went there.

      Stay safe, Jeanie.

oh, those happy colors! and a healthy-looking bee is wonderful to see. :)

hope the trip to hudson and back home and everything in between was safe and lots of fun for you and don! sounds like a great place to visit.

wondering what you decided to do about the dollhouse. am sure you will go with your heart and that’s a good thing … just have fun, whatever the project.

extra-busy day here, but got quite a bit done and that feels good. even better was getting to visit with members of my family (socially-distanced) and now being home. :)

hope everyone has a nice night and stays safe.

I’m seriously considering getting it. I ran it by Don again this morning and he doesn’t seem to mind (or at least that’s what he says to me) driving there and back. It needs work, but I’m up to it, I think. Better than building the whole thing from scratch. Anyway, I’m waiting to hear back from the seller.

      Stay safe, Kathy.

Welcome!

Welcome!

I live in a little cottage in the country with my husband. It's a sweet place, sheltered by old trees and surrounded by gardens. The inside is full of the things we love. I love to write, I love my camera, I love creating, I love gardening. My decorating style is eclectic; full of vintage and a bit of whimsy.

I've worked in the theater for more years than I can count. I'm currently a voice, speech, dialect and text coach freelancing on Broadway, off Broadway, and in regional theater.

Thanks for stopping by.
