Stray Kitten and Advice, Please?

August 27, 2009 at 11:21 am by Claudia

I heard mewing this morning while I was blogging – loud, plaintive mewing coming from the area beside the porch. I went out to investigate and after searching found this little one hiding in amongst the plants. Just a baby…we’re unsure what to do…any ideas? We placed some water, milk and wet dog food out because she was so hungry. (We’ll definitely go buy some kitten food.) She’s very skittish and won’t come to us. But she is definitely hanging around.

We can’t take her in because Scout hates cats – and I am allergic. Should we try to catch her and take her to a shelter? I’m afraid for her out here in the country with no protection. She’s about 5 or 6 inches long – I have no idea what age that indicates.

Don said maybe she’ll adopt us and be an outdoor cat. But I hate the thought of her being unprotected – we live on a busy road.

She’s adorable. I’d love any advice. We don’t know a lot about cats, but we love animals.

Life on the Porch

July 15, 2009 at 9:53 am by Claudia

Just a few scenes from the porch – we spend a lot of time out here in the summer – reading and watching the world go by.

Look who is also living on our property – I’ve seen these two fawns twice now. They are quite brave. The first time I saw them, I looked up from working in the kitchen to see one of them staring in the window at me. The little thing seemed shocked at the sight of me. The photo is blurry because I had to shoot through the window. They are absolutely beautiful, nonetheless.

Welcome!

Welcome!

I live in a little cottage in the country with my husband. It's a sweet place, sheltered by old trees and surrounded by gardens. The inside is full of the things we love. I love to write, I love my camera, I love creating, I love gardening. My decorating style is eclectic; full of vintage and a bit of whimsy.

I've worked in the theater for more years than I can count. I'm currently a voice, speech, dialect and text coach freelancing on Broadway, off Broadway, and in regional theater.

Thanks for stopping by.
