Happy Easter

April 12, 2009 at 10:27 am by Claudia

Happy Easter everyone! I hope your day is filled with family, good food, and fun. We are having dinner with friends, but before that I am spreading more mulch on the garden. Scout has been a bit under the weather and we are waiting for test results on Tuesday. The sun is shining today and that is a blessing!

Here is the rescued bird nest in its McCoy planter – all safe and sound.

More later.

Egg Cups

April 9, 2009 at 6:19 pm by Claudia

I have a collection of vintage egg cups that I love. They are mostly figural, decorated with little bunnies, ducks, and chicks. I never buy anything new; they have to be vintage and many of them were won on Ebay. I thought I’d share a few with you, because isn’t Easter the best time for egg cups? My impulse to collect these started with one single egg cup given to me by my dear godparents when I was a little girl. Sadly, one of my godparents, Nick, died this past year. This little cup was manufactured for Fannie Farmer as an Easter treat.

I hung onto this egg cup for years (I won’t say how many) until I read an article on collecting egg cups and realized that I could find more of these little gems. I bid on this rooster and chick egg cup in the middle of the night – I was determined to get it.

This little rabbit is holding up the egg – it looks heavy.

Mother and baby.

It takes two rabbits to hold this egg up!

These sweeties are playing on a teeter-totter!

This is one of my favorites – I love the Painter Bunny with his easel and decorated egg.

There is a playful quality about these egg cups that I just adore.

There are many more, but these are the most appropriate for Easter. Speaking of Easter Eggs, I was at it again:

I promise, that’s it with the fabric eggs – at least for this year.

This and That

March 26, 2009 at 1:21 pm by Claudia

Thought I’d post a few more photos from the Barn Sale that didn’t make it into the first post. Love this birdcage on wheels – oh, if only I lived in a bigger house! My friend Donna would love this.

This sweet corner shelf was so charming, especially with the lace draped over it.

I want this birdhouse…but then there are many things I wanted at this sale.

These are fabric Easter eggs I am in the midst of sewing. Unfortunately, I am having problems with the tension on the Featherweight, so they are on hold until my friend, Ingrid, can stop by and help me out. I haven’t finished stuffing these – they need more Poly-fil – but I love the look of them. In my next post, I’ll give the link to the tutorial for these little cuties.

I have a full day ahead with classes, coaching, a faculty meeting and more coaching. Bye for now.

Welcome!

Welcome!

I live in a little cottage in the country with my husband. It's a sweet place, sheltered by old trees and surrounded by gardens. The inside is full of the things we love. I love to write, I love my camera, I love creating, I love gardening. My decorating style is eclectic; full of vintage and a bit of whimsy.

I've worked in the theater for more years than I can count. I'm currently a voice, speech, dialect and text coach freelancing on Broadway, off Broadway, and in regional theater.

Thanks for stopping by.
