Rivers, Spring, Scout and Scarves

March 20, 2012 at 8:27 am by Claudia

I live on one side of the Hudson River. Trader Joe’s is on the other side, far enough away that it’s in a different state. Today, I’m crossing the spectacular Hudson River, over this very bridge, on a quick run to TJ’s. The cupboards are bare, my friends.

I need to take a one day break from rock lifting. I started to clean out the garden beds yesterday and saw lots of little green things springing out of the ground. Ah, spring. What is it about it that lifts my mood? Despite all the stress and the worries, I find my overall mood is much lighter, much happier. And the weather has been so beautiful. Believe me, those of us in the Northeast do not take this unseasonably warm weather for granted. No, we bask in it, we play, we garden, we run around with smiles on our faces!

Miss Scoutie on our walk. This girl is love and spirit and joy and fun. She’s 13. She plays like she’s 3.  Every morning she greets me with a smile on her face, happy and excited and playful and ready for a brand new day. How can I not smile and be equally joyful, even though I am far from a morning person? She’s my teacher. So is Riley. I learn from them every day.

There’s that heart on her side. I love my little girl.

Two new scarves are in the shop, if you’re interested. One is in that gorgeous shade of green; I call it apple green or spring green. The other is in a shade of taupe that I’ve fallen in love with. The perfect neutral for your wardrobe. Both are light-as-a-feather blends of bamboo.

I’m experimenting with a larger size photo in my posts. Are they too large or do you like them this way?

Have a wonderful Tuesday.

Scarves and Rocks on a Sunny Thursday

March 15, 2012 at 9:00 am by Claudia

Sssh! Don’t tell anyone, but I snuck outside on this beautiful day to show you how great the scarves look with a T-shirt and jeans. That pop of color is fabulous! These scarves are so much fun. If you’re down in the dumps or in a bad mood, put one on. I guarantee your mood will change for the better.

Thanks for all the support of our shop. We are thrilled and humbled. I have more ideas up my sleeve and hope to bring them to you soon. Remember, if you want a special order, drop me an email. I’ve done several of them already and I know Meredith will be happy to fill a special order, as well.

Because of the shop and everything I have to do before I leave for Hartford in April, I’ve been unable to visit everyone as much as I usually do. When I have a pocket of time, I try to stop by your blogs but I’m not always able to leave a comment. I promise to try and remedy that as soon as I can.

The weather here has been simply glorious.  It’s very warm for March and I’m loving every minute of it. The windows are open, there’s a lovely breeze, the sun is shining. Oh my.

Today? More ‘rock lifting’ as I call it. And work on The Tempest. On Friday I have to go into Manhattan to work with a private client. And suddenly, another week will have gone by. Is it just me or does time seem to go by more quickly these days?

I have two posts today. Scroll down for my book review of The Dispatcher and the chance to win a free copy of this edge-of-your-seat thriller. If you’re interested, remember that you have to leave a comment on the book review post.

Have a great Thursday.

Shop Update

March 12, 2012 at 12:27 pm by Claudia

Warning: Blatant plug for Etsy shop ahead.

I’ve spent the last couple of days crocheting, taking photographs and listing new inventory in ScoutHarper, our Etsy Shop. It’s time consuming, but it’s awfully fun. I’m so excited to share with you our new Flower Scarves.

These beauties are made out of 100% cotton – which means they can be worn year round – indoors or outdoors. They can be looped around the neck or worn as pictured. Meredith gets more compliments on this scarf than anything else she has made. People stop her in stores and ask about it. How can you not smile when wearing this:

Not that I care about these things, but isn’t this orange the color of the year?

I love these scarves.

When you buy something from our shop, it comes in a pretty package (hand wrapped by yours truly.) Barbara, who bought one of the Obsession Scarves, even wrote a post about it, which made me very happy. We have great feedback from our customers – it’s so rewarding to read that customers are happy with our creations.

Also in the shop are 3 new Obsession Scarves (with more coming.) One is in silk and bamboo, and the other two are in a bamboo blend, which is very lightweight (perfect for spring and summer) and baby soft.

That deep, rich purple on the right is a color I used to wear all the time, along with red and black. I look good in jewel tones – but now that my hair is grayer, I find I can wear other colors as well. Anyway, I say that because I want a scarf in all three of these colors. As well as all the flower scarves.

But they are for others to enjoy. If you’re interested in reading more about the new inventory, go to the sidebar and click on any of the photos in the Etsy widget or click on ScoutHarper at the bottom of the widget.

Have a wonderful Monday. I’m going on about 3 hours of sleep, so I may have just hit my peak for the day!

Welcome!

Welcome!

I live in a little cottage in the country with my husband. It's a sweet place, sheltered by old trees and surrounded by gardens. The inside is full of the things we love. I love to write, I love my camera, I love creating, I love gardening. My decorating style is eclectic; full of vintage and a bit of whimsy.

I've worked in the theater for more years than I can count. I'm currently a voice, speech, dialect and text coach freelancing on Broadway, off Broadway, and in regional theater.

Thanks for stopping by.
