Bragging About My Talented Friends

April 20, 2011 at 6:58 pm by Claudia

Two of my friends are creating a stir in the blogiverse. I want to share their achievements with you.

First up: One of my dearest blogging friends, Brenda, of Cozy Little House, has started something wonderful – Cozy Little Shoppes.

What are Cozy Little Shoppes? Brenda has always wanted to promote cottage industries. Many bloggers have their own shops, be they Etsy shops or some other virtual form of shop. If you’re a shop owner and decide to be part of this, your shop button will reside permanently on Brenda’s sidebar. Brenda has a very popular blog and gets a lot of traffic. It is a wonderful way to advertise your particular cottage industry. When someone reading Brenda’s blog clicks on your button, she will be taken directly to your site.

She will also have a separate Cozy Little Shoppes page on her blog where she will include a short bio and information about your business. Not only that, Brenda will advertise Cozy Little Shoppes on various venues. She’s already started to advertise on the Flea Market Style blog. She will also highlight each new shop on her very popular Welcome Wagon Friday post.

The cost of subscribing is very reasonable. You can access all that information by clicking this link.

This is a labor of love for Brenda. She really wants to help empower shop owners. It is all about promoting wonderful cottage industries run by very creative women. She is also not above bartering for your subscriptions – maybe a giveaway from your merchandise for her readers?

I know that someday when my sister and I get our shop up and running, I will definitely take advantage of Cozy Little Shoppes. Stop by and visit Brenda – go on, you’ll be happy you did.

And now my friend, Elyse, of Cottage. Elyse is also a dear friend. Not only is she wonderfully creative – she has a shop called Tinkered Treasures – but she is a very talented writer.

Perhaps you’ve heard of Romantic Country magazine? Have you glanced at the Summer 2011 edition?

(Forgive the glare – this is my copy and the lamp is on!)

There is story inside about an adorable cottage entitled Tiffany Blue. I wonder who wrote it?

Gasp! Elyse!

I’m so thrilled for her. She deserves this. If you follow Elyse’s blog you know she loves wordplay – she has a delicious sense of fun in her writing. You’ll love her writing style.

Congratulations to both my talented friends!

Overdue Thank Yous

March 8, 2011 at 10:11 am by Claudia

This bouquet looks so pretty on our kitchen table. Don sent me these flowers for Opening Night.  I said to him, “They’re pink!” He replied, “Of course. I asked for pink flowers.” I think he gets me.  Ah, flowers. I dream of them, of Spring, of working in my garden once more.

I have been fortunate to receive some lovely presents in the mail and I am long overdue in acknowledging them. The play and its demands took over my life for a while. My sincere apologies! I won a giveaway from Sandy Babb at Quill Cottage. Sandy is a gifted artist. I am a devoted reader of her blog where she shares her life and her creative process with us. She has the most wonderful studio. This is what I won – made by Sandy, of course.

That exquisite pink baby shoe was created by Sandy. I hope you can see the detail. Sigh. I am in awe. She also made the tag, with a sweet bootie attached. It says “Snow” by the way, not ‘now.’

Signed by Sandy. And it came in this box. Perfect for a lamb and sheep lover like me.

Thank you so much, Sandy!

I won a giveaway at Nan E’s Bubbles of Joy. The Valentine’s Day theme is an indication of how late I am in posting this! Nan sent along all these goodies. That is Nan’s original artwork on the right.

Thank you so much, Nan! You are a talented artist, indeed. I am honored to have one of your creations.

A friend of mine ordered a copy of Don’s CD. That sweetie sent something along for me:

Lace! And a sweet angel. Thank you so much!

Thank you friends for these lovely presents. What a lucky girl I am!

I’m feeling slightly better today. Still stuffy and coughing, but better. The snow is melting around here and I can actually see grass. We had a big old rainstorm on Sunday and the sump pump in the basement was working overtime. We’re supposed to have another big rain on Thursday. Hopefully, it will banish the rest of the snow. Spring…are we there yet?

I’m behind in visiting everyone – hopefully I can catch up in the next few days.

Studios

February 20, 2011 at 4:04 pm by Claudia

Just a little reminder that Studios magazine comes out this week. It isn’t in my Barnes & Noble yet, but I did see it in a magazine shop in Manhattan. I thought I’d give you a peek at the first page. I wrote the article (I guess I have a magazine writing credit now!) and took the photos. Husband took the one of me. There are photos of my bookcase and the vintage cabinet I added recently, as well as some fabric in one of my Chinese nesting baskets. Sadly, Letitia had to be moved out of this shot or she would have blocked the view of the sewing nook. She was upset until she realized that she really needs her own article – why share the spotlight?

Some of you have sweetly written to tell me that you now have a copy of the magazine. I’m so glad you like my little feature. Thank you dear friends, as always, for your generous well-wishes and support. What would I do without you? What would I do without blogging? Quite frankly, I wouldn’t have been featured in Romantic Homes or Studios if I hadn’t started this blog 3 years ago. 3 years ago this past week, as a matter of fact. My blog anniversary was on February 17th. Well over 600 posts later, I love blogging more than ever. The generosity and kindness I have found in this blogging world fills me with gratitude. Would I have kept tweaking my studio without the daily inspiration I get from all of you? I doubt it. And so many of the treasures that fill that space were gifts from you.

Isn’t it wonderful to have a group of friends that are right there for you? Who aren’t bored when you want to show something wonderful you’ve found at a flea market? Who love to see photos of your home and garden? Who don’t mind (or at least are polite enough not to say so) seeing endless photos of your pets? Who get you? I tell you all: you inspire me to try new things, to be daring, to take a chance, to see the beauty that surrounds me, to be a better photographer and writer – and to share it all with you.

Thank you.

Welcome!

Welcome!

I live in a little cottage in the country with my husband. It's a sweet place, sheltered by old trees and surrounded by gardens. The inside is full of the things we love. I love to write, I love my camera, I love creating, I love gardening. My decorating style is eclectic; full of vintage and a bit of whimsy.

I've worked in the theater for more years than I can count. I'm currently a voice, speech, dialect and text coach freelancing on Broadway, off Broadway, and in regional theater.

Thanks for stopping by.
