Keep Calm

July 8, 2009 at 9:31 am by Claudia

I arrived at the Cottage at close to midnight on Monday – a long day of flying on very little sleep. My body clock is geared for the West Coast and I am now on the East Coast. Trying to sleep normal hours will take a few days. I went outside yesterday to pull some weeds and the thunder and lightning began. Not only did it storm, but lightning hit our house. Let me tell you, that was more than a bit scary. Now we have no phones (I think the lightning went right through the phone lines) and for quite a while we thought our nice flat screen television had been damaged. Miraculously, it seemed to correct itself later in the evening.

So the day was spent trying to call the cable company about the phones on our cell phones, which don’t work all that well out here in the country. We have an ongoing saga about a cell tower in our little town. Do I feel rested? NO. But I am home with husband and dogs and that is wonderful.

And I was surprised by my lovely friends last night. They came over with pizza, fruit salad, cake and root beer floats to welcome me home. I couldn’t have had a nicer evening.

A Beach Interlude

May 21, 2009 at 7:59 pm by Claudia

My schedule has been erratic while Don has been visiting, but we did manage a few hours at the beach today. He also went on his own earlier in the week, but we always have a visit together. After all, we met on this beach while attending a Fourth of July party. It is very special to us. As always, once I am walking on the beach, breathing in that ocean breeze, I feel my shoulders dropping and I relax.

Tonight is opening night for one of the plays I have been coaching. That’s 1 down, 3 to go. Don leaves early, and I mean early, tomorrow morning. I expect I will be sad and a bit down. The weekend will be full of run-throughs for the 3 plays, so I shall be busy and that will most certainly help. As of next Monday, I have but 6 weeks to go before I head home.

Pink Saturday

May 16, 2009 at 2:06 am by Claudia

Do you remember my earlier PS post about Scout’s ears and how pink they become when the sun was behind her? Well, I knew I had a photo somewhere of her with her really, really pink ears and I found it yesterday. Without further ado, Scout and her neon pink ears!

Let’s see, what else for this Pink Saturday? I found a frame for my Christie Repasy painting at an antique mall – I think the gold nicely sets off the beautiful pink roses.

This week the pink flower is Alstromeria ~ one of my favorites to put in a vase because they last so long.

This week I am in rehearsals on Saturday and Sunday ~ and my husband is here ~ but never fear, I will stop by your blogs. Please visit Beverly and see all the Pink Saturday posts.

Welcome!

Welcome!

I live in a little cottage in the country with my husband. It's a sweet place, sheltered by old trees and surrounded by gardens. The inside is full of the things we love. I love to write, I love my camera, I love creating, I love gardening. My decorating style is eclectic; full of vintage and a bit of whimsy.

I've worked in the theater for more years than I can count. I'm currently a voice, speech, dialect and text coach freelancing on Broadway, off Broadway, and in regional theater.

Thanks for stopping by.
