Blog Stress

March 7, 2025 at 8:42 am by Claudia

Just thought I’d show you the contrast. The girls have the same OB22 body, but the head sizes are very different.

Jessie’s head is pretty close in size to a Blythe head. Obviously, Ruby’s is much smaller.

I love this brown hair, dark eyed look. I’m always drawn to it. I suppose that’s because I have the same color combination. Or had. It’s now gray hair and dark eyes. Sigh. I miss my brown hair.

Okay. Wednesday was rather insane in terms of the blog. I posted fairly early in the morning. As time went by, I noticed I had no comments, which isn’t the norm. Finally, around noon, I tried leaving a comment and I kept getting a message: This site has a critical error.  Okay.  I tried the usual things; disabling the plugins to see if there was a conflict, then turning them back on, one by one. Nope. Still had the error. Tried rebooting the site. Nope. Finally, I called my host and a technician fixed it – I’m not sure what he did. But then he said he had run a scan and the site had been hacked (infected with malware.) I was stunned. This has never happened in the time I’ve been with a server and that’s been at least 13 years. He sent me a copy of the files that were altered. The only thing I’d done differently lately was insert some YouTube videos, so I wondered if that had introduced some malware on the backend, because I’m notified if someone manages to sign in to my site and I knew that hadn’t occurred. So I contacted my security company and they ran a check and said they’d cleaned it up. But their response was their standard response and I wanted to know exactly what had been done. So I asked them for more information. In the meantime, I removed all the YouTube videos and edited the posts to include my channel name on YouTube and the name of each video I highlighted, so that readers would have the information and be able to watch the videos on YouTube itself.

The next day, I received a message from another technician and he said he had investigated it thoroughly and the files had not been infected with malware, there had been no hack. It was just a false positive.

Obviously, I was greatly relieved! But it was a crazy 24 hours and it showed in Wednesday’s post, as I kept going back and editing it to let you know what was happening.

Moving forward, I will post a link in the future that will take you directly to my YouTube channel. I think that will work out. Better safe than sorry.

You can see why keeping this blog going is expensive. I pay a yearly fee for the hosting company, a yearly fee for my main security company, a fee for a company to back up my blog posts, so I don’t lose them – and there’s more. But, when something goes wrong, I’m very grateful they’re there.

Today, we are in the middle of yet another “Wind Advisory.” You know how I feel about that. Spring, please get here. I’ve had it with this nonsense.

Trying to maintain my sanity.

Stay safe.

Happy Friday.

Self Care and Spring is Around the Corner

March 3, 2025 at 9:02 am by Claudia

Lucy was created in Ukraine. She wanted to let you know that she and her sisters and animal friends support her home country, just as all of you do.

Slava Ukraini!

And remember the Ides of March.

We deliberately tried to slow down and go in self-protection mode over the weekend and we’re going to do the same thing today. There’s something to be said for hunkering down in our little cottage – our safe space. It was quite cold and windy yesterday as a cold front came through. But it will go above freezing today and the rest of this week and next week will be warmer. Have we turned a corner? Oh, please, I hope so! We really need that.

I found myself thinking of the peepers which herald the beginning of spring around here. So I just checked my IG to see when they reappeared last year – it was on March 14th. Whoo hoo! In less than two weeks, we should hear them. It’s will still be a long time until I can do anything outside, but the promise of spring is enough for now.

It’s sunny today, I just made our second cup of coffee, Don made an apple pie on Saturday and we’re going to enjoy another piece later today. I don’t have a puzzle on hand, but I’ll find something to do today. Maybe something as simple as reading.

I am somewhat obsessed with making videos of my collections. I don’t know exactly why – they’re simple little collections, after all. I guess I want to show them off just a little, even if my audience is very small. It’s probably connected to this time of life. I haven’t done a whole lot of adding to my collections lately because I think I’ve got enough. I will probably add an egg cup or two, but that’s about it. I’ve contemplated selling more bits and pieces on Etsy, but I’ve already done some of that and I don’t want to part with anything else at the moment.

Anyway, I posted Part 1 of the egg cup collection on Friday, so you can scroll down to that post to see my first video. And I’ll post the next two egg cup videos here.

My voice is a little faint on Part 3. Don’t know why!

Coming up on Wednesday, a video tour of Hummingbird Cottage.

Stay safe.

Happy Monday.

The Real Hero

March 1, 2025 at 8:43 am by Claudia

I don’t know what to say.

The debacle that took place yesterday was as shameful as it gets. Disgusting. I couldn’t watch it all because I knew I would explode. Don did – more power to him.

They act like they’re in the Mafia. You’re supposed to ‘thank’ him? For what??? For being an asshole, a traitor, and a Russian asset? They treated a world leader – a hero, mind you – like he was beneath them. This was for an audience of one – their Master.

In just about 30 days, we have become a pariah.

I didn’t sleep well last night, so I am not as articulate as I’d like to be at this moment.

The truth is that it backfired on them. They look like the weak, petty little bullies they are.

May they rot in (fill in the blank.)

I’ll post another couple of videos on Monday. It doesn’t seem appropriate right now.

Hang in there. Implosion is coming – it’s already begun.

Stay safe, my friends.

Happy Saturday.

Welcome!

Welcome!

I live in a little cottage in the country with my husband. It's a sweet place, sheltered by old trees and surrounded by gardens. The inside is full of the things we love. I love to write, I love my camera, I love creating, I love gardening. My decorating style is eclectic; full of vintage and a bit of whimsy.

I've worked in the theater for more years than I can count. I'm currently a voice, speech, dialect and text coach freelancing on Broadway, off Broadway, and in regional theater.

Thanks for stopping by.
