Hair Cuts & Body Changes

July 2, 2023 at 9:14 am by Claudia

I mowed the corral and the back forty yesterday, with sunglasses and a mask on. Nevertheless, my eyes are irritated this morning. Thankfully, the air quality is back to normal as of today. So, you’d think I could run outside and do lots of stuff today, but no, it’s raining again and will storm this afternoon.

Ah well.

I trimmed Nina’s hair yesterday. It was just too long – all the way to the ground and then some. I’d been thinking about it for a while.

Then, for the 100th time, I had problems standing her up in the cabinet. The Obitsu 22 body I’d given her when she arrived here is very lightweight, so the heaviness of her hair – even with two inches taken off – would tilt her forward and I didn’t want her falling from the top shelf.  I decided to switch her back to her Obitsu 24 body (the one she came with.) It’s 2 centimeters taller and seems to be a bit heavier.

And little Olivia, the last of the girls still in a Licca body (I do not like them) got an OB 22 body and joints and she can now tilt her head!

First official head tilt.

You look great, Livvy!

I may change out some eye chips out today. The surgery is open all weekend long.

I sort of miss Olivia being the tiniest of the girls, but darn it, she deserves a head tilt and body flexibility!

Except for some minor eye surgery, today will be reading day. I have to catch up on War and Peace, as well as read a chunk of Babel, which is getting very interesting.

Stay safe.

Happy Sunday.

Pondering

May 21, 2023 at 8:51 am by Claudia

More fleabane. It’s everywhere, and it’s so pretty. I love how the initial bud is a lavender color and then, when it opens, it’s white.

Trying to figure out if I want to transfer things from my now defunct laptop to my new laptop. I do have a backup which would allow me to do that, but it’s complicated because I would only want to copy a few things and that might be impossible to do. But I realized this morning that I don’t have the printer software on this computer – not that I use it very much – and I also don’t have Microsoft Word. My particular version of that is quite old – so does this mean I have to just bite the bullet and get a new version? Sigh. Again – I don’t use it that much anymore, but I’m doing a session with one of the actresses from A Man of No Importance tomorrow and all of a sudden I’m reminded of these things.

Time to retire? I don’t know.

Of course, I also need to remember that I can use Don’s laptop with the software already on it. I may do that until I figure out what to do.

I am really enjoying a relatively clean, clutter-free laptop and I know it will get a bit more cluttered over time, but I would really like to keep it this way.

Unlike my home. But that’s another story.

Olivia changed her clothes the other day. She’s ready for Spring.

Stay safe.

Happy Sunday.

Puzzles, Olivia, & The Hearing

July 12, 2022 at 9:21 am by Claudia

Having so much fun with this one: Alice’s Wonderland. It’s made by the same company that does all of the “World of…” puzzles. They’re always beautifully illustrated and the quality of the pieces is excellent. I may finish today, but then again, with the hearing this afternoon, I may not.

Don’s eye doctor had delayed his original appointment because he was going to be on vacation. It had been rescheduled for the end of this month, but his eye was beginning to bother him, so he called yesterday morning and got an appointment for the afternoon. This time, I drove. I’m glad he got in the same day he called. All is well.

We’re due for some storms this afternoon. “Potentially severe.” Just don’t knock our power out when the hearings are on.

I felt the need to dress a doll this morning. It was Livvy’s turn. (I do keep track of these things.)

I call this “Olivia and the Flowers.”

She really is my comfort doll. I’ve decided that she’ll be by my side today. She can help me with the puzzle.

Just looked at the radar for this afternoon. It looks a bit ominous.

Stay safe.

Happy Tuesday.

Welcome!

Welcome!

I live in a little cottage in the country with my husband. It's a sweet place, sheltered by old trees and surrounded by gardens. The inside is full of the things we love. I love to write, I love my camera, I love creating, I love gardening. My decorating style is eclectic; full of vintage and a bit of whimsy.

I've worked in the theater for more years than I can count. I'm currently a voice, speech, dialect and text coach freelancing on Broadway, off Broadway, and in regional theater.

Thanks for stopping by.
