Drunk on Pollen

September 30, 2017 at 8:11 am by Claudia

I’m writing this rather quickly on this Saturday morning as I have to go into the city for a run-through of Shadowlands. As we head toward winter, it’s often dark when I wake up – always hard to get used to. No wonder we cocoon in the winter.

I took this picture yesterday with my iPhone. A bee was resting on one of the morning glories and I was able to get close enough to capture him in some detail. What I didn’t see at the time, I discovered when I edited it.

Pollen everywhere, including all over his body.  I’ve titled it: Drunk on Pollen.

It’s rather amazing that my iPhone 6 captured this level of detail.

This just might be one of my favorite photos ever.

As it was, there were 32 morning glories in bloom in the memorial garden and another 8 in the chicken wire fence garden. 40! An all-time record!

I was drawn to them off and on all day long. I even sat out on the funky patio to watch them move in the breeze. While I was out there, I watched a chipmunk eat a nut over by the rain barrel. Adorable.

Okay, my friends. I have to jump in the shower and get a move on.

Happy Saturday.

Rushed

September 18, 2017 at 7:22 am by Claudia

These beauties are still going strong.

This will be a quick post. Yesterday ended up being a very busy day with gutter cleaning, buying a new lawn mower, trying to put it together, and lots of other must-dos on the agenda. Poor Don. His one day off wasn’t at all restful.

He’s leaving soon to go back to the city. I am not traveling with him – in order to go with him, I would have had to drive my car to our neighboring town this morning to park it near the bus terminal and he would have had to pick me up. Otherwise I would have come back from the city via the bus with no way to get back to the cottage. It seemed like an extra hassle, so he’s driving and I’m taking the bus and we might meet up there or not. We’re rehearsing only a few blocks apart.

Anyway, I have to get moving and I’m still a bit sleep deprived, so more coffee is on the agenda. I haven’t even had time to reply to yesterday’s comments, but I’ll get there. Apologies!

Hopefully, next week will be a more laid back day off for Don. Fingers crossed.

I’ll be back with more tomorrow, my friends.

Happy Monday.

Manhattan, Anastasia & Perspective

June 21, 2017 at 8:45 am by Claudia

Busy New York City. Once again, I ran over to Bryant Park and the Whole Foods that is there to grab some dinner to go. No time to sit in the park this visit!

My hotel is lovely – The Millennium. Just a block from the theater and with a nice, large, and relatively (for NYC) quiet room. I’m throwing this post together rather quickly as I have to get it together, write up notes for the actors, check out, and then run over to the theater for some work with one of the actors.

The show is great. I see changes in the performances, the kind of changes that happen when the actors have the luxury of more than a limited run. It’s theirs now and they are having a ball. The audience was tremendously responsive for a Tuesday night.

When Dimitry and Anastasia almost kiss, but don’t, I heard an ‘Awww!’ from the row in front of me, which made me laugh.

That’s the Empire State Building.

And what do I see out my window this morning?

The Chrysler Building – my favorite skyscraper.

Don’t be discouraged by the win in Georgia; we closed the gap in a Republican stronghold, by a large percentage. This doesn’t bode well for 2018. And by then, Trump will be that much deeper in the hole in terms of Trump/Russia and the facts that are going to come out. I say this to myself as well: Stay Strong.

If you do use twitter – you might want to look at Charles Clymer. He, I have found, is politically astute and he posted a thread last night that puts the election in perspective. I was reading it at 12:30 am this morning and it provided a much-needed ‘big picture’ as well as hope.

Happy Wednesday.

Welcome!

Welcome!

I live in a little cottage in the country with my husband. It's a sweet place, sheltered by old trees and surrounded by gardens. The inside is full of the things we love. I love to write, I love my camera, I love creating, I love gardening. My decorating style is eclectic; full of vintage and a bit of whimsy.

I've worked in the theater for more years than I can count. I'm currently a voice, speech, dialect and text coach freelancing on Broadway, off Broadway, and in regional theater.

Thanks for stopping by.
