Wilmington, Rhinebeck & an Award

October 21, 2009 at 2:23 pm by Claudia

Hello from Wilmington, Delaware. I drove down here today to work on The Wizard of Oz for a couple of days. I’m staying downtown and my hotel room is a suite! Oooh – I love that. I’m posting these photos per my husband’s request!

There’s a nice view:

Of course, I am here to work! But if I have to be away from my family, it helps to be in a lovely room.

My sister Meredith blogged about our trip to Rhinebeck today. You should see her photos! I stole one for my blog:

Me kissing a llama, or is it an alpaca?

I took photos of Mere with the animals too, but they came out too blurry (for the second year in a row.) She will be posting more photos so stop by and visit her. She is such a sweetie!

I’ve been forgetting to post this and I apologize. I’ve received this lovely award from three different bloggers.

Thank you so much, Kim, Teresa and Sue! I am very grateful and am always amazed when I receive an award. Honestly, I am incapable of choosing just a few blogs to pass this award along to, so if you will forgive me, I’ll pass this along to all my wonderful blog friends.

I have to find something to eat, so I will see you later!

We had Fun at Rhinebeck

October 17, 2009 at 4:54 pm by Claudia

This morning found my sister and I rising at 6:15 in order to get out the door and on our way to Rhinebeck (The New York Sheep and Wool Festival) by 7:30. We wanted to beat the crowds and hopefully avoid the predicted rain this afternoon. It has been so, so cold the whole time my sister has been here! You remember, she hails from Florida? Well, we have been in the midst of an unseasonable cold snap – it was snowing the day I picked her up from the airport! Today was cold and windy.

We got there bright and early and had a great time, as always. I was forced to buy some gloves because my hands were so cold! Here are some photos of the day.

Yarn everywhere, hand spun, hand dyed – gorgeous!
Llamas, Alpacas, Lambs…we can’t get enough of these guys.

The online knitting community, Ravelry, had a noon meet-up and the crowd just got bigger and bigger.
This is a hugely popular event.

In the midst of spectacular Autumn colors.

Here is my beautiful sister, Meredith, modeling the coat she knitted from Noro yarn. Isn’t it gorgeous? Believe me, she received many compliments on it as we walked through the Festival. She is such a talented knitter.

We are having a wonderful time – it goes by too fast, though. She leaves tomorrow morning. That makes me sad. Scout and Riley are sad, too – they adore her. In the next post, I will share some lovely things she made for me.

On My Way

October 4, 2009 at 8:13 am by Claudia

Travel day – back to New York. Chattanooga: I will be back. I’ve been told by fellow bloggers that the mountains are worth exploring (I can see them in the distance), especially Lookout Mountain and the Incline. And there are all sorts of interesting places down by the riverfront – a place I had no way to explore. There are wonderful places here that I have missed. Sometimes that is what happens when I travel on business. I just get a taste of what a place has to offer and then I am forced to leave.

The people I have met are utterly charming, warm and lovely – not to mention I am a sucker for a Southern Dialect. So off I go, but hopefully, I will be back!

Welcome!

Welcome!

I live in a little cottage in the country with my husband. It's a sweet place, sheltered by old trees and surrounded by gardens. The inside is full of the things we love. I love to write, I love my camera, I love creating, I love gardening. My decorating style is eclectic; full of vintage and a bit of whimsy.

I've worked in the theater for more years than I can count. I'm currently a voice, speech, dialect and text coach freelancing on Broadway, off Broadway, and in regional theater.

Thanks for stopping by.
