Sweet Little Shelf

February 19, 2010 at 8:44 am by Claudia

I found this little treasure the other day at one of my favorite little shops. I wanted to show you how petite it is so I photographed it next to the ‘wrought iron thingy.’ The tag on it said it was used as a spice rack. I just love it – the flower in a deco-like design, its colors of blue and cream and the curvy sides. I’m thinking I might use it in the studio area to hold sewing notions or treasures from my blogging friends. All I know is the minute I spied it in a booth – hidden away on the floor – it was mine.

My friend Donna, from Brynwood Needleworks, surprised me the other day with this lovely Valentine/ATC that she created. She is so talented! It reminds me of something handmade during the Victorian era – sweet, heartfelt and beautiful. Donna, by the way, is having a giveaway for her 300th post, so you just might want to stop by.

It is a very windy Friday here – very windy. Scout and I have to take a quick trip to the Veterinarian’s office and I have errands to run – such as trying to track down a copy of the new Flea Market Style magazine. Let’s hope my local stores have it on the shelf!

Happy Friday!

Edited to add: I found the magazine today at Barnes and Noble – It looks fabulous. I can’t wait to sit down and look through it!

McCoy Monday

February 15, 2010 at 8:29 am by Claudia

It is McCoy Monday. Today I want to share this cache pot, one of my first pieces. The soft shades of green, the flower shaped pots and the sweet yellow bird make me smile. This is another of the McCoy pieces that use a bird, in this case three dimensional. I love it! There is another edition of the cache pot that has yellow flower pots instead of the green you see here. I don’t own that one, but I am sure I will some day. I display this piece on a little shelf above my kitchen counter.

It is snowing a bit here this morning but it is that kind of light, wind-blown snow that won’t accumulate – I hope. Riley, by the way, is so much better since we have changed the sleeping arrangements. We absolutely made the right decision. Now, when it is time for bed, Scout gets up on the love seat, Riley settles down on the floor and neither one blinks an eye. No more pacing or trying to follow us up the stairs…and every morning we have a grand reunion.

Happy Monday!

Little Buttons

February 10, 2010 at 12:11 pm by Claudia

As I drove back from Providence on Sunday, I managed a quick stop at one of my favorite antique malls. Unfortunately, it is now a former favorite. It used to have so many wonderful booths, but has been very disappointing the last couple of visits. Most of the booths just have a lot of junk (and not the good kind) and look like someone just dumped stuff in the middle of the floor. It seems like no one cares or bothers to keep them fresh. Maybe the economy has taken its toll?

I did find one little treasure – antique aqua buttons on a beautiful card with amazing graphics:

Aren’t the graphics lovely? The button card has snagged a coveted spot on my reimagined bulletin board:

We’re having a big old snowstorm today. Right now, we are in a lull – the afternoon promises high winds and blizzard-like conditions.

Scout is on snow patrol.

Welcome!

Welcome!

I live in a little cottage in the country with my husband. It's a sweet place, sheltered by old trees and surrounded by gardens. The inside is full of the things we love. I love to write, I love my camera, I love creating, I love gardening. My decorating style is eclectic; full of vintage and a bit of whimsy.

I've worked in the theater for more years than I can count. I'm currently a voice, speech, dialect and text coach freelancing on Broadway, off Broadway, and in regional theater.

Thanks for stopping by.
